How to make School Cake

  • This is so easy and fun to make, your kids will love it.
    Ingredients
    • 300g unsalted butter
    • 300g caster sugar
    • 5 large eggs
    • 300g self-raising flour
    • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
    • 100ml milk
    • 400g icing sugar
    • 4 tbsp water
    • Colourful sprinkles
    Method
    1. Preheat your oven to 160ºC fan. Line a 9x13” baking tin with parchment paper.
    2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.
    4. Gradually add the milk and flour, stirring gently until just combined.
    5. Pour the batter into the prepared tin, spreading it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
    6. Allow the cake to cool completely in the tin.
    7. In a medium bowl, gradually add water to the icing sugar, mixing well after each addition until a thick paste forms.
    8. Once the cake has cooled, carefully spread the icing evenly over the top.
    9. Decorate with colourful sprinkles.
    10. Let the icing set for about an hour before serving.
    11. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
