Is it safe to do this while the fish in the tank? I scrapped some residue off the back of my betta tank while I was changing his water, so I was sucking up the residue while scrapping. However, my poor betta got sick a few days later and ultimately died in the following weeks. I keep I thinking I killed him by scrapping his tank.

I’m assuming that none of these tanks ur using the razor blade on are acrylic. Wouldn’t the razor blade damage acrylic?
