My SAAB 9-3 - winter beater, or wallet beater? Pt 1

I had the brilliant idea of buying a 2002 SAAB 9-3 as I live in the US "salt belt" and don't like driving the nicer vehicles in winter as a result.
This one's got a few issues and I'm trying to figure out if I can fix them. Part one of hopefully not too many, but I also don't want to just throw parts at it so it might take a while.

Oh well, that's a happy new year gift to yourself. I noticed the tank is full of fuel. Does that double the value in the US as it does here in the UK?😊

Not quite :D. Even after living out here for more than a decade, I still haven't quite got used to how much more expensive vehicles are compared to the UK. And petrol is still cheaper than in Europe, so even with this rather large tank, it's not *quite* there 😉

That's what I'm hoping for, so far it's more interested in my wallet than in winter. It's probably going to be ready by spring :).
