    I hope they DON'T redesign the Frontier. It's the only one that still looks like a truck in the segment, it has the most gas torque available in the segment, and it's been out long enough that it's rock solid dependable with no bugs or kinks to work out. Plus, it's affordable! NISSAN DON'T CHANGE IT, JUST UPDATE IT!

I mean its a truck not a Mercedes to me anyway. I'm not a Nissan guy but, I like these Frontiers. They seem solid and reliable. The 4.0L is a great engine and I wish Toyota had kept it in the Tacoma and just tweaked it. I'm not sure what's up with the "dated" comments on all these trucks. It's as if most folks expect a completely new interior every year now. I like familiarity with my vehicles and improvements are one thing; change for just the sake of change is another. I'm paying for function over form. Funny how this "dated" truck did as well as any other new designed truck. Seems people equate ALL change as good. Not so.

Definetly wish the trailer had breaks tho in bad traffic. My brother has a 09 ram 1500 with the 5.7 I've pulled him out a ditch with my truck and also pulled another full size ram high centered on a concrete ledge next to a ditch. These lil trucks sure can give it hell when they need to. My advice get a Frontier before a redesigned can't beat a 10 year 100k warranty.

    i got one for Mr. Truck.
    How do you regain control of a trailer that starts swaying/fish tailing? (I'm assuming that only happens on an unbalanced load)

    • @TFLtruck
      @TFLtruck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We discuss this and many other topics in our new book www.TruckNutsBook.com The quickest way to regain control of the swaying trailer is to manually activate trailer brakes with the trailer brake controller (without applying truck's brakes). This Frontier did not come with a trailer brake controller, but one can be added.

But one day when they renew it with a different look and different motor with push button start which they’ve already down for e 2020 it has push button start people will miss this truck. I’m happy I got my 2017 Pro-4x in my drive way, will keep this truck for a life time.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but the Frontier is rated at 16/22 MPG city/highway with V6.
    The Ford F-150 for 2018 (4X4) with 5.0 liter V8 is rated at 16/22 MPG city/highway.

    For being as FREAKING OLD as it is, the Frontier has always managed to impress in TFLTruck tests. Its back seat, interior materials, and MPG suck, but it gets the job done and is surprisingly capable and competent in terms of real world work whenever it is tested.

    You can't give a fair mpg rating if the outside temperature isn't close on all the vehicles. I get a 10+ Mpg difference from winter and summer. I live in cold Michigan like you live in cold Colorado. I bet if you had done this test in the summer the mpg would have been 6+

    Why can't a company build an offroader with *all* manual options... a lot of us don't need power windows, seating, door locks, an ipad in the console, auto transmission. Make a Lotus elise version of a truck with a rock solid engine, drivetrain, and underbelly. They'd sell the shit out of something like that...

    • @sonictech1000
      @sonictech1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      tsnorquist Problem is that the number of people who are that hard core about off roading and want to do it in a new truck that they're making payments on is vanishingly small.

    • @technom3598

    What were the scores for Canyon and Colorado?

    • @boss123400
      @boss123400 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mountainhobo Go to TFL truck, click on playlist. Click on Ike folder. I just rewatched it and both and the Colorado and Canyon lost to the Frontier going up the Ike in time but won the downhill and subjective to which they are not evaluating their opinions over the same things consistently. I'm beginning to think they're keeping the subjective this way to pick winners and losers on the down low, based on bias.

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I expected they had the scores in past evaluation videos, it just struck me as inconsistent with the comparison format not to mention the other scores. As for the subjective scoring, yes, that is always a danger, particularly when the subjective point pool is so high -- it is easy to skew the results. As you said, subjective pool could be subdivided into specific categories.
