      I have been in the hobby for 60 years and the only new tank I've ever owned was the first one, which I got as a birthday present when I was a kid. And at one time I had 2-125 gallons, 2-50s, 3-30s, 1-20, 4-15s, 1-10, and various 1 to 5 gallons for quarantine, breeding, hospital, whatever, going at once. That was a lot for me.

    • @NaturalAquaria

      I'd avoid putting wood in bleach; would can act like a sponge and absorb anything it's in which can be problematic. For wood a firm bristle brush and peroxide are a great combo.

      Just need a stronger acid. I've used muriatic (pool) acid for really stubborn buildup, but it's dangerous stuff to work with so you have to be super careful. Full PPE and it needs to be diluted dramatically. I dont recommend it to your average hobbyist, but it sure does work.

    Thomas, any tips or methods you can share for removing hard water stains from the glass. I've tried white vinegar & baking soda with little effect. Very reluctant to use Bar Keepers Friend as the tank is too heavy to lift for rinsing afterwards... Currently I'm just hoping those stains won't show when I finally fill it with RO/DI water. Any thoughts? Thanks :-)

    • @NaturalAquaria
      @NaturalAquaria  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One of the best tools for that job is muriatic (pool) acid. You have to be extremely careful working with it, use the proper PPE, and it does need to be diluted in water as it's an extremely corrosive acid.
      Before going down that road, I usually give the razor blade a try. Getting a handle for the flat razor can give you a better purchase on it for scraping off stubborn limescale.
