Hearing his voice again makes me feel the VA gave another chance to be Varus. And HIS FIRST LOGIN THEME TOO!
I wish they gave him an accent like aatrox or something, his voice is cool, but it's a little generic in my opinion

I got Legendary rank in Hearthstone multiple times and play Magic competitively, and this was just such a refreshing and fun experience for me for the past two years. You're so responsive to the community and it's clear how much you care.
My mom and I have played LoR so much and it has given us a lot of bonding experiences getting to play Co-Op in the lab again! Thank you thank you so much!! ^^

and he is the most interesting darkin yet! i am honestly impressed, good on the LoR team.
This is pretty solid. I like the "Drawing the bow back for a massive arrow" effect, that is definitely his most iconic ability in league so it's good to see it done fairly well in a new context. Hopefully he won't just be a "I slam into enemy every attack. Hehe," cause that wouldn't be very Varus, I'm hoping the bow will make him play fairly calculated and slow. Targeting allies for a lvl up is... meh? We have a couple of those already, and I get that it's supposed to synergize with equipping now but it's still somewhat boring. Awesome art, voicelines and level up. I think sharing an Origin with Kayn, and the fact that Kayn wants you to summon Cultist units and Varus wants you play Cultist spells means Aatrox will have the same Origin and want you to play Darkins (maybe specifically as Equipment, maybe not). I'm glad they're all pulling from the same pool, that's pretty cool. It's a shame that you won't be able to do Varus-Kayn with a second region because of separate Origin tutor abilities but alas.

We have no target allies for level up tho.
@@mari_zz Taric, Pantheon and Akshan all have variations of this. Not word for word but they're gonna synergise with the same cards generally.

I love that the darkin bow ability is just his charge shot. Like a regular bow, the more you pull it back the stronger it gets

Very flavorful for Varus, and yet such a simple design! (which means it works in combo with other champions!!!)
I was NOT expecting Varus and Kayn to share the idea of their Origin, but it actually is a REALLY cool idea!
I am hoping that the rest of the champions bring either fun unique mechanics, or some awesome combo potential with other champions!
I Looooove varus , it can fit in so many decks! Kind of like the new ezreal
@@mlinxl9090 I'm not sure if you even need to play Varus/Ezreal to play the new cultist spell effectively. It definitely would help, and that spell just seems hilarious in an EZ deck. It's really cool that he synergizes with so many other. champions.

Varus's login screen theme! Love it
Him and Annie have to be my favorite champs yet. Feels so nice seeing them executed this well. That lvl 2 splash is perfect.
So happy the direction they took Varus, and they made some of his og voice lines and his title still make since. Chefs kiss 👌
I'm glad they got the original voice actor back for Varus, and they also made his lines better fit his retconned lore (his current lines in LoL still reference his wife and kids lol). Seems like LOR has gotten a lot more new people to voice older champs lately and I'm glad they DIDN'T do this with Varus.

The main complaint for kayn was the specialized pool of units. It's such a cool concept for all the darkin to share their cultist card pool.
Looks like the Darkin are sorta gonna be a mini-(multi-)region on their own, if all of them use the "cultist" subtype as their origin while being runeterran champions.
Pretty good way to deal with them.
I like the idea of have multiple origins pull from the same archetype, if it means it expands the pool of cards they can pick from thus making them less cookie cutter.

I wish there were some Valmar and Kai voice lines, even if it was just inside Varus' mind. It would be nice to know if they have some degree of consciousness.

@@ManiyaVinas Aside from the comic, MV and some lore pieces, I'm not up to date on his latest lore if he has any. But if I remember correctly, they still do have consciousness, but this would be the first time we would hear this in game. (although not the main game yet)
@@ManiyaVinas But from Varus' voice lines, it doesn't sound like he's struggling to take control or is being influenced by their personalities.
They retain their full consciousness, even tho they all blend a bit together at the edges. I read somewhere that they wanted to give Varus 3 separate voices for this but ended up not moving forward with it (don't know why, probably VA costs or it being confusing in-game).
His flavor texts say quite explicitly that Valmar and Kai attempt to remind Varus of the man he once was. And I imagine he's also made them slightly worse people as well, as his leveled up text says all three dudes have learned to embrace each other and work as one, instead of the two parties trying to extinguish one another.

I just realised i keep up with every expansion and never pay for cards, i love this game, i got left behind by hearthstone after one cycle and couldn't go to wild cause of all the cards needed there.

I really enjoy all this, I gotta say tho the recent level up animations have really not been doing it for me, they dont really make sense and they don't feel like a level up more of just a random cinematic, I like the simpler ones that feel like the card is actually becoming stronger like victors, nautilus, heimers, pyke, the more complicated animations can work its just gotta feel like the champion is actually leveling up
So the Origin is the same as Kayn.
But beside that the Spell-Copy style is solid and feels like something new but good to combine with. I like him.

On paper Varrus seems like 4 mana Jax, but his followers and this double casting equipped archetype seems interesting.

When they reworked Varus' lore I was a bit upset. Not because of the two male lovers fused with a Darkin, but because they kept their previous voicelines of when he was still an anti-hero using a cursed weapon that doesn't reflect the changes.
This is a good chance to give him a more fleshed out personality. Hopefully this will inspire Riot to remake his voicelines in LoL too.
It's funny how he has more units that Evelynn has and also has a passive effect.

Idk, alternative wincons have been some of the most toxic (Fiora/ Landmark wincons). as long as a deck ahs some depth, i dont think that having overwhelm/elusive finishers is that bad, they allow counterplay.
@@alexnoack9941 do they allow? When you have so much spellshield and denies in the game. Also toxicity is not associated with alternative wincons. Soraka/TK is an alternate but its not toxic, while Fated or Nami/elusive decks have a pretty standard pattern and have been dominating the meta for the last couple patches
@@pedrofarinazzo5669 Raka TK is not toxic because it’s garbage right now, srsly no counter play you say? When there is hush, sharpsight, quicksand, frostbite? Against overwhelm you can have a unit with more health, against elusive you can have your own elusive unit and healing always helps. What happened to putting your own pressure? Or controlling the board? Do those counter play just disappear?

I like varus and i know that they say that they don't want to straight up copy the league kit on every character they make in Lor but not seeing varus creating or shooting his signature arrow (like a non combat damage spell and his level up having something to do with that) from league is a little bit strange for me at best
His ult is his signature spell and casting spells to power up the Darkin Bow is just like holding down his Q to power it up.
