I traded my 2011 VW Jetta for the 2020 Nissan Maxima today. Thanks to my brother in law we test drove it around town to check out the safety features. I drove it on the highway and it was quick. Now I am a proud owner of the midnight blue Maxima.
How is the CVT transmission holding up? I absolutely love the look of the car, but the CVT scares the S*** out of me.

I have a 2019 maxima sr in the grey. I had my side mirrors and rear spoiler wrapped in carbon fiber. Really makes the car pop! I get a lot of compliments

I have this exact car. Mines a 2019. It’s a head turner. I catch people double take on it. I’m proud of it. Lol.
The maxima I would say has the most aggressive interior and exterior design in the whole line up right now. (Unless you count the new Rogue that’s coming out) I would agree it is a major head turner, especially the new one. It does depend on where u are tho. I live in Vegas so it seems like tons of people have this car here.EDIT: not including the GTR and 370Z

This video really hits home. I remember when this car dropped way back when I was in the 5th grade when it was still Datsun! The first one I drove was a second generation 1987 model and I fell in love with it! I was finally able to get my own in 1998 which was a 95 model and really enjoyed owning it with no problems. Then in 2000 I hit hard times and the repo thing happened. This video really made me remember my roots! 😎
The Maxima rear looks better than Altima, and Altima front looks better than Maxima 😂

@@NudlezGaming_50 just wait until it goes out. I have 3 friends with current altima or sentra with cvt all of them already went out. One at 40k miles, other at 60k lol. Good fucking luck
Jonathan Pontel got my 2016 maxima at 73k miles running fine , is not the cvt is how you treat the car and take care of it.
@@RDSxIVISIION No, if you have any idea of how the transmission functions it is terribly unreliable. From a mechanic standpoint we would never recommend a car with a cvt to anyone.
Traded in my Mercedes for this in the midnight edition maxima SR and I love it ! I went to a dodge dealership to get a Challenger but everyone there said for very good horsepower but not too much power this model would be a perfect fit .The salesmen at the dealership said they get a lot of crashed challengers daily due to people not being use to them . When I test driven the new challengers they were just a little too loud for my liking . At first it seemed really big to drive but once you get the hang of the size and big tires compared to a small Benz CLA you’ll love it.
Had one as a rental. It was fast I was surprised honestly.

No sports sedan should have a CVT. That's the main reason I don't like the Maxima. Not bad looking, although I think the front end is too busy. Right now, the best looking vehicle in Nissan's lineup is the all new Sentra. Hopefully, the redesign will incorporate styling cues from the Sentra and drop the CVT.

Good review, boys. I used to have a 2011 Infiniti M37, a great car with rear wheel drive, now called the Q70 and facing extinction. But it lives on in this car, except for the front wheel drive. Many features and physical buttons have made their way from that Infiniti to this Nissan, which isn't a surprise, really, as it is cost effective. Things haven't changed that much in 9 years, after all...

I have test driven, Maxima. I loved that it had a V6. I thought everything was great, except the fact that the Maxima only had fwd. The lack of rwd kept me from buying this delicious automobile.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 200,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.
Now granted Nissan does still have that lawsuit problem with the CVT so may be a serious issue, but sometimes I honestly do wonder if people not following the maintenance schedule in the manual is the reason behind the whole thing. Of course just saying that is enough to set off an entire forum.
Man it's such a shame Nissan can't gets its reliability back on track I'm hoping soon they move away from the CVT just about ever person I know that's had issues with newer Nissan's has to do with the transmission
I agree, the CVTs are a deal breaker for me. I cannot consider a Nissan as an option when I'm in the market for a car regardless of nice features, apart from the CVT.

Howdy, awesome video as always guys! I have nothing against CVT transmissions, but I agree that it’s being used in the wrong way here! I look at the trims as S being fleet, SV/SL being for people with tight budgets, and then the SR/Platinum being the way to go if you have the cash depending on what you prefer! In my opinion, the only reason to get the Platinum Reserve is if you carry back seat passengers in a cold climate a lot! Also, just so y’all know, I didn’t get adds, so you might want to investigate so you don’t loose money!😸😻😸

Forget the Altima! Maxima is where it’s at!
Altima can't match the 3.5 liter engine offered on the Maxima, nor are cooled seats or panoramic sunroof available at ANY trim level of the Altima.
I can’t get over the fact how Altima is all wheel drive and the maxima is rear wheel drive

