@@theferryman4916 i am sorry, but when a person is unimportant enough to remember how his name is spelled isn't resignation to him being better.however, i know he isnt the best hart let alone best Canadian wrestler, so i will tender a resignation to argue.
Bret Hart. When the CBC did a poll for the "Greatest Canadian ever" on the National (flagship newscast) Bret finished 7th overall in the 1st round of voting (Out of hundreds of candidates). Bret asked for his name to be withdrawn and vote for Don Cherry instead. No wrestler in the U.S would have polled that high in a similar poll.
If any Hart were asked, I think they'd all say Stu Hart (or Owen). There are so, so many great Canadian wrestlers that its a disservice to only include the more current/popular ones.
My opinion, like it matters ,is you can't really compare the two fairly. Bret probably slightly better tech ,not that Archie wasn't skilled, but Archie was better performer. As I write this Corny saying same thing! I've seen grown ass men knock people down running from him when he hit the floor. Workers didn't have to sell his shit he had already sold it. Even people who were smart ran from him. He was that damn convincing!! What a preformer. His program with Garvin some of best I ever saw. They worked stiff as hell and seemed to love it. Bloodbaths
Piper was born in Saskatoon. The story is Brets uncle was married to Pipers cousin. They arent blood family but Piper looks at the Harts as his family and the Harts look at Piper like family.
Maratime greats Leo burke. ...Sweet Daddy Siki....big Stephen Petipas...The Beast...No Class Bobby Bass...Killer Karl Krupp....so many fantastic memories
Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. He is a global icon while Archie is some old guy nobody has heard of. Bret had international appeal and sold out a 100.000 crowd show in India as WWF Champion in 1996. Enough said.
Gotta go with Watson. From about 1944 to the late 50s, he went coast-to-coast and was probably the most recognizable wrestler in Canada until Bret's big push in the early 90s. And even in his twilight years of the 1960s, he could still draw, even if not as well as he had in his feuds with Nanjo Singh, Bill Longson, Robert, and Kiniski. Would it surprise anyone to know that Watson played the subtle heel in his matches against Robert in Quebec, but they reversed things in their matches in Toronto? No? I didn't think so...😁
I used to say Chris Benoit... But with Jericho's work in NJPW this year, it's pushed it for me. I haven't cared for Jericho for about a decade, from 05-16, but then he has a great feud with Styles, the Owens thing, him and Omega, etc.
Oh, Bret without a doubt. Not just because he was a main eventer and perennial WWF champion with international fame, but also the quality of his matches, the detail he put them together with and his ability to get other guys over, most notably Stone Cold Steve Austin.
No. Pillman played football in the Canadian Football League, and when he got out of football he was trained by the Hart brothers to be a pro wrestler. When he first started wrestling it was for the Hart family in Stampede Wrestling, where he also had his first big push as part of the tag team Bad Company with Bruce Hart. And he became very close to the Hart Family. That seems to be why he's closely associated with the Hart family & Canada. If you knew all of this...my bad.
Stomper spent a very short time in AWA. He had a manager (don't remember who it was), but I remember during the interview segments that Stomper would bend one of those lex-flexer spring bars, and would silently mumble the whole time as his manager talked. You'd see Stomper's lips going a hundred miles an hour as he stared into the camera.
Roddy Piper! He was here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and he was all out of bubble gum his whole life. He's gotta be in the discussion because his over the top character, abilities and fame demands it.
Not that he's necessarily the best wrestler, but it's important to note that Brock Lesnar is a Canadian citizen, the most frightening immigrant we've ever had.
Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling was the first wrestling I was ever exposed to. I wish it wasn't overlooked so much like it is. At least there are videos on here from back in those days.
Edge, Christian, Owens are all decent 'mid-card' world champions, but they were never the top faces of the company. Bret & Owen are literally half-American, while Jericho was actually born in New York if I remember correctly. Benoit was probably the top pure Canuck wrestler of all time, given his accomplishments, talent, and overall legacy (minus the killing thing).
WWE is BETTER than NJPW! New Japan SUCKS! Edge as a mid card world champ..? Man he is right there with Hunter and Orton for the best since heel act since the turn of the century. As the other guy said most title reigns in wwe history. It’s hard to be the face of a company when you’re not a baby face.. Also his live sex celebration after his first title win was the highest rates segment in years. So he certainly had drawing power
Jericho and Bret but I'm biased as Bret fan but truthfully it's Jericho. If we are talking 100% pure Canadians it's Benoit.. just weird to bring him up sometimes.
Bret....end of discussion
owen was better than brett.
@@paulbledsoe3392 You can't even write Bret's name right, so....

