It is GREAT to see Mr. Demko do an affordable quality tacticle knife. And the fact that he put the high-end sheath with it as well. Much respect from a former soldier!
80CrV2 Spring Steel is a high-carbon spring steel that is ideal for saws and knives. It is essentially a 1080/ C75 / CS80 / 1.2235 steel with additional chromium, nickel, and vanadium. You can expect 57-58HRC on the Rockwell Hardness Scale when it comes to 80CrV2.
80crv2 is RIDICULOUSLY tough. it makes 1095 look brittle when 80crv is HT well. it’s used on a lot of hard use custom knives and semi customs like winklers for a reason
the small ones are honestly awful. 4034 shouldn’t even be considered a blade steel, it’s quite literally worse than the steel used on super cheap chinese knives. it’s even worse than 4116 steel and 4116 is already equivalent to 5cr15mov, so you’re looking at something MAYBE equal to basic 420 steel.
Yezzir Mickle doesn't pay a ton a heed to fine materials does he, heh heh. I have the tan Ready and gavemy buddy a Ready Midnight, frrreakin cool. If he can work with Kubey maybe he can get with Petrified Fish in Sandvik or Bohler k110, a Willumsens with micarta or other crazy handle is must needs
Lexan is the G E brand name polycarbonate. It comes in cast & extruded, the latter being much cheaper. The cast is stronger and more machinable. They both scratch easy, extruded scratches super easy. There are some coatings the cell phone industry has played with to prevent scratches. Evidently they never were successful since the last phone with a polycarbonate screen was the Motorola Turbo 2 years ago. It was awesome. 100% unbreakable but scratched easily but it was easily prevented with a screen protector. Polycarbonate is ldesigned to be soft because it makes it strong. Bullet proof glass is really polycarbonate plastic, using at least 1" thick cast Lexan more often 2". A ½" thick piece of extruded Lexan can catch a high power deer rifle or assault rifle easily. I have managed to shoot through ½" with .50 caliber Desert Eagle pistol. Anyway, the scratches come out like magic if U wave a torch flame over it. It just melts back perfectly clear, if U don't get it too hot. It will discolor it if it gets too hot.
i want the demko armiger 2, SOG prohen XR, and the ESEE Sencillo! I think that small demko knife would be a cool kids knife. The prohen is my style, i like the deep finger choil in the handle and the blade shape. and the Sencillo has a good blade shape and handle looks comfy
@@acid6urns I ended up buying the armiger 2 as a keychain knife for my gf and I bought the cold steel kyoto for myself. I like both. She likes the armiger 2. No complaints so far.
I adore mushroom pommels with stacked leather. It's hard to tell though, how is the pommel attached to the tang on this one? Doesn't look like an end screw. Pinned maybe?
Atta person! A Suru is want as hell. feel like a big Maniago blade is never gonna have crisp detent; let's just say a Suru would need to pop out and not fail the damn shake tests
love these vids. Every week I tune in to see if Spiderco will finally do a Paramilitary 2 with MagnaCut but alas... Luckily all these other manufacturers are filling that hole with great knives
The bronco is a hell of a deal, I think the light my fire is around $20-$30 max, I really wish Boker and Benchmade would do a convex on their bronco or the 200 and 202 models, it can’t be that much harder to do, real steel does it on some of their Bushcraft models and they are the same price as the full flat or scandi versions.
convex grinds have to be done by hand. it is more complicated and more expensive but companies like real steel have stupidly cheap labor costs so they can offer it at a much lower price than benchmade. boker idk so it depends on where the bronco is made.
I also want to see a deer with a drinking horn. Also I just picked up a Kershaw Livewire, and the ergonomics and action absolutely live up to the hype! I want to replace my BOB fixed blade, currently a Spyderco Temperance 2, to something with a tougher steel, any recommendations?
nah you can see in some videos knives like a mini bugout and smaller axis or button lock knives won’t flip shut very well. these knives are also inventory that’s going to be sold and messing with the screws especially the pivot would 100% break the blue loctite many manufacturers use on their knives to keep the screws from backing out.
The armiger 2 is really interesting to me especially for the price. If I can get an ulti-clip onto the sheath I'd be interested in making it a cheap pocket fixed blade. Also exciting for me is the Buck 110 legacy collection knife. If I manage to be able to afford it I want that. Surprisingly interesting to me is the Fox Predator 2. I like that it is reminiscent of Turzuola with its tactical aesthetic and seems capable of utility
if you want a cheap pocket fixed blade get a cold steel mini leatherneck. it’s the same $20 price as the armiger, but it has 8cr13mov instead of 4034 which is absolute complete garbage.
