I see a couple of seasoned guys here that want to spread these millings efficiently, but above all safely. Many of the gripers have probably never seen a dump truck turn over and are challenged at spreading a peanut butter sandwich. Common sense is a precious commodity these days fellas, carry on.
Haha this is true!
Yep!
Very glad you have a secluded area with great scenery! Hopefully you don’t have to install safety fences as your popularity grows
i call them motel 6 ers i am not a so and or so but i watched a movie at a motel 6 one time so lets do this
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hard to believe that was 5 years ago, time sure does fly when your having fun!!
Really! Hundred thousand viewers before I believe
I was an owner-operator for 35 years, the last 22 of which were spent moving oversize and super-loads. Never had a claim or serious accident. Also never saw a need for advice from weekend warriors who probably never drove anything bigger than a Toyota! You do real good work, DP. The haters will always hate...It's all they've got. In my line of work it was called "Axle Envy". No one with any brains will ever fault your operator skills.
I screened asphalt milling to a # 73 consistency and they where still very difficult to spread
The commandry between you and Aaron is golden
There are those out there who do not realize that asphalt millings will clump if they sit. The summer heat will also warm them up and increase the chances of that happening. Chip sealing and seal coating asphalt adds additional product to the original asphalt which can increase the chances of clumping. And then some do not realize the main ingredient in recycled asphalt is millings. You did a fantastic job with the repairs to your original paving job. May it last a long time.
I wish I had a driveway that looked that good. What a team! You two have fun and still get the work done. Thanks for the smiles, guys.
Good morning sunshines! Im glad that Im not one of those viewers who called you an idiot! Yall did an awesome job 5 years ago & today! Little sketchy at times! Lol! Much love and respect from Henderson Ga USA
Hard to believe it’s been 5 years . but I have enjoyed watching you guys a lot. Keep up the good work
I think the way y’all spread it with the tailgate unchained is the best way. Pretty smooth spread too, so that was impressive. Thanks for the video Mike and Aaron!
Yep, spread a lot of chunky stuff with truck and dog. Have never used chains. There`s usually a machine to push it around if need be.
The only time I have ever had luck tailgating millings is when they are straight off the milling machine into the truck.
100% the exact same thing I was coming to say.
They’re still clumpy and can hang up but same here. If they’ve sat for awhile just plain forget it.
I've seen screened millings clump up in the body.
@mikebougher3731 Me too.. I have seen pea gravel clump up and cause a blockage at the tailgate too. The only time I have had ant luck at all tailgating millings, is our of the truck after the milling machine put them in there but I've still had clumps form when doing that too.
@@bobweatherford9876 The only time I've ever seen pea gravel clump is in the winter when the moisture in the pile freezes.
The first time you ran at the millings pile and you made about a foot in, then stopped like you hit a concrete curb. I knew it was going to be a fight.
Game on!
Silk purse out of a sows ear.
Fine job, you guys!
Cheers
Terry
You two are so fun! You made my day😂 No one should be upset at a milled road last 5+ years! With free millings is even better! Looks great!
And he has a place to store them- PRICELESS!
It’s very funny that was your first blown up video as it was the first video of you that I watched. And the rest is history, thanks for sticking with it as I watch your new posts every time they come up.
The highway dept here in western Mt, uses these millings to overlay county dirt roads that get a lot of traffic. It is very cost effective and I have seen them last for over five years, and sure beats the dust and chatter bumps!😄😄😄
The fact that it was five years ago already is crazy. Seems just like yesterday you put down those Millings. Time sure flys.
They redid a local road like that about 6 years ago and it is still perfect. They ground up all of the old road bed and ripped it and graded it. They put down liquid between every run (not sure if it was oil or water?) then they put the millings down and rolled them in really good.
❤❤❤❤ i say boo too the haters that criticize the way you do things. They know so little about what you do as a business owner. Love you guys.
i say you do it your way i do it the right way and let it be lol
Always going to be knowitall's critical of another's work. Take heart! They don't do. They just jaw. When they get their OWN channel, they can SHOW us all how it's done.
Great content (as usual). Keep up the good work!
There's 100 ways to skin a cat....
Glad to hear they held up so well. I finally got to putting Millings on my driveway this year. Only been waiting for 3 years to get to my own project😂 so hope it holds up 4 to 5 years because it will take that long to get to it again
That is a 200% improvement. Further, that roller is a beast, even though it struggled at times.
