I am not a hindu but I will say this: Hinduism is very ancient & it has survived to this day. Nothing can destroy its religious teachings nor its culture. It will go on even if there are people who try to change it to suit their whims and fancies. But yes, we should bring awareness so we know what priests like these are up to.
It has been going on for a while. Rajiv Malhotra had written and talked about it. Leela Samson, Bharathnatyam the teacher of Priyanka Vadhora, is one of the main culprits. She was put in charge of the famous Khalashetra school and she decoupled Hinduism from the roots of Bharatanatyam ! So many of our own folks are in self inflicted coma. I have funded Ghar wapsi program, I sponsor Ekal schools in Bharath regularly and I actively raise my voice against all anti Sanatana dharma activities. I have written to my MP regarding BD Hindu genocide in Sydney. I have been fighting against msm and academias in Australia and their biased coverage of India. Getting tired at the end of the day. What makes me mad is the apathy and total lack of knowledge of our own Hindus. The audacity these fools have to claim something as their own so shamelessly ! They think it is their God given mandate to do this. The church had given the mandate to Europeans to colonize the infidels by declaring them "persona non grata" (not even a person, i.e. savages). I have seen this while i was a faculty at Christ University. Yoga is commercialized and polluted in US and now traditional dance form, i was surprised many are participating and learning Tantric practice like Chandi Homa without understanding the unifying concept in Santana Dharma and Buddhist tradition practiced in Himalayas.

Once I visited one south indian colleague's home. I found christ photo along with other hindu devi devtas. She performed all the rituals and i could remember I saw yeshu sahasranam .

I am a Christian and an artist originally from NYC, a melting pot on the East Coast. Even though I respect everyone's beliefs, I do not combine them. I love the Indian culture, the food, the style, the dances, the stories and legends but I do not believe in their deities. I am also transparent about my beliefs WHEN I need to be but I do not impose those beliefs on anyone. I know classical Hindu dances are dedicated to their deities, so I don't use them and just admire its complexity and history. I keep the things I admire and what I believe separate. I am in a loving relationship with a Guyanese man who is Hindu and he is tolerant of my Christian faith as I am tolerant of His Hindu faith. We speak comfortably and openly about our faiths and though we see similarities, we do not combine them and we do not argue over differences. We know right from wrong and good against evil and God will show us our paths. But, cultural appropriation is wrong. Christ and Krishna are not the same. If people want to convert to Christianity that is a choice but they need the truth as it is laid out in the Bible. When the Israelites tried combining pagan beliefs with their worship, God was angry with them and gave them a stern warning. The Bible says that we are known by our fruits. You will know a true Christian from a false Christian. True God-fearing Christians will NOT combine other religious beliefs and worship other gods. Jesus Christ shouldn't look like another Hindu avatar. The same way Jesus Christ shouldn't look like anything to fit the cultural or racial ideals of any person. He was born a Jew. He was born of the Holy Spirit and of Mary a betrothed virgin. He was born in the line of David. He was born to save the world. IF there are evangelical Christians using Hinduism to subliminally plant Christian themes into the religion, it is wrong. There is no need to be sneaky. The Bible is clear and Jesus Christ is transparent with everything He says. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. You cannot force or trick anyone to believe in God. That is not the Way or the Truth. People who willingly come to Christ and want to understand and build a legitimate relationship with God deserve the truth. And the truth is that God is not a Hindu deity. Never was. Jesus Christ is not a Hindu deity. And neither is the Holy Spirit. Mary is not a deity in any way. This is where Christians and Catholics differ. Mary was willing and was a dedicated servant of the Lord but she is not a god. Christians do not worship Mary. She was chosen to be a vessel for the baby Jesus but she always referred to herself as a humble servant. She never called herself more than that and neither should we. Evangelical Christians should not implicate God, Christ, or the Holy Spirit in other religious beliefs. They know better. The two are separate. It is important that missionaries are honest and give a true account of the Bible and of God. I hope this is not happening in India or anywhere but if it is, I hope there are real Christians out there who see this and will immediately correct their brothers and sisters from this grave error. A Hindu will not know how to correct a Christian who is wrong with their information or teaching but another Christian, stronger in the Word and obedient to God will know how to correct the wrong. Christians are not perfect but those who use coercion are wrong. God works through His people and corrects His people through His people. I am against Hindus using extreme acts of violence against pastors, believers and entire communities of converts. They attack people who have made a conscious and heart choice to believe and follow the Lord and they were not coerced. Let true Christians investigate these matters because we do not want to disrespect anyone. But, if anyone wants to believe, willingly, do not stop them. There is a difference between coercion and following a calling. Coercion is led by men. A Calling is led by Christ.

