  • In this video I review the 2023 Nissan Maxima SR.. Unfortunately, 2023 will be the last model year for the Maxima. It's a great sedan that didn't seem to do too well sales wise - even with it being a great car.. What do you think caused its lack of sales? I have my own opinions which you will see in the video...

Great video. I'm a 56 yr old mechanical engineer that bought one new in 2016. I now have 138,000 miles on it; still pulls like a train. Yes, people are afraid of the CVT-mainly its reliability. Then again, people want to drive cars without maintaining them; you can't do that with a CVT-that fluid must be changed. (BTW-my car has had nearly zero issues since new; then again, I get ALL preventative maintenance done).

@@supersmash6058 I've been doing every 60K as recommended by my dealership and the Nissan Maintenance manual. However, the consensus on the internet seems to be 30K. So, if you want, split the difference and do 45K, but never more than 60K. (BTW-150K miles now...good as new!)

I am not an SUV person I personally have a 17 Maxima and this is my 2nd nissan with a cvt. I drive pretty aggressively and I currently have 105.000 miles on my 17. Never had any issues with the car so far. I did do a transmission service at 90,000 MI. I'm very happy with this car and I am a mechanic for Mercedes-Benz for 22 years. I get lots of comments on my car and everyone who rides in it and drives it really enjoys it. I installed Stillen exhaust on the vehicle so it sounds better. Hopefully they come back with the Maxima in a few years

September 2023 traded a 2020 Silverado RST 5.3 engine I bought new in 2020 with lot of engine trouble at 19,000 miles for a new white 2023 Maxima SR. LOVE it and think it sporty, fast enough, comfortable, drives great, rides great and well equipped. I am 72 and remember when front wheel drive was the thing and what people bought to drive in the snow. Was in sales in 1984 and company I worked for got me a new 1985 Maxima station wagon. Right after I got it drove from middle TN to east TN about 300 miles in 22 inches of snow no problem and it was front wheel drive. I loved that car and it was way ahead of its time both in styling, equipment and tech or at least what tech there was. Different job now but still have a work car and don’t get to drive my personal car much but when I do can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Maxima now and don’t mind the CVT at all. My wife is 23 years younger than me and drives a 2022 Genesis GV70 which she loves but I tell her the Maxima is my mid life crisis vehicle. Only other model I would have considered and think is sporty would have been the Lexus 250 or 300 sport series which are pretty sharp looking. Thanks for the in-depth video great job.

Yea, I get it some folks get sold a lemon and can't make lemonade out of it, yet a CVT engine or NOT, if folks would take care of their vehicles like they're supposed to it'll work. I haven't had any major issues with mine, thus far. 🤷‍♀️ I actually like this Maxima personally.

The Altima is no match for the MAX ! The MAX DID NOT NEED to be cancelled it needed a do over after being the same car since 2016 -2023 ! basically ! Start here 360 hp 310 torque AWD Upgrades to 2024 tech new lights new exhaust and a 9 speed basically what is under the new Pathfinder ! 52-55k price points = sold !

Facts, and they could have done something similar in design to the older gens to pay tribute like they did with the 400z looking like the original 240z. Imagine a max with those specs and a lightweight body style like the 4th and 5th gen maximas? It would outsell the new wrx and accord. Missed opportunity from Nissan to send out the max with a bang. This just looks like a bigger Sentra and who wants a car that looks like a Sentra.

Agreed after 8 yrs the Max gave Nissan a lot of converts ! they did not have before we did not want it cancelled we were waiting to be the 1st in line to buy the new one , Maxes and Pathfinders share a lot of mechanicals the 2024 PF with the HO Engine 9 speed AWD would have been a great start and folding mirrors please , cancelling this car was a mistake .@@dravidianking1298

Why are they not selling? Today’s man is weak. Women are making the decision on their family vehicle which is a SUV. What’s that? Mini vans are NOT selling either you say? I’m in sales and own this car in SR version. Why did I buy it? A rare car on the road. It’s faster than most cars on the road with 300 hp to get you outta dangerous situations. It comes with a premium Bose stereo (be sure to go to settings and crank up the bass and sub woofer and you’ll be rocking. The interior is beautiful. The CVT is a none issue. Here’s the reality. In real life driving conditions it does not hinder your driving. You will very quickly adapt to its performance. When you are walking up to your Maxima from hitting the hardware store etc you’ll approach its angles and say to yourself wow this car is car is so so nice!