It's struggling because it's burning more oil than diesel. But it gets the job done 😂❤
I'm so proud of Aaron he did not use the word (YEA) but 3 times the whole video!!!! Good job buddy
It's funny that's how I started watching your videos was from that Redneck Paving video! 5 year's already unbelievable keep up the good work you guys.
That roller just paid for itself. Your wife is going to be happy so as they say " Happy Wife, Happy Life"! Looks great.
The first time you did the driveway is the first time I watched one of your videos. I don't think I've missed one since then. I hope you keep them coming.
Mike the key to any marriage, Happy wife equals happy life😊😊
You know that Wasp Smoker on the Roller is a nice upgrade feature. You should probably add a snake cage for Aaron's pet to ride along.
You'll never spread stored millings. Our driveway was fresh milling and it worked great. They store the extra to the side and it went hard like concrete. Great looking driveway.
That turned out very nice. Gotta keep the Mrs happy. Stay safe
The drive came out looking great. I spent the last 30 years of my working life operating a truck mounted roadsweeper and here in New Zealand. Part of the job was picking up those millings that didn't make it up the conveyer on the mill and if we were close to our base some ended up there for the same purpose. The millings we laid in our yard lasted about the same length of time. In actual fact one council started trialing them on some of their gravel road about 3 years before I retired but I don't know how successful it was. If you spray a light coat of diesel over the heap then break it up and mix it with the loader, spray it again then load it it will liven them back up and give a better result.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Driveway looks great. Certainly a daredevil is needed to drive the roller on that hill. Wishing you and your family the best.
The driveway video was the 1st time I watched dirt perfect and I've been watching every since.
That road held up great for all that time and heavy traffic.
I helped do Millings like that one time. We spread them like you did, graded them out. Then we sprayed Deisel on them with a spreader bar and rolled the heck out of them. The Deisel was supposed to soften the Oil in the millings some. It turned out pretty good. you guys are better at spreading than we were for sure.
@LarryBunch-q7j I heard that papers used to spray diesel into their dump beds to get the hotmix to release but EPA rules disallowed that.
Pavers, not papers
Great job running the skid steer MBTS
This, LD18, and Andrew's channels are my faves. I hear some try to criticize Andrew, but that man is a worker, and just like your and Chris' channels, it's all real.
Andrew channel is complete joke! His technique is mostly unsafe as well as finished product. He's in it for the You Tube glory...
@@andyanderson9165 Looks like you're jealous. I checked your channel out, and lo and behold, it's an empty channel. maybe you should try your luck and give us some footage of your prowess on heavy equipment.
Glad you fixed the driveway for Jenna. Gotta take care of the homefront. Nicely done.
Great video. Still think Aaron needs to put his big boy panties on sometimes and just go for it instead of worrying so much. Love watching you guys in action. Do not ever get rid of Aaron. He makes the videos pretty funny. Thanks for letting me ride along.
Great job running the payloader Mr Dirt Perfect
"Mechanic's personal Cars and Excavator's Driveways" ... good job ~ here's to another 6 years of zero resurface
Another masterful job supervised by mbts great job Aaron!
Camerata was quite the operator during that contest!!😂😂😂
Like your drive way it 's better den mine , Big truck his hard on roads .thanks guy's .
Thanks so much guys.
I never knew you can get millings until I watched your first video on your driveway. After seeing how well they hold up I'm looking into having my driveway done.
Asphalt milling make great unsealed roads, as long as it is mostly asphalt, I have seen a few loads where it was a lot more dirt than asphalt! We dont use them here anymore, the asphalt plants put it all back through and mix it into new asphalt, making it quite valuable - so the days of them needing to find someplace to get rid of millings are pretty much gone.
MBTS is on target!! Love those millings, great job. I think for MBTS to get “his” shop priority he needs to put his logo on the side of the building😂😂😂 Have a great week guys 💪🤗🇺🇸
What a great friend MBTS is volunteering on his day off to help his boss keep his boss happy.
Mike, this video was the first time since you posted about the recycling trailers fiasco that I seen those trailers. You did a great job boxing them in! 🎉
Wish I had a place up here to buy millings! It does make a great road. Great video, too! So far, I've managed to avoid algae in all my diesel equipment. Hope the trend continues. Thanks Mike and Aaron. Lee
Great job running the roller Mr Dirt Perfect
Great video Mr Dirt Perfect and MBTS
You are never an idiot for adapting best practices to fit local conditions.
