The worst audience reaction I ever saw was on a local company's TV show. Every time someone went for a pin fall, the crowd started counting along in the voice of The Count from Sesame Street, and if it was a 2 count they'd go "2! Ah ah ah!". To me, that showed that the audience wasn't invested in the story being told in the ring. I've heard about other audiences chanting "we are awesome" instead of "this is awesome". I don't understand that mentality. When I worked as a DVD producer, you'd get kids that would jump up in front of the cameras because they were excited to see themselves on the big screen, but that was maybe 10 kids who were just excited to be there. The audience used to actually care who won and who lost, they cared about the wrestlers. Now you just get a bunch of smarks who are ruining it for everyone else. Then kids at the shows will see them acting like that and they'll start to think "oh, so that's how you're supposed to react at a wrestling show". We live in a world where wrestlers will do interviews where they tell you it's all fake in mainstream publications. When Vader attacked that guy for asking if wrestling was fake, he got into a lot of trouble, but that's how they should react. Even if everyone knows it's fake, don't go screaming it at them. That'd be like having a Superman movie where every time he flies, a little disclaimer pops up saying "this was achieved using special effects, humans can't actually fly". Apologies for that turning into a rant, I just get so annoyed at what something I love has become. It's not even sports entertainment anymore because it's neither a sport or entertaining.
Man, whoever that elder guy was, that's amazing. He was such a regular for attending wrestling events that his condition was announced! What a dedicated dude. Even if you're not a fan of wrestling, surely you can respect that. Kind of reminds me of the youtuber RLSGloryandGold.
There used to also be an old lady that was a plant in the front row at WCW shows in the early 90's as well. All the early 90's WCW shows that I went to always seemed to be more kids to me but I guess I just noticed the kids more. Sting was mega over at the time though and young kids my age really loved him. Plus he was a hit with the ladies though.
People like Cornette and Al Snow think the way they do because it is what they broke into the business with. It's been 25 years since kayfabe was exposed, and with the advent of the Internet, it has completely changed into who gives the best performances. Baseball has a similar problem; many of those used to the old ways refuse to let it grow, and football and basketball have killed it as a result. Give us a better show in wrestling, and it brings in a new demographic. The old guard is still there, but the thing is, eventually they are going to die off because that's what happens.

Well, it’s become Cirque de Soliel. You know. People know it’s not real, they know how it works, it’s scripted, it’s not actually real wrestling. So who cares lol Let’s just go have a good time, let’s go see the show. But as for actually being invested in the stories and feuds, well. No lol It’s not real anyways. In sort, fans gave gotten too smart, too wise to the business. And we’re more reality oriented anyways. Before you can go watch like Friday the 13th, and get invested in the whole thing. Like people weren’t as smart back then lol Now, we’re so reality oriented, like you know a movie is just a movie, it’s not real. Well you know pro wrestling isn’t real, so, you’re not so invested in it, it’s entertainment. Like a movie. You don’t get people going crazy because an actor did something in a movie lol That’s basically what pro wrestling has become. And it’s hard to undo that.

That's it. The crowd now doesn't care who wins or loses as long as they are entertained. I wish I was a kid pre 93 again to feel that.