Whipper Billy Watson! Mad Dog Vachon! Jacques Rougeau! Roddy Piper! There are soooo many to name.
What f ing drugs are people taking? The greatest canadian wrestler, nay athlete, hails from Hamilton, Ontario .... Iron Mike Sharp.
No it's Leo Burke
true dat!!
Mike's title as "Canada's greatest athlete" largely stemmed from his achievements in figure skating and rhythmic gymnastics though.
Also. the cleanest.
Did everyone forget Piper was Canadian?
Matthew Dunn That was my first thought as well.
Wasn't he Owen and Bret Hart's cousin?
Matthew Dunn I didnt
@@jb111082 Yea
@EvanKing He was not terrible...holy fuck.

Gene Kiniski held the NWA world title for 3 years!
and the AWA belt...the only one to do that
He used to swim at the pool I trained at for the Paralympic Trials in 2000. I remember seeing him there in the 90s and my dad was gaga over him.
@@dansmith8059 And the Montreal World title, too. He was huge for years and years

For me it’s these five;
Stu Hart
Chris Jericho
Lance Storm
Owen
Bret
Roddy Piper????????
Benoit????
Adding a child killer would probably be bad form.
maxx dahl i understand that hut you have to admit he was one hell of a wrestler.
Once you kill a child, I really don't care about your workrate (No offense intended to you personally man.)
Personally:
1) Whipper Billy Watson
2) Bret Hart
3) Rick Martel
4) Roddy Piper
5) Killer Kowalski
6) Edge
Rick Martel was definitely underrated.
Damn no jerico
What about Rocky Johnson? He’s black Canadian Nova Scotian
The Rock’s dad was Canadian?
@@christhornycroft3686 yes from Amherst Nova Scotia

Being Canadian my 3 favs are Brett, Owen and Lance Storm.
Bret Hart hands down.

Either Bret or Chris, both are hell of wrestler and are amazing technicians.

Bret was flawless in ring.
Jaques Cousteau
Rene Dupree, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Gene Kiniski
Gene Kiniski
Stomper was incredibly over in any territory he ever went, stampede, wwa indianapolis, memphis, etc.
My faves from Canada.....Brett Hart, Chris Jericho, Piper, Owen Hart, Rick Martel, Ronnie Garvin. Is Pillman from Canada?
What about Iron Mike Sharpe? Was the greatest athlete from Canada also! Ive always heard if you keep saying it then you are
Then Honky Tonk Man is the Greatest Intercontinental Champion Of All Time.
Benoit in his prime
What about Gene Kiniski? He was NWA World Heavyweight Champion for 3+ Years and also had a short run as AWA Champion.
Chris Benoit or Bret
That would be a difficult one, You have The Harts, Jericho, Lance Storm, Edge /Christian, Kenny Omega, Kevin Stern, Ric Martel the list is endless.
Benoit also

Iron Mike Sharpe, hands down.
Lol, but in all seriousness, Mike's dad and uncle, The Sharpe Brothers, are a historically important tag team.
Eduard Carpuntia
Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Owen Hart
Easy answer...Bret "Hitman" Hart.
is the best not a massive matter of vague opinion. is the best a matter of wins or personality?
Archie Gouldie Mongolian Stomper was greatest heel of my childhood wrestling heros.
Jacques Rougeau FTW haha
Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho, no discussion

Jericho and Bret but I'm biased as Bret fan but truthfully it's Jericho. If we are talking 100% pure Canadians it's Benoit.. just weird to bring him up sometimes.
KENNY OMEGA

Jim, the way you slapped around your employee and called that minimum wage Dairy Queen drive through girl a "cunt" was amazing.
Probably Gene Kiniski. Bret is overrated as fuck honestly. People treat him like he's top 10 all time material when he does well to crack the top 50.