That one view dumping stone looked like Honey I shrunk the man behind the screenings
Your at your driveway talking about spreading the load. Don't listen to others! You do what you want to do!!! The clumps are hard and will most likely not break up in the bed. You could put your front tires in the air or turn over the truck if your not careful!!! Feel your load!
Aaron's comedic commentary and DP's shenanigans never end! I was impressed with how well the road held up. But I believe some minor maintenance would have prevented all that rutting and erosion. At least with the extra layer, it'll be a bit more solid and hold up against mother nature a little better! That roller may not have a lot of speed, but it has some torque! The wheels wanted to keep going when the roller stopped! Definitely a better option for compacting the fresh millings!
Between you two and my 3 cups of coffee my day always starts out great and just wish it was every day as every day should start out with a good laugh and great content as i thought Mike was doing a burn out with the roller at the top of the hill for a second
Exactly! Well, now what? Gotta keep busy while waiting for the next episode! Hmmm, 2 choices, do the floors or give dog a bath.......nahhhh, time to check on the yard transformations! We'll have to bite the bullet waiting, rather patiently......
Great job guys of using what's in your hand. That will give you a few more years of serviceable use!
Wow, six years since she shut that video at seems like it was only a year or two ago time flies when you’re watching good videos keep up the good work
Millings are like gold around here.
I spread grindings all the time at a township I work for but I have to take a backhoe and bust them up and sometimes you still miss a few chunks . Grinds are good for a driveway but I don’t like them on a township road because they waste board bad. Great video like always
I had a neighbor acquire an old small dumpster. He had the dumpster on blocks and had a fire going under it. He rigged some kind of contraption to pick the dumpster up with his loader and spread the heated millings out with his blade in his tractor. They lasted about 3 years. A lot of work and time for not many years.
When the profilers first came on the scene in the 80's the millings were a waste product (until they figured out they could put them into a new hot asphalt mix years later called RAP - reclaimed asphalt product) which the quarries nearly gave away. Because it was so cheap we started doing long driveways with them like yours so it was affordable to the homeowner. We found out really quick that the best way to secure them after grading was a smooth drum vibratory roller...it worked every time (after having to go back a fix a few driveways we didn't roll initially). I know those wheel compactors do a good job for what they are made for...and this job is long done by today...but just thought I would throw out the vibratory roller idea to you for the future...it always worked for us.
Well done, the both of work well together ❤️
You have to love internet experts you guys do amazing work keep up the great videos
30:30 you can see the shit compressing in the time laps i used to work in road construction and we used whats caled here any way hot mix cold lay and it would sit in the yard for weeks some times get rained on we used shovels to patch holes in the road have to pic ever shovel off with a pic ax in a 110 hear it was brutal for less than 6 bucks a hour
Mike and Aaron great video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Thanks for watching!
Spreading works great when you have consitant material. Everybody makes it looks easy on video with perfect materials
Andrew's videos was my start of watching construction videos.
Asphalt roads need repaving. Some sooner than later. Our "new" 4 lane parkway has been repaved 3 times in 7 years because the low bidder did not do a dirt perfect job. Some body has a motor grader attachment that would make momma very happy with a smooth driveway.
We run milling thru our paver sometimes.. one thing that helps if you scoop your milling then dump it out of the loader then back drag it the loader will break up some of the chunks! Then scoop it and load in the truck
That won’t get everything but it helps
As a proud French Canadian, I was impressed with your parents giving you French names. There are Simon's in my community. Northern Ontario.
I wouldn't put my self or my truck in jeopardy for the internet . I've drove dump trucks you don't want anything obstructing the gate. I had one stand straight up all you could see was blue sky and the load pushing you . All thanks to a inexperienced backhoe operator. You have a great channel I enjoy watching
I enjoy you guys back and forth. You sound like a couple odd drunk sailors. I know this from experience. I have friends from my Navy days over 50 years ago that I still go back and forth with.
Sometimes you just have to prove people wrong. It doesn't make you look dumb at all. You simply proved it was not a good idea. The chunks are what makes it a nightmare unless you have a way to break them up. There's just so much you can do with it.
