You did a great job for your first time. I'd suggest weeding anything right off the sticky board that you put in the cricket. It's a lot easier to weed it that way.
Only now finally watching this, and the result was awesome for a first try. The design fit the book so well too. I'm glad I already have the new video with the second attempt to watch, I'm now invested in the see-through cover + glue issue, and I need to know if you have found a way around it!
I love how invested you are in that issue! Moving to the faux vinyl is nice because you can't seen through it, and also it has this self-adhesive so I don't even use the glue... but down side is that it is not as flexible because once it touches something, it is staying there. So I exchanged one problem for another 😂
This was so cool to watch! You did a great job. Looks like it would be a lot of fun, but I fear I'm not artsy enough to pull it off haha. Looking forward to seeing more!
This is soo helpful...until now I've only seen everything going easily right...and this is normally not what is going to happen when you first try. I think you used to much glue and this is why it came through the book binding cloth
Noooo, I don't have time for another hobby - stop making this look so awesome! XD Seriously though, this is so cool! Thank you for sharing your process. Excited to see more videos of this in the future!
This is so beautiful! Especially since it is your first bind. I have also had difficulties with heat transfer foil. I hope I can reach out with a few questions. May I know what the temperature is of the lowest setting on your iron? And what temperature you kept it at that wouldn't work at the start? Also how long do you let it cool, before peeling off the protective plastic layer? Thanks for posting your videos. I just saw your Bunny rebind and it is exquisite. Looking forward to hearing from you, Shyl.
Sorry it took me a little while to reply, I was trying to find the temperature of my iron, but the settings are just high/med/low and I use it on low for about 15 seconds, and I am sure to add pressure when I use the iron. The cooling is not a timed thing, I just touch it until it is slightly warmer than room temperature - not HOT at all. I hope that helps?? Thank you so much for watching the videos! I am trying to find my next project for binding...
Wow! 🤩Could I commission you for a book rebinding someday? I've seen Crickets in stores like Michael's but never understood what they were used for. I love the design you chose for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Great first custom cover!
Beautifully explained with simple steps. Keep posting in future also
Thank you! I need to do another rebinding!

Awesome thanks! That weeding was a nightmare! But intricate designs would make it worth it
@@JAKandtheBookStack weeding is a pain, my least favorite thing
Nice job, JAK! Very cool to watch.
Thank you! I’m so excited to do more!
Well done you!
Thank you!! I am pleased and can't wait to do another
Looks great! Can't wait to see the next one.
Thanks! I am excited to try some different materials and other techniques
That looks fantastic. This is giving me ideas and new uses for my daughter's cricut. Maybe some custom bookmarks. Thanks for the inspiration.
ooh yes you could do some really cool custom bookmarks! There are so many possibilities
This is one of the things I’d like to try this year! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing more books you work on
Ooh you should! It’s been so fun and I can’t wait to try more
This looks good! Much better than I could do!
Thank you! I believe in you if you ever wanted to try it. I feel like if I can do it, anyone can.
It still looks amazing! Plus you can learn from the mistakes. I need to see more hahaha
Totally agree, I expect mistakes in the beginning! I’m hoping to try more techniques too and experiment with different materials

well done!!!
Thank you! I am pretty pleased with how it turned out - flaws and all!
Dang this seems like such a challenging process. I could never but it seems cool
I will take on this challenge so that you don't have too 😆
Honestly. For a first try that’s not too bad. The design was really cool
Thank you!! I’m so excited to see the progress throughout the year
@@JAKandtheBookStack I'm very excited to see what you'll come up with!
This was so interesting to watch!! Even with your struggles, this was so cool. I think he turned out pretty good in the end!
Thank you! I don't mind the struggles all that much because it should be a learning experience
So cool! Love it!
Thank you! It was super fun

I think you’re right, too much glue and probably didn’t paint it on well enough. I will happy many trophies chronicling my learning process 😆

Heck yes, I’d love to make you a book! I need to practice a bit and learn what materials work best. I want to try sprayed edges too
