Laughed at Tom’s annoyance with Dad opening the maize clamp without him. Yes, he wanted the moment for footage, but he really wanted to see it first hand because it was HIS first maize clamp. Love the Father and Tom chats, so full of knowledge, wisdom, and humor.
I agree its full of humor but knowledge..... not so much. His father is one of the dumbest people i think ive seen and he is so confident with his stupidity. Its very humorous.

Wanna start using side sheets .... Everyone ieve ever seen doing maize grass whole crop Lucerne etc etc always uses side sheets helps keep the top closed up and air tights ... Works a great extra cost but works very well and if u wanna save the cash roll the top sheet plastic rather than cut then use that as side sheets the next year/cut seen that done as well

The Ginger warrior is the best, don’t be to hard on him. We saw the best part, the cows were enjoying the maze! I love listening to your father explain how things work. He might be a little long winded but with age comes wisdom and the young generation needs all the help we can get. Thanks as always Tom!

Hi Tom, I saw you thought the clamp wasn't looking it's best, so if I was in ur situation then I would use side sheets! Hope it helped u abit xxx
If you do it again, I would maybe get another contractor in for chopping because the silage looks like it has not been properly cut.
We feed maize/corn silage since 1980 on our farm. As we can produce 5 cuts of grass we have a lot of protein in the grass and need the corn/maize
as a cheap way to give them cows some energy.
I like the videos with your dad talking, he’s ace and Tom I’m always impressed with what you done to your farm.

The knowledge the ginger guy has is impeccable he is so dedicated to insure his stock has the best is available is a cradit to him. He treats those animals as if they were his own flesh and blood. He is a dedicated farmer.
When you think on it he probably welcomed those cows great great grandmother's into the world 🤔

Hi Tom, when I used to feed cattle, I cut all the blocks of silage and maize with the shear grab and just laid the block out in front of the pit, then just use the bucket on the loader to fill the keenan

Worked on a few farms doing building work for dad's building firm many years ago loved it... also farmers would allow a few of us to shoot on their land. Great vid.
Its always fun to see your fathers deep knowledge and experience shine through. The opening was missed, but there is something admirable in the farm comes first attitude.

Notwithstanding Dad's solo flight, the cows are telling you that when there is humble pie in the feed, they are happy.😂. Even now, in the backyard farm, one surviving chicken, no 3, she gets a handful of cracked corn before bedtime to stoke the boiler in winter. Great video. Wonderful vibe in the cowshed. Nice to see proper glass milk bottles with foil lids....the good ole days when the birds used to make a hole in the foil to peck the cream off.
Like the fact that 2 minds want the same thing, even if 1 does it differently or cannot wait. Farther and son at it's best. Passion for moving forward and passion for making sure animal care is high.

I found with maize had to be completely weighted down to keep it really well packed to prevent mold it been amazing watching the journey your farms taken since I started watching

a tip for you when feeding maize. Put watter in you mixer because your cows are looping for the maize that is why they are making that big mess. If you putt watter in the maize is sticked to the grass and they cant look for it en Just go eat.

Don't you love your cow barn???!!! I watch some other farmers in Ireland and England and their cows are in for the winter but they sleep on slats...no comfy beds..and I feel so bad for them. Your cows are beautiful!!!!
I must say (me studying my way into agronomy at college) I find it very interesting hearing your dad's thoughts about each bit of farming and the actual reason to why things are done. This included, about the grass and maize! Amazing video Tom 🌽👍 have a good weekend