I guess I’ve been watching all your videos for 5 years because I remember when you built the driveway! Great channel!
Thank you
I've tried to tailgate blacktop millings, and it's too lumpy . Maybe aron can fix those ruts while he's at it instead of standing around waiting for you to get back .
You would think that roller with all them tires would have better traction
Works very good. But has to be in about an eight inch lift with good grindings and compacted with moisture
Long time since the that video. Now the driveway done you need to do the parking lot. :) Thank you and have a great week.
Great job!! Lesson learned is don’t listen to people who don’t know what they’re talking about!!😀
Driveway looks awesome old loader and roller and MBTS. It all come together very well Jenna should be happy also win win win 🏆👍👋🇨🇦
You know what you’re doing, trust your own instincts. Thanks for showing the video!!
How about spray painting each chain link a different color so you know that you are even on each side of the back tail gate… just an idea… besides it would suit Aaron’s personality!😂
The way I see it is that we the viewers are your customers, remember the customer is always right. 😃
Great job that is how we do the millings that we used to do the roads at the county fair grounds and work good had a guy tell us to use a steel track machine to level out with to help break up the chucks the next time we get some going to try it
I love that grader attachment. You should loan it to Captain Cleaman for the chirt he just put on his mountain path 😉. And thanks for renting Mike equipment when he needs it as well. Next time, just ignore the armchair quarterbacks and do things how you know it works for you. The driveway turned out amazing, and hopefully, it lasts for years again. Great job, Aaron and Mike.
Good morning/evening a lot of walking fetching plant nice when dry thanks 👍 great video 📸
I put millings on my driveway a few years ago. They work great, but trying to go back over it with a box scrape is rough hoeing. I had to hook up a 7 spade multi tool just to brake it all up, and then box scrape it. It’s good, but I may go back to old fashioned gravel next time it needs a touch up.
Hi mike & mbts . That tirr compactor dose a nice job fir its era! And that new attachment they eork goid what i would if done be fir speading the new millings would of been to take the sarfires over it and then put down the new batch give it something to bond to like what you do with concrete! Also taking a torch to the milling helos too
Warning to Aron! When you dig out a road ditch and put the dug material on the bank above said ditch, the dirt WILL end up in the ditch very soon with rain.
I found your channel when you posted that cause that’s what I wanted to use on my driveway. Still here years later, now watching the fun
Fun video, nice job on the hill. Great job.
Mike even after screening the asphalt I think that during the time of transport and the vibration that it caused makes the screened asphalt bond to much. Unlike stone there’s nothing in it to stick together.
when you know better and let someone goad you into doing something a different way, is the only time you look silly. not an idiot. always do the thing you know. last time worked fine, this time a little more difficult. good job, looks great
Agreed! Mike knows what works for his situations! But maybe he was showing the people who criticized him the last time that he really did know what he was doing!😁
I had an algae issue in my 450C dozer and i used a additive called killem and it worked great but i installed an inline filter before my factory filter to save using them up and after a couple times replacing the inline filter it finally cleaned up.
Great video guys and you doing things your way for you on your own property is really what it is at bro. By the way driveway turned out looking sweet too. That roller did a neat job on it. Safe travels. Ken.
Mike and Aaron when you guys start off kidding around with each other but at the end of the day you men do an awesome job also wanted to say I did all asphalt for 20 asphalt is a hot hard job but I had to retire for health reasons or I would still be doing asphalt
today ❤
You fellas should look into a frontier power rake. We recently did our cart paths on the golf course I work at with the same material. Power rake was pricey but what a great investment!!!! Our paths need little to no maintenance now. Great video though!!!👍👍👍
When they’re brand new Millings right out of the machine into the back of the truck they spread pretty nice other than that. They lump up and it’s not so much fun. Been there done that.
Keyboard warriors always have a better idea....How do the millings work with tracking in the shop / house? I typically I use 411 berm mix as a topper, works great packs good, but also tracks little pieces of crushed limestone.
Driveway ended up looking good and that's what matters. I suspect the trick to being able to spread old millings is to pre-work them like cold patch. Spread em out on a hard surface and backdrag the chunks out shortly before they go on the truck. It adds a step to the process if you have a machine on site, but might be slightly superior product being better mixed than if it's worked on site.
You have a super nice grader attachment for the skid steer 😊