I came across few videos posted by converts from odisha. In church they were performing odishi and i couldn't remember the song on which they were performing. What astonished me was that odishi and odishi songs ( janana/bhajan) are performed for Lord Jagannath and it praises different attributes of Lord Jagannath. They are destroying our culture.

This is not the first time when Indian mythology has been presented wrongly to the world by the western people, apart from Bharatnatyam another example can be given like Yoga. There are important observations here and as an Indian, I feel alarmed at what the Christians are doing with Bharatanatyam. Well, no culture would appreciate anything with religious elements being appropriated into another religious slant- clearly the case here. Indian dance forms and music are so exquisite that I can understand why other cultures would gravitate to it. And no, i don't think 'Hinduism' comes under a threat and that Hindus will have to get close-minded about who they impart dance or music forms too. I don't agree with your concluding statements that all Muslims artists disregard Indian art forms. Those were some sweeping statements. You know many ustaads in Hindustani music are Muslim and are fantastic at respecting, spreading, teaching classical Indian music. Just that Indian indifference about their cultural aspects is dangerous- something that all cultures are facing. Indians (most) want to be admired by other cultures. Just look at the pull of reaction videos by foreigners. So yes, other cultures will continue to learn. Can't close your windows. Every culture needs to respect its own culture, propagate it, and not become closedminded to others as well. Like it or not, we live in an increasingly global world. Oh my goodness, who said Bharatanatyam is a hindu thing? The name is given in 1930s. It is called Sathiraattam. And it is performed as a social art. Not necessarily anything to do with religion. Some kings used them to dance in temples to tell story. Otherwise, this dance form is used to tell a story of different kinds.

I have funded Ghar wapsi program, I sponsor Ekal schools in Bharath regularly and I actively raise my voice against all anti Sanatana dharma activities. I have written to my MP regarding BD Hindu genocide in Sydney. I have been fighting against msm and academias in Australia and their biased coverage of India. Getting tired at the end of the day. What makes me mad is the apathy and total lack of knowledge of our own Hindus. Islam and Christianity are struggling in the modern age. They are trying to survive in the age of science. In the West, churches are closing down while in Western and Islamic countries, people , especially young people are leaving Islam in huge numbers.

I am a Christian and an artist originally from NYC, a melting pot on the East Coast. Even though I respect everyone's beliefs, I do not combine them. I love the Indian culture, the food, the style, the dances, the stories and legends but I do not believe in their deities. I am also transparent about my beliefs WHEN I need to be but I do not impose those beliefs on anyone. I know classical Hindu dances are dedicated to their deities, so I don't use them and just admire its complexity and history.
I keep the things I admire and what I believe separate.
I am in a loving relationship with a Guyanese man who is Hindu and he is tolerant of my Christian faith as I am tolerant of His Hindu faith. We speak comfortably and openly about our faiths and though we see similarities, we do not combine them and we do not argue over differences.
We know right from wrong and good against evil and God will show us our paths.
But, cultural appropriation is wrong.
Christ and Krishna are not the same.
If people want to convert to Christianity that is a choice but they need the truth as it is laid out in the Bible.
When the Israelites tried combining pagan beliefs with their worship, God was angry with them and gave them a stern warning.
The Bible says that we are known by our fruits. You will know a true Christian from a false Christian.
True God-fearing Christians will NOT combine other religious beliefs and worship other gods.

