@@aandyherr817you can sue cigarette companies for getting cancer even though they put a warning on the box. But as far as you calling it a suicide truck you're wrong. It’s worth noting that because of physics, having the door close on one finger would actually cause a lot more damage than closing on 4. So this dude actually gave the truck an advantage, and it still failed horribly.
My grandma had her fingers closed in a car trunk once, she was okay and nothing broke. Just some sore fingers for a while, but the scream of pain she let out HAUNTS ME. I was about 10 when i witnessed that and im now 25 and I ALWAYS clear the hood or trunk when closing it, just incase. Because whenever i open a trunk i hear her scream and double check that all hands are removed from the frame.

Man they really should install a feature where, (since the hand will allow the passing of current) if the gate even touches the hand, a circuit gets complete and that stops the gate... Simple fix.
For an outdoor car this could have a lot of potential problems, rain, snow, etc. Having it stopped based off of mechanical resistance instead is a lot more reliable and cheaper to do. Plus something can get between that isn’t actually conductive, what if you have a glove on
The cybertruck looks cool (imo) but That thing shouldn't have made it past the concept stage, its got sharp edges (not good for pedestrians) and it seems to protect itself more than the driver.
fr, think about cars from the early 90's, indestructible, but the driver felt the impact. also about the edges, there are major pop up headlight regulations due to the sharp edges they tend to have, but this thing is allowed?? europe did not allow it i think.
Yeah, and the autopilot ain’t perfect, and as you can see it has many features that are missing that should be required. Many of todays cars with automatic trunks have sensors that stop if something it in the way of closing. Example, a Ford explorer. This doesn’t. The back of the truck wasn’t gonna have a visible opening, and the cameras were supposed to rid of that, but because of current laws they were required to put in blind spot mirrors on the sides and inside.
@@themonkeoftehtrees8645 its not because of the pop up hesdlights, its generally just sharp angles. You can desing 101 non sharp popup headlights, but 1: they do not last and 2: its expensive
Ever had the shocks on a car fail while trying to change your battery while its 20f outside landing perfectly on your pinky finger, hurts like a motherfucker.
I mean any hood of a car could either break or slice your fingers off depending on how hard you slam it so yes you can and will be hurt if you do that!
lmao no way man. You'd need to drop 100 lbs on the hood to do the kind of damage. Not to mention the weight that's closing the hood is completely different to the wieght you'd receive from a normal hood being slammed.
Dude… if youre closing the hood with your hands there is no way you could put enough pressure on it to take your fingers off. Pointlessly electrical auto closing hood.. apparently it doesnt care but you are not taking your fingers off with good old manual systems even if you let it drop from fully lifted to closed at worse youll get a break.
What??? Even if you accidentally slam a regular hood as hard as you can, it will bruise the finger, or at most break a bone. This thing sliced the fingers clean off like a knife.
That’s just not true because car hoods are not automated, so when you close them yourself theirs no way you can get your finger in there and if you did it’s still not a sharp piece of stainless steel on most cars. Tesla made an automated hood with sharp corners and didn’t put a sensor that prevents this. Muskrats always amaze me
1) the amount of force required to do that is way more than you’re talking. 2) so many new cars that are less than half the price have a pressure sensor anyways which prevents accidents like that happening.
You say that, yet people are stupid enough to not be paying attention to where their buddy is bracing themself on their car while they fix their shoe. I say this as someone who has seen that happen and someone break fingers because of they didn't think their hand was in a spot it could get crushed.
You know how the table saw stops cutting when it detects human flesh? Well, the Tesla hood needs a similar system to stop closing in the presence of human flesh.
Probably for it to have dome sort of sensor like other automatic closing things. If I normal suv can have a sensor on the back door, why can't tesla be assed to do it here?
I think they made it trigger on a resistance if your fingers were at the very end of the trunk, where the lever is longer and your fingers give more resistant "force". But close to the hinge the resisting force isnt multiplied like that... And you get amputated
Those hands are designed for measuring bullet penetration, not to mimicking the physics of a hand. Human tissue is comprised of much less “cuttable” material than ballistics gel.
“To give it the best chance possible I’m gunna do all 4 at once” That’s not at all how that works, it would be distributing the force across all the fingers equally, so each would only feel about 25 percent of the force, versus if you just did one you’d feel 100 percent
