Just did my second CPAP night last night. Nasal pillows, 5 to 15 on an airsense 11. By my morning study results, I got in 10hrs 41mins. Was a bit of a shock going from a pressure of 12.something to room air pressure when first getting up. Either way, my whole face feels more opened up than it had the last few days before starting treatment. Yesterday, after the first night, it felt really full. Now, I'm excited to see the treatment start working.
I so needed this video ten years ago. I have been touching it out holding my lower jaw open with a full face mask. GP told me I was fine with the low 4-10 AHI.
Thanks for spreading the word on this neglected but so important branch of medicine. There's a need for more accurate home testing systems, not just to save money, but because factors in the home, eg., dust mite, or pets, may be contributing to a patient's problems, and the problem may not be detected in a lab environment, or it may be an intermittent problem. A person could rent home equipment several times over a month, and maybe it would catch events that are significant but don't happen every night. I have a heart rhythm quirk that only happens now and then, and it took half a year for me to identify it and find the cause. It didn't show up during the one sleep study I did.
Can you please expand on this ? I had a home sleep study done and it showed 7 AHI events and they said I should be ok but I wake up feeling crappy every morning and I feel like it's more that 7 events an hour

I got a CPAP, but have found it to be less helpful than expected because my nose and throat become progressively more irritated while using it on most nights. After a few hours, my nose is usually completely stuffed up and I wake up feeling like I can't breathe and off goes the mask for the rest of night.
Not sure if this is correct and I am not an expert but I'd wager on the basis of what you describe that your machine is blowing cold air into your nose/mouth, I know from my own experience that this can and does irritate the soft tissue in my nose and throat, that is why I got a CPAP machine that allows the use of accessories that heat the air so that I do not end up irritating the soft tissue in my nose and mouth.
@@Daurentius322 I had the ResMed AirSense 11 with the ClimateLine heated tubing. Experimented with different temperatures/ humidity levels based on how the room felt each night. When it did work well, it would end up leaking and waking me up before I had enough sleep. Hoping the allergist and ENT will be able help when I finally get in to see them.
Why don’t more insurance companies recognize UARS/cover various treatments? That’s the greatest obstacle to recovery and the medical community struggles to advocate for those who suffer worst. Only the very wealthy or those with high AHIs can afford the invasive surgeries that we need to fix our issues.