I have a 2019 Platinum reserve and I love it. The only thing I think the Maxima has fallen behind is in the interior and the electronics specifically the main display has not kept up with the quality of the other manufacturers as well as some of the safety features

My biggest complaint about the newest maxima is that they removed the fog lights on the lower trims. I love the new(er) drl's, but I actually think I prefer the pre refreshed front face over the latest version. I hate those fake vents in the front
I just got my 2020 Maxima SR in white. So beautiful and everyone looks at it and cars tend to try and race on the highway. No complaints at all
So true haha I didn’t know that was a thing into I got mine . Cars just instantly want to speed up next to me and showboat how fast or loud their engine can go . With Mercedes CLA 2018 I didn’t get as many racers due to a quiet engine . So funny . I have the midnight edition and it’s such a beauty

Just got the SL, and upgraded from an acura tl 2014. Yes I love my acura its my first baby, but this thing is such a fucking beast not only that I feel confident with it inside and out. Love this car I can care less about a cvt in fact It feels better without the jerk.

I almost bought a Maxima because of the styling and huge discounts but went another way because I wanted AWD.
If one is not bothered with the CVT, a Maxima today is an excellent value (I'd lease, not own as CVT reliability is questionable). Nevertheless, a Maxima Platinum can be bought for $6,500 under MSRP.. About the same price as a loaded Camry (but sportier & more luxurious).
If you take care of it and don't drive it like a rental car, it will be fine. This is far from their first iteration of CVTs.
We all know the Camry will outlast a maxima.🤭🤭🤭

I wouldn't want to own a Nissian frankly. But when compared to the Camey v6 from Toyota I find this to offer more luxury. This maxima is more inliens of a sporty Toyota Avalon.. Maxima begins at 35k. The camey begins at a much less price range. If your going to buy a v6 sedan. Toyota. If your going to lease, maxima. Maxima is like Toyota avalon.
My only complain about this car is Apple CarPlay. Don’t use any cheap wires with it cause it will work then reject that mf 2 days later. I have the SL. Pano roof Bose speakers, leather quilted seats, this car is a blast.

They should've made it RWD and use the VQ35HR motor and a better transmission. I have a 7th gen maxima and love it but... Nissan should've shown more love for their 4DSC (4 Door Sports Car).

J Mowrey Nissan owns Jatco FYI. They are garbage transmissions for reliability.
My 2011 MAXIMA was better built that my 2016 Platinum model. My 2016 suffered from check engine lights to a rattle underneath the car. The adaptive cruise does not have stop and go (You must press the brake, or you'll roll into the car in front of you after stopping for a brief second). Big bummer there and there is no auto-hold or electronic parking brake, hence the reason for no actual full adaptive cruise control. You cannot beat the 3.5 V6 engine though, plenty of power and excellent fuel economy.
Wrong! It's a nice vehicle, a premium vehicle, but certainly not a luxury vehicle. Luxury vehicles would be: Mercedes Benz, BMW, Lexus, Acura, etc. Ok? Cool.

If you wanna die buy a new Nissan. I've seen too many videos of these cars getting in crashes and the occupants dieing and the others involved in the crash being mostly or completely okay. Don't believe me? Do the research crash ratings are garbage even compared to much cheaper cars like Kia and Hyundai!!!
I have a 2017 model, the worst thing about it is a break very old I wish If it was electronic (finger break), and also there is no autohold, and the seats are hard, not as soft as the Hyundai Azera, unfortunately, and the space is also not big like they say “fall large sedan”

Just bought my 2020 Maxima Sr a week ago it's a super black I love this car it has good performance especially when using the manual mode. It seems to be more effective then the paddle shifter.
The down fall of this car is the unreliable CVT. Nissan makes the worst and most unreliable CVT’s ever made. It continues today.

I love my 2019 Nissan Maxima, one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I’m curious did you guys drive the vehicle in normal mode or sport mode. And if so did you notice any differences in performance?
We did both modes. The main differences are that the throttle response is more aggressive in the Sport mode and the steering is boosted to have more heft

If they gave this the 3.7VQHR,Akebono Big Brakes,a Better Transmission and Rear Wheel drive with optional AWD this would crush the competition and sell like hot cakes. But we all know Nissan won't because this car would outsell their outdated Q50