He was born a Jew.

The Bible is clear and Jesus Christ is transparent with everything He says. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. You cannot force or trick anyone to believe in God. That is not the Way or the Truth. People who willingly come to Christ and want to understand and build a legitimate relationship with God deserve the truth. And the truth is that God is not a Hindu deity. Never was. Jesus Christ is not a Hindu deity. And neither is the Holy Spirit.
Mary is not a deity in any way. This is where Christians and Catholics differ. Mary was willing and was a dedicated servant of the Lord but she is not a god. Christians do not worship Mary. She was chosen to be a vessel for the baby Jesus but she always referred to herself as a humble servant. She never called herself more than that and neither should we.
Evangelical Christians should not implicate God, Christ, or the Holy Spirit in other religious beliefs.
They know better.
The two are separate.
It is important that missionaries are honest and give a true account of the Bible and of God.
I hope this is not happening in India or anywhere but if it is, I hope there are real Christians out there who see this and will immediately correct their brothers and sisters from this grave error.
A Hindu will not know how to correct a Christian who is wrong with their information or teaching but another Christian, stronger in the Word and obedient to God will know how to correct the wrong.
Christians are not perfect but those who use coercion are wrong.
God works through His people and corrects His people through His people.
I am against Hindus using extreme acts of violence against pastors, believers and entire communities of converts. They attack people who have made a conscious and heart choice to believe and follow the Lord and they were not coerced.
Let true Christians investigate these matters because we do not want to disrespect anyone.
But, if anyone wants to believe, willingly, do not stop them.
There is a difference between coercion and following a calling.

I had noticed this since my time in a a Catholic run college in Chennai in the 85-91 period. They were just starting. I tried to raise my concern at how wrong this is, & to what end they are doing it. Now we see its target being the digestion of Bharatanatyam into Christian art form. Shameless plagiarists, betraying their gurus who taught them in good faith, naively!

A couple of nusns used to go to the Music academy to learn Music. Father Barbosa had given a dance performance & was briefly disciplined. Many foreigners were coming to India to learn at Kalakshetra, then ( Before Leela Samson & her DeHinduisation attempts there)
Classical dance is purely based on Natya Sastra. Rest all dances which are now prevailing is considered as only jumping Jack concertse.

This is not the first time when Indian mythology has been presented wrongly to the world by the western people, apart from Bharatnatyam another example can be given like Yoga. Yoga originated in India thousands of years ago but some western companies are making lots of money by calling it their own invention, I am not saying that you should not do yoga but at least give credit to the things that are actully belongs from what/where.

There are important observations here and as an Indian, I feel alarmed at what the Christians are doing with Bharatanatyam. Well, no culture would appreciate anything with religious elements being appropriated into another religious slant- clearly the case here. Indian dance forms and music are so exquisite that I can understand why other cultures would gravitate to it. And no, i don't think 'Hinduism' comes under a threat and that Hindus will have to get close-minded about who they impart dance or music forms too. I don't agree with your concluding statements that all Muslims artists disregard Indian art forms. Those were some sweeping statements. You know many ustaads in Hindustani music are Muslim and are fantastic at respecting, spreading, teaching classical Indian music. Just that Indian indifference about their cultural aspects is dangerous- something that all cultures are facing. Indians (most) want to be admired by other cultures. Just look at the pull of reaction videos by foreigners. So yes, other cultures will continue to learn. Can't close your windows. Every culture needs to respect its own culture, propagate it, and not become closedminded to others as well. Like it or not, we live in an increasingly global world. And we can work to make it healthier.

Oh my goodness, who said Bharatanatyam is a hindu thing? The name is given in 1930s. It is called Sathiraattam. And it is performed as a social art. Not necessarily anything to do with religion. Some kings used them to dance in temples to tell story. Otherwise, this dance form is used to tell a story of different kinds.
