Yup. It's because the ultrasonic waves need to travel through it and the glass but added material refracts it more. It shouldn't affect it after that

Well accually when u put the glass when u register ur fibger print tye screen tempered glass is the one will be registered and it juts need press of a finger of anyone it will open but the tempered glass should have a hole in the fingerprint scanner the has a thin plastic layer

I wouldn't say it's good but it will do. I replaced it a little while ago because I prefer more rigid protection. Unless you drop it often it will work fine.

Ultrasonics are not interfered by water that's why they use them in finding the depth of oceans. So it would still work.
Yeah but I think like this. When it comes to the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, we cannot make sure that there is a layer of water beneath our finger and on the scanner ofcourse covering the whole area. So some sound waves will be reflected back with a different speed. But I guess the scanner is made to give access even if it resembles like 98% of the data.

its not a glass protector, its a plastic film and is recommended to be used temporary until the user can get a better quality one

The difference bewteen the heights of the ridges doesn’t change with that tho. Similar case with water, if you have a layer of water on your finger it still works

The phone is still holding on and isn't that far away from the flagship title at all even though it's aging.

Yes. It does look so slick, clean and preety. Much better than all the notches we've had last year. What's with all the hate on the hole punch. I don't get it. First it was the notch and when Samsung didn't adopt it for the whole of 2018 like sheep everybody loved Samsung and appreciated them for doing so. Now when they've bought something new to the table theyre getting hatred. The hole punch doesn't even look that horrendous or ugly and you can hide it like a notch and you'll get used to it after using it for a few days like a notch. So why hate. Like seriously wtf is going on.

I honestly think Samsung has been making the best hardware for the last 3 years. I don't even own a Samsung phone but I have to give them props. They've earned it.
Having used Samsung since their very old "Wave" series of phones, their hardware has always been the best. It's just that for a long time the mobile technology wasn't powerful enough to support their software which was too full of features (I mean, my fucking S4 had a fully functional multi-window mode, as well as bunch of facial recognition features).
Until you drop it from 3 ft and it is unusable.

You can probably turn up touch sensitivity to bypass through the glass, I know that worked for my s9
You should also test tempered glass screen protectors like the whitestone dome, or others that use liquid loca glue as the adhesive and cured with a UV light. Whitestone claims it will work with the S10's ultrasonic sensor. So I'm guessing others that use loca would work as well.

It’s a mess to remove their screen protectors (but I love them for curved screens) so it would be nice to see some definitive testing of their product when it releases. Rather not dump $50 on a screen protector that kills my fingerprint reader and makes a mess of the phone when I have to remove it 😅
Whitestone should give mkbhd a free one if they make a claim like that. If it works, huge promotion.

Mike Mac I have used Whitestone on all my galaxy devices and family’s galaxy devices. They are absolutely awesome. But i do wonder if it will effect the fingerprint reader and also curious about the glue seeping out of the camera cutout and making a mess over the camera lens

jthil23 It won’t work because it doesn’t recognize a fingerprint. It’s like with using Touch ID for iPhones with e-tip gloves. You can try to retrain it but because there’s no physical fingerprint there’s nothing it can detect and setup

Ryan Nicolas Pasinos the notch really grew on me. Every phone had a unique notch. I also think Apple had the best notch because one side brought control center and the other gives your notification screen. They also arguably have the best camera at the moment. They bring great performance on their phones, usually amongst the best. Finally they bring a great feel to the hand. Holding metal and glass has a very premium feel to it. In my opinion other phones feel cheap and look ugly compared to it. I think their next phone will put the camera either at the bottom or behind the screen.

Hi Marques, When you did the fingerprint test with the glass screen protector, did you enable within the setup menu of the Galaxy S10 - sensitive mode (glove mode type)?
Im watching this video in 2021 like it really just came out... I think in my opinion this was Samsungs BEST PHONE EVER. Headphone Jack, Sharp colored display, Design and SD CARD... comparing to the S21.... I think I want my s10 back.
Though about getting the s21 plus. But no way the resolution is not as good as the s10

When I upgrade I think I'll go fully all out and grab the ultra. In line two years though. So like the s23 or s24. There's not big differences, I want the huge differences. And also, Samsung has to upgrade to supercharging. That's one thing that's lacking. We need 40w or 60w charging.

You know Marques knows how real people think when he tests out the fingerprint reader with the glass screen protector, and tests to see if the wide-angle front facing camera is actually hardware or software based. It's little details like this that can either make you happy or pissed off once you've shelled out hefty cash for a new phone. 10/10 that's why I always look for your opinion on phones.

The sound waves probably bounce back off the tempered glass. This screen is going to be hard to break. Doesn't really need tempered glass.

well, he said that the phone asked him to cover the whole sensor. i guess the protector interferes with the FP to an extent that the finger doesn't "cover" FP sensor. which means trying to set up the FP reader with the glass protector might not work. someone has to try, though.

The phone has a switch to turn on blue light filter at night in the display setting. It can be set with a schedule like it turns on at sunset then turns off at sunrise.

Go to local Samsung store, which I did. I can confirm it looks a lot better than my note 9. It looks as if Samsung cut a part of its qled TV and paste it on a phone. That's how I felt. 100% sure it looks a lot better than note 9 or anything before that.
