Never had an alarm fail on me. Used cheap £50 set in all weathers, including torrential rain and no issue, had old Fox's that never fail. Now have new direction K9s and S9's and they have never failed me. Most alarms are way overpriced for what they are.
The k9s were bulletproof in the 3 years I had them (got stolen) but all of my S9s succumbed to the elements within a 8 months to a year and a half, the receivers on both sets showed signs of water ingress almost immediately (fogged up screens) but that was an easy fix by just keeping it in a ziplock bag
My mate had the cheep nash sirens and as soon as it rained it blocked the speakers up never worked right after that and funny enough it was the same lad who told me about ATTs alarms and he was right brilliant simple weather proof I wouldn't buy anything else
No need to lash out 600 quid on three alarms and sounder box. My Fox MX second hand alarms are faultless, and these seem just as good at a decent price.
Yeah Fox's are great, since my original Optonics passed away i've had Fox Micron's ever since, not even the fancy ones am using MX+'s atm. All you need for them is to make a sound/light when the line moves. I would prefer a newer/better alarm with a different sound for a drop back but that's all it's missing, but the new generation of even the low end Micron's do have that now. I do like the look of the Gardener alarms though, nice and simple. I would miss the off switch on the ATTs though, as i'll often have my rods in while i go for a look around and it would be a pain to have to go get the case out to put over them.
Been using Atts underlit alarms for years. Battery life is awesome but the batteries cant just be bought at your local shop. I also bought 4 and 6 magnet rollers as the orignal rollers werent sensitve enough for some of my fishing situations. The addition of snag ears for me was also a must. Thats about all the downsides i can think off! 3 alarms and reciever for about £260 seems ok to me but lets face it all alarms do the same job so just use whatever takes your eye and suits your wallet. 😊
No unfortunately not, line comes out of the rollers too easily (luckily I heard the baitunners) and also you really need to open them every year and let the gas produced by the battery escape so it doesnt corrode the internals. Having said that it took me years to replace them because other than the above they’re bulletproof. We replaced ours with 2nd hand nash R3s and these have been even more reliable
I absolutely love my silent alarms. Never once failed me. I just wish every single other person had them instead of having full volume alarms around the lake….
No point in fuffing about pushing a button 2 or 3 times when all you need to do is : go to your local tackle shop, buy rollers with different amount of magnets in, go home, find a screwdriver, undo the screws, put the desired roller in and do the screws up again. Yeah much more straight forward.

Just a question, old fox microns with extention socket work excellent. But is there a list of compatible "recent" alarms on the market (from customers or gardner themself) which are compatible with the attx dongles which fit the microns from fox. Because i know that power out is not simular as a extention box socket/plug option.
TLBs are for those that dont have to have the going trend thing. You could bang nails in with the stainless ones, and I once had one (shop display) in a pint glass of water for 7 months, still working fine. As for the crystal thing, nah.
Don’t sound simple having change rollers etc,I always used cheap alarms, advanta at moment, they have all the functions as more expensive alarms and they are reliable, I think a lot of marketing is based on catching anglers not fish
All Anglers want no matter what the budget is ,is gear that works and if companies sell them they should be reliable because they are taking people's money.
The first TLB alarms were silent, they ran from a corded sounder box that was an absolute nightmare in the rain, the only battery was in the receiver.. i beleive these were the first silent alarm,
Let's face it it's like everything else in the world its all about scamming us lot by names better the name bigger the price think its mad how much the terminal tackle is costing aswell will never give it up no matter how high the prices get bit still seems like people love for the sport has turned into filling there pockets
Im looking at getting my first set of alarms, why would I spend 300 odd quid on these over the New Direction N1 alarms which are £100 for a 3 rod set with a reciever?
To be honest I never liked these as they rely on a separate sounder. I prefer my alarms to be self contained with an option to use a remote sounder rather than only working with one. My old Delkim's from the 1990's still work perfect and have never let me down although I have used Prologic SMX's for the last five years as they work with a separate sounder when I need it. I didn't fancy spending hundreds of pounds getting my Delkim's to work with a sounder. If I did want to get a remote for the Delkim's now then New Direction do an alarm set that will work with the Delkims for very sensible money. The most unreliable alarms I had were my Optonics. The on/off switch constantly failed.

Att alarms are great just don't work if reciever fails. Stopped me from changing from my trusted tlbs to be honest.

Is there a rod pod to go with the 10-alarm system? That could put the odds in my favour.

Yep. Had mine for years and still going strong. Plus they have a range of spare parts on their website to replace worn parts.

I'm only using sonik vaders an tbh 8 settings on volume 8 settings on sensitivity never failed me and was only 80 for 2 and a receiver
The only reasons my atts’s are now my backups is the fact that changing the wheels for different situations is a slight ball ache

Because they will work for years if you look after them. Look up reviews for the ND stuff and customer service is terrible.

I'm confused what have snag ears got to do with fishing snaggy situations ?? I thought they were there to snag the rod on a violent take.
Generally when snag fishing you'd be fishing locked up against a snag, which like you say would result in a more violent take 😉

Had the basic tlb for 10 years never let me down just remove the battery when not in use. Most of the extra stuff on alarms now is just a gimmick.
