Summary:
In this popular scene of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan has just faced Dabura and unfortunately with Majin Vegeta and Goku battling in the background, enough negative energy has been created to resurrect Majin Buu. Gohan remembers the power he tapped into to beat Cell and launches his last attacks before Buu rises again.

The first part of the scene is so dramatic and has a lot of feeling to it.
I think the Buu Saga could have been so much better if it was taken in a different direction.
I think it's a really cool feature with Gohan, he has emotions and feelings that are seen in the battles. Goku and Vegeta lack that, they're all just about fighting. It's another reason why Future Trunks is so cool, there's a more emotions involved when he's fighting, makes things more serious and dramatic.
I love it how they tried to tease us with the sparks, like he was actually about to do it.
I know and in the end he only manages a full power-ssj1.

And that's when the fusion saga began. 🤔I was like okay if he can somehow defeat buu by going super Saiyan 3 himself. Even though super Buu got the two kids and piccolo he can still beat him. 😎💯
Teenage Gohan would have defeated Dabura, adult Gohan was to far gone and hadn't felt threatened in so long that he prolonged the attack on them before Buu hatched. If it was literally right after Cell, Gohan would have snapped into action quicker.

I think Dabura is stronger than Cell, so SSJ2 Gohan would've struggled. But had he continued training, he would've won.

I think deep down it DID. You can tell it still haunts him. He's emotional and had a sense of fear when he tried to take Out Buu hatching. I really believe he was gonna go ss2 again because the combination of Goku reminding him of his fight with Cell and Cell HIMSELF. But it was already too late .
ok ik GT is non cannon but I think Kamehameha waves can be different colors because SSJ4 Goku and his full power Kamehameha wave it was a red color right well maybe it's like that to it's just that the yellow one is weak but gets stronger Gohan maybe made some changes like Goku and his Kaio-ken attack in DBS bare with me on this I'm sure it is possible u can make changes in your attacks to make them more stable and efficient and let's not forget Gohan had very little training in that 7 year gap after the Cell games he did a small amount of training with his little brother Goten but he made up for it when he got his Mystic power even though he still didn't beat Super Buu

Let’s take a moment and remind ourselves that Gohan has NEVER been a competent or thrill seeking fighter. Meaning, he’s always need a push from either his loved ones talking to him or them being in life threatening danger. Plus, he’s never enjoyed fighting, he’s only done it for defense reasons. That being said, Toriyama could have wrote him better for the Buu arc, I and others have said how he could have been written without things getting too boring with him always winning and always being powerful. I admire the shot Toriyama took at shaking things up a bit to keep interest in the series with Gohan losing a bit of power and his fighting sense, I know that on first viewing I(others as well I’m sure)still liked Gohan in the Buu saga and wanted to see if and how he’ll end up getting his power back and save the day. Of course, Toriyama made the decision to revert back to having Goku as the hero and the strongest due to several theories. Honestly, I don’t care if he just decided what he was doing with Gohan wasn’t working or if he did it because of fans or his editors got on his case. Whatever the reason, DB didn’t go the way it was originally intended and I think it and Toriyama would have been better off ending it with Cell. However, ppl don’t seem to see that Gohan isn’t THAT much weaker here. We’ve seen that he’s still got his amazing power inside of him, and is still capable of standing up to Cell level threats. Not to mention it took 7 years of rigorous training for Goku and Vegeta to surpass him. 7 years and he’s still not that far behind them. Not to mention, even if he kept up his training(which I don’t think he completely abandoned)nothing he could do on his own could prepare him for Buu. Granted that was never the idea, as the original plan was to prevent his resurrection, but the series would have been boring if they just plowed through Babadi and Dabura. We’ve seen characters get beat by new threats throughout the series so I don’t get why fans are super pissed about Gohan losing to Buu here, even if he was a stronger SS2 than he was against Super Perfect Cell, he’d have lost.

That’s the cons of being half Saiyan. While he had the most potential out of everyone, he wasn’t fully interested in fighting like a full blooded Saiyan

you do realise that in the first ever saga (the saiyan saga) vegeta who was a weakling compared to how strong they are now, could destroy the earth with his galet gun attack. Just because you can blow up a planet doesn't make you strong in dragon ball z.

Gohan should have kept training. Even training with Vegeta would have been beneficial. They are both powerhouses, and with Goku gone, the Z fighters needed to unite.

That was released on all anger, personally I hated its progression, Cell Saga was the real end. And what's worse is that Gohan was supposed to be the main character but the creator thought people would complain how it was like repeating Goku's childhood, and he shouldn't be the victor again. Another thing, when Vegeta committed suicide, that is what should've killed Buu, then every main character would've had a fulfilling victory.
I'm sure, if this Gohan in Ssj2 would have used his anger against the Old Broly, in the 10th Dbz movie, he could beaten him.

I don't get it. Why was he afraid? He already showed he could fight Dabura and Babidi could be killed by the Supreme Kai.
Buu has a way of striking fear into the hearts of his opponents. Its actually part of his character. He's a demon. And gohan hearing all the stories of how evil and overpowered Buu was scared the shit out of him.

You know I agree that maybe strength wise Broly is stronger than Cell but doesn't have the regenerative abilities. This entire cannon annoyed me between SS3 Gotanks and Ultimate Gohan basically being a filler.
I understand that but gohan ssj2 form is more of a power up gohan can achieve. cell super perfect form is just a code right from goku cells and king kai and bubbles and if gohan went full power he would have a better change because of the fact he a ssj2 he can bring up a lot of power cell isn't able too achieve past that form. Super saiyan 2 gohan can go full power and launch the biggest kamehameha if he just take goku advice and remember what he learn after the fight against cell. So once again I think gohan can win but it won't be easy and gohan as a adult his body is more developed. And gohan know cell weak put of his regeneration. And cell know gohan rage