Hey DCA - I have been watching your channel for ages. As an avid fisherman, I have also been watching Marling Baits since he started. Even though Nate's lures are real works of art, it always pains me to see him carving them with a box cutter 😭 Can't you hook him up with some decent Morakniv wood carving knives? Cheers, Cylent One
Is it just me or is the Fox predator a direct cousin of the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert Folding Knife? Handle/lock is the same, little different blade shape I guess.
That Prohen would be right up my alley if it were not for the D2 steel. I know, I know, it's ✨cryo✨ D2...but I've yet to see any evidence that SOG's cryo treatment produces even slightly better D2 than standard D2. At $70, I'd love to see S30V or even 154CM.
Mikkel Willumse doesn't care about superst33ls but I agree maybe he should start, or at least one or two premium releases hell. I forgot if they made a fine-ass Kansept Hellx I believe so
I got a new knife for my birthday, and it is so AWESOME. I love it. Favorite knife . EDC. Scallywag tactical and TOOR knives collaboration called the MUTINY. It is black, and has a nice stonewashed blade. CPM-154 fixed blade 4 inch.
it’s crazy man. WELL DONE magnacut is awesome, but magnacut doesn’t make it automatically the best thing ever. case and point is viper heat treating their magnacut to 61 HRC, which is pretty abysmal.
Those two mini fixed blades remind me of a pic I saw of a German Shepherd that was permanently stunted and basically looked like a stocky puppy its whole life!
DCA - if you were to every day carry a neck knife with an ulticlip or something similar, what knife would you choose? Any budget is acceptable but prefer American made and somewhat higher end steel. thanks! -edit. although not a neck knife, that little armiger 2 is very enticing.
ESEE is smart to finally branch out from 1095. The edge retention of 1095 just isn't good enough for some of the types of knives they make. An example is the Ashley Game Knife, which is a perfect skinner for SE game, but 1095 is terrible for skinning. Then they came out with the AGK in S35VN, which made it probably the best skinner for the money. Would like to see them get into magnacut or cruwear.
You cannot convince me that Boker Bronco isn’t made by Benchmade… It looks basically identical to their options mentioned in the vid. Handle shape is the same but the pattern is different… The sheath is exactly the same but with a Boker logo. It is a good middle ground between the Benchmade options though. I own both, and I might have gone with this one knife had it been available at the time.
That 2 inch Demko serrated sharkfoot blade would make a good car knife for utility and emergency (seat belt cutter) for those who live in or drive through the most restrictive American cities (2.5 inch knife law cities). The low cost is good because the cities that have those laws also tend to have a lot of car break-in thefts. lol
With the Fox Multitool, the corkscrew is handy for looping Paracord through it with a tail about 2" twords the knife , grip the knife with the tail of Paracord to pull the Paracord taunt! You get a grip stronger than without any tool assistance. I've been able to go from pull weight of 19~ lbs to 45lbs of pull.
Howdy DCA, Thomas and all knife center team! How about a video show affordable (less expensive) magnacut steel folders, and other with crossbar lock type folders in the same way, affordable picks. Thanks!
I always get googly eyes when you have so many knives on the table 🤩 Your channel is easily the best for introduction of new knives and "problem solving". After seeing so many recent videos about knives and steel - where does it stop? We managed fine before D2 to do everything we wanted to do and now we're hating on 1095 steel. The steel is not decisive, the skills of the user are.

That Fox deer horn camp knife is really nice! Wish it had a Philips instead of a corkscrew, but the deer horn definitely adds some class.
Italians and their wine lol
One version Mercury made for Prometheus (I think) has the Phillips instead of the corkscrew.

That GiantMouse Nazca is 🔥🔥🔥
Buck seems to have adopted the drop point blade style as an regular alternative blade on the 110 and 112.
Thats cool. I personally prefer drop point over the clip point
They can go ahead and do a 110 in every blade on the chart, esp Buck folding Nessmuck, yuck feah
I really like the GiantMouse ACE Nazca, If it was 3.75" blade I would buy it.
A great line up this week.

It’s hard to see in my phone, but the knot in the Acta Non Verba looks like a diamond knot. I use those on my lanyards instead of beads.

What a fantastic lineup this time. Loving that Acta non Verba design. I'm just wishing it had a blade thickness and profile of the Reiff F4 (or F6)
wish sog actually had replacement springs for their lock that is bound to bust a spring....
That armiger 2 looks so unique and small! I like the dimensions. Only $20 is a steal!
