I love your tutorials … you’re the most informative and clearest carpenter among most of TH-camr on structural matters ! Bravo
Thanks and glad to hear.
Super video, Greg.
Glad you liked it and thanks again for commenting.
Do you have a video showing repair/replacement of the main support beam that runs down the middle of the house
If I do then they should be at our website and here's a link. www.homebuildingandrepairs.com/remodeling/framing/index.html let me know if you can't find what you're looking for.
Do you have a video where the outside frame where the floor joists connect to has separated from the joist?
Love your content, super informative!
Edit: I’m currently working on a sagging floor where the floor joists have sunk due to rainwater not being redirected.
Here's a link to our website it might be helpful. Click on the floor framing section and there's even a floor joist repair section you might want to check out. It also sounds like you might want to go to the repairs tab and check out some of the foundation repairs also.

Hi Greg, I had the home I am purchasing inspected. I have a copy of the report and I understand you are not taking on clients. I have a few questions about the best way to go about repairs on the floor joists and repairing a girder beam. What is the best way to contact you? Thank you for your time!
Thank you.
Do you do consulting. I'm a home owner just trying to get sag out of my joists. Some have splits in knots. Some may have been crown down. I'm wondering if I attached the sister everywhere, if the memory in the sagging board would force the sister to sag as well. Should I sister and only attach fasteners at the ends and not near the middle?
I would go to the website first.

I have a floor sag on a new addition from what appears to be an improperly crowned floor joist. Would shiming between the floor joist and the plywood flooring suffice to correct the problem? Or will the floor joist continue to bend with the years?
The only problem with that is that the shims could fall out and yes the joist could continue to sag overtime. However, if you could use some type of adhesive to prevent the wedges or shims from moving, then you could always try it. If it fails later on, then you could remove and replace the damaged joist.
Thank you
You're welcome
Hey Greg, if I have a few joists (2 x 6) in a row that are sagging (not visibly but the floor is low in the middle of where the joists are by a few inches at some points) and they span across 10ft, do you think it's a good idea to run a support beam underneath
. The support beam would then be supported by peirs. I would like to add support by effectively cutting the joist length span in half
I like it and we do have more videos at our website on floor framing or crawlspace repairs.
