    I'm not Muslim, but every time Brother Ali says "We just want to touch our heads to the floor and talk to God" I get tears in my eyes. I'm a black woman but I won't turn my eyes from any people who are victims of systemic hatred. Whoever you are, never forget: your empathy, the pain you feel for yourself and everyone like you, is what separates you from those who would do harm. I know it hurts. But if these lyrics show us anything, it's that the ability to vulnerable has tremendous power. Only fools see it as weakness. They just lack the courage to wield it. Be at peace, friend. You're not alone.

      Always has been a class war. Racism is like tossing a candy bar in the public swimming pool on a grand scale or letting rip in the elevator. Everyone panics and looks around looking for who they think did it but they really just act on their personal assumptions and hate. Sad but true.

    • @DjembeSauce
      @DjembeSauce 4 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      @@punkisinthedetails1470 I dont understand your similes regarding racism. Tossing a candy bar into a public pool? Farting on an elevator and blaming someone else?
      Racism is an attitude deliberately instilled by the powerful to ensure that the white working class and the black working class and the Hispanic working class never unite and are constantly at each other's throats. If the entire human working class rose up and banded together we could crush the bosses, "the man", the patriarchy, the system, the oppression, the pigs, the politicians, etc. and make life radically better for everyone. But we have racism, and other forms of pointless and petty division, between people with different skin tones, and so the evil people will keep getting one over on us until enough people free their minds and educate themselves as to the real reasons why their lives are shitty. Once they figure out it's only a few hundred billionaires, with names and addresses that are easily searchable, then the real civil war begins.

IT and Killer Mike’s verses get me pumped and full of righteous anger then Brother comes in and makes me realise that’s how the racist shitheads felt after 9/11. Also I don’t posses the music or poetry knowledge to quantify exactly how but something about his lyrics just make me sad but kind of the bitter happy/sad not dissimilar to nostalgia only in this case it’s sadness at realising this is how the system be but a vague not of hope knowing thanks to people like Ali, RTJ, Boots Riley and RAtM some people atleast know that how the system be (class consciousness you could say) so myself and everyone here has taken the first, admittedly very small step to fixing it.

      Also sorry If that made no sense (I know the grammar is fucked) honestly, I’m really high

      Exactly. MOST whites don't tolerate racism or prejudice. Yet, we are seeing on YT black preachers saying whites are from the devil & deserve extermination & worse elsewhere. I say we meet in public...be respectful & even if you're not? I will be. I don't know who hurt you before or if you're having a bad day & just taking it out on me...Christ really IS in some of us. I don't have much, but my home is refuge for those in need as a handup, not a handout. I will help them get stable, but once they do...what are YOU doing for YOU to rise further than here? My home is full of abused people who just needed kindness & an escape. THAT'S helping your neighbor. I would for anyone, as we are servants here to help each other...if you REALLY have the Lord in your life...you'll combat ANY KIND of hate. Walk OUT of that church preaching the prosperity gospel. Walk out of that church spewing hatred of any kind. Show them there is NO ROOM for IGNORANCE anymore. Anywhere.

    The best thing about Brother Ali's part, is not his words (and they're the best I've ever seen). But it was his tone and how he executed it. I could sense fear and hurt when he went through his lines. It was as intimate as one can get on the subject matter. This has become one of my favorite songs and I already loved Killer Mike but now that I've been introduced to IT and Brother Ali, I'm hooked for life.

      One of the reasons Brother Ali will always stand up to time... is the dude has timeless lyrics but his delivery is on par with being on the hill and having to preach. He got the preacher voice in him, always has. It's why he's a threat because the same cadences and wording that the churches use to draw you in... he's throwing right back in every single song.

    MLK's speeches always bring a tear to my eye. Seeing him seemingly hold back tears while addressing his people, knowing that he is in incredible danger every day of his life, but supressing any feelings that come along with it. His work is not finished. I only hope I'll live to see the day when it is, and that I'll be a part of it, no matter how big or small. We can fix everything, and we have to, otherwise the cycle will never end, the pain caused by America needs to be paid back, with as little bloodshed as possible to show that we can be better. Humanity does not have to be a parasite to the earth and all of its creatures. We can fix everything, I really believe that.

    Brother Ali is so slept on. The message he's pushing is so important, and those lyrics...
    " we believe in freedom justice, security , but they are only pure when they're applied universally , certainly if I Rage Against the Machine my aim is only to clean the germs out of the circuitry ".
    You know exactly what he's saying yet you could dissect it a million different ways. That line is in the top twenty of all time for me. Maybe top ten. A rapper's message is important to me and brother Ali just embodies everything good, everything positive about a message that could be pushed. It might sound cliche but immortal technique, brother Ali, or people like this are saints, or chosen ones, etc. The type of people who long ago in the past were shamans, or priests, or rabbis, etcetera. I'm not saying they're perfect, or are any better than any of us. They're more in tune that they're alive to have a voice. We're not free, and we have no real say. We're going down a dark road and being told we're in the drivers seat. We need to get this world back into the light of love and compassion. We we all need to realize that most of us want the same things. We need to start working together so we can make the world a better place cuz we have the means to. We have the motive, but those positive changes can't be made because they stand to take away from the people and systems already in power.love you all..
    They're pushing a black white divide hard nowadays, and manufacturing outrage. That's why people like George Soros fund black lives matter . You think that demon cares about you? Fuck no there's a bigger picture. Its divide and conquer or my enemies enemies is my friend. The people at the top and run the show, yeah most of them have white skin, but not all of them. They're Saudis, Hispanics, Asian branches. They all set aside they're differences long ago, and they're stirring the pot to make sure we never come together. There's is race targeted oppression... But thats because hella white are asleep and fully trust their government, hella minorities. Whites had/ have more or less showed they'll go with flow and be good little boys, where minorities of all types rebel, come together, and have more reasons to do these things. They're more scared of us/y'all.
    I say us/y'all cause in this life I am a white man, but I remember two past, lives one of which I was an African. Believe me or dont and i dont blame you if you dont. I cant give you my experience, and I feel guilty I got these experiences. I'm proud of what my people of that life have become. Hate how we got here, but proud none the less. I can't wait for the day, we all start having epiphanies and realizing what we are and what we're doing here. Sincerely, love you all

      I think he realized the popular religious tales could be used to unite and liberate, rather divide and enslave. Arguably, the "writing" most responsible for his final speeches being so extremely powerful, relevant, and even radical was the unambiguous death --threat-- promise mailed to his home from the FBI; an extension of the same gov't/corp. establishment which had previously co-opted him to counter the more "dangerous" (read: revolutionary) ideas and movements which had the establishment truly terrified of losing their stranglehold on the people of this country/planet. Martin got shot down when he stood up, and did so fearlessly.

      Another King would get shot just like the last one was. A movement that relies on local leaders rather than a central figure is the only kind that can survive in America, because the CIA will sabotage and kill anyone they feel sufficiently threatened by.
