Amazing. You managed to have 95% of the mini in a "dirty black" color, and yet instead of mini looking like a mess it has soul and character. This is so difficult. congratulations man, nice work.
A big thumb up for how you made it look so good with the bright colors to make it darker but not lose the Raven Guard color scheme under all the dirt and scratches from combat.
HONESTLY MAN!! This is F*****G stunning!!!! Love this man!! I’ve always found black armour a pain but this just looks amazing!!! Keep up great work from a fellow TH-camr
Awesome job. This is a great idea for my Black Templars. Look forward to more of your videos. This may sound redundant, could you do a Black Templar marine by chance 😉
Fantastic job. I paint Iron Hands and use similar colours like Eshin Grey and Iron Warriors. I also use Abaddon Black and Corvus Black. Also Tamiya Panel Line Accent Colour Black for recesses. I don't use streaking grime because I imagine Iron Hands who being one with the machine would maintain their equipment. I paint white using Mechanicus Standard Grey, Dawnstone, Administratum Grey and white with the same Tamiya Panel Line black in the recesses. A bit long winded but I like the results.
Hey, I love your videos. If I can have one piece of advice, I would change up the background music a bit. Scores themselves are perfect, but you put the same compilation on every video. Other than that great video tone, great music, and great commentary, cheers!
Nice work. Very solid method and helpful format. However, personally I would've gone easier on the rust; it makes little sense lore-wise for certain models, like marines, to have equipment subjected to rust or for them to allow it to accumulate, so it somewhat impacts realism. I might've used dry pigments instead. And perhaps brown Streaking Grime instead of green.
Late to the party, and I think GW has changed their minds (but I have a comment or two I could make on the average Englishman and his grasp on his own language and most that are not his), but back in the 2000's I learned to pronounce 'Ulthuan' (island homeland of the elves in Warhammer Fantasy) as "Uhl-thwan" or "Uhl-thoo-ahn"; the way you say the latter being similar to the former, if that makes any sense. I think the way they say it now (GW and TW:W) is like "Uhl-THOO-in".
Great paint scheme that'll work for my Deathwatch. I think Ulthuan is pronounced with either "ooo" or "uh" like ooolth-wan or uhlth-wan. Its a made up high elf word from Warhammer Fantasy so its however you wanna say it though
Pretty good man. Any chance you'll do any krieg? Been looking awhile for a decent krieg video. Also i deff think keeping Grimdark in the titles is good. Its eye catching as hell.
Looks nice. Like the overall style of this tutorial. Where is the helmet from? Is that an official GW bit? Looks menacing. Just a bit of unasked feedback: Personally I would like the background music on a lower volume and your mic isn’t the best to pick up your voice naturally. Other than that good job and keep em coming!
You mentioned the varnish to protect the paint from the mineral spirits... The spirits dont react with the paint at all, if you run into any issues its due to either the base coat not being fully cured and some of the spirits getting between the paint layers, or being too aggressive with the Q-tip, which are abrasive... so that varnish step isnt going to do anything for you, unless you want to preserve the original paint colour when it comes to removing a lot of the streaking grime, rather than filtering it.
Only reason i make this comment is because ive run into soooooo many newbie painters that have been told, or more often, interpreted the information about using mineral spirits wrong, because they dont understand the interaction between the different paints and solvents.

This video convinced me to get into Raven Guard and I am having a blast painting them.

I'd absolutely love to see this sort of scheme adapted for the new Killteam Scouts. Really awesome work!
I've never seen Raven Guard look so confronting! Definitely capturing horror vibes. Can't wait to see where your channel goes, mate.
Cheers
THe ambiance of these vids are so great.

Finally, I know what to paint my Leviathan box space marines as
This is how I want to paint my raven guard. Thank you for the helpful tutorial and motivation 🤘
Man, my black templars gonna love that paint job!
Badass! Appreciate the helpful format/edit for the paints used too. Subscribed!
A big thumb up for how you made it look so good with the bright colors to make it darker but not lose the Raven Guard color scheme under all the dirt and scratches from combat.
love it. I am excited to follow this for my 30k Raven Guard army
I have learnt something substantial just from watching this video:
I am a massive fan of a matte varnish layer
Love the gritty ravenguard vibes
Looking hella good. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you!
This is amazing! Would love to see a Grimdark Iron Hands if you're interested! You have a lot of talent man.

wowowow great job and video ! i'm curious to see your take on Xeno mini like Ulthwe eldar.
From where is that helmet? Looks way better than the usual beaky ones.
3D print "Crowbois" by artist Marta_Punk_Girl.

where did you get the helmet from, that is fantastic
I get them from Archie’s Forge
The red tube / can thing holds grenades. There is a model (I think Intercessor or Assault Intercessor) with a grenade in hand and an opened canister
Looks sick!
So sick!

I archived similar efect on white colour by: thin layers of white, then black wash then delicate nearly drybrush layers of white
thanks for the tut, trying this out today!
Youre welcome! Let me know how it turns out!
What brushes are you using? Those look awesome.
Is the helmet a standard helmet or a third party one? Looks slightly pointier than normal.

You did a great job. Where is the helmet from?
The helmet is a 3D print!
Where do you get the helmet from? Is that 3D printed?
What helmet did you use for this model? Looks awesome!
Where did the helmet come from?
What helmet is it
Space marines from the Horus heresy
It is a 3D print by artist Marta_Punk_Girl. Listed as Crowbois and elsewhere as Crow Guard, Crow Boys, etc.
Awesome! Any plans on painting some dark angels?
where can I get those helmets?
They're 3D prints by artist Marta_Punk_Girl. You can find them by searching Crowbois. Also other people are printing them as Crow Guard, etc.
Prime them black, done. Enjoy your Raven Guard models
Is this a custom pose for the intercessor? Don’t think I’ve seen this one before but it’s very dynamic
This is actually a Assault Intercessor body, with one arm being form an Intercessor sprue and the knife arm from the Infernus Marine sprue!
@@QuintonWatsonDesign sweet! definitely going to steal this pose for my BA 😅
Nice work 👍👍 How many years have you been painting miniatures?
Hey great job on the tutorial quick question.. where did that head come from I cant find one like it anywhere?
Thank you! The helmet is a 3D print
Do you have a link to where we could get it? I like that helmet a lot!
@@capki8530 If you search "crowbois stl" youll find it, the head is part of a pack of other stuff as well

Is it a 3rd party bit or from the upgrade sprue?
The helmet is a 3D print, but I want to say i've seen sellers on Etsy sell similar style helmets!
Raven Guard: For when you bring two guns to a gun fight, but decide to use your knife instead.

Wow someone who actually knows how to paint grimdark minis. Not just washed and trench warfare motifs.
Pretty good man. Any chance you'll do any krieg? Been looking awhile for a decent krieg video. Also i deff think keeping Grimdark in the titles is good. Its eye catching as hell.
I can fit that in at somepoint! It wont be my next video but after that is done I can take a look into it!
Wow!
Now that's B L A C K

a link to the print? that's the most beautiful beakie helmet i've seen in a long time@@QuintonWatsonDesign

i dont blame you ulthuan grey and corax are a pain in the ass
Raven guard vs death guard
What about your base why not include them also :)
The plan is to do like a mega video for a bunch of basing tutorials in the future!
"Ulth-Wan"
Will you paint my ravenguard army if I pay you? How much per marine?
Black templars please 🙏
Ulth-one.
