Most comments seem to be 2-4 years old but it’s worth a shot. My grandfather was Philip Hiatt, He was a pilot in the 195th AHC 2nd airlift (ghost riders) I have lots of pictures from his time in Vietnam. I’d love to share them with you.
He served November of 1968-November of 1969. Where can I reach you to send pictures? Also if any of the pilots do remember him I would love to get in contact with them as my grandfather passed away last July and only shared a small handful of stories with me.
@Dizny Land Good eyes very well could be a German Sheppard with a muzzle on. The 199th LIB had K-9s and we supported them at times. Looks like it is setting at the feet of it's handler in the seats.
My daddy was a doorgunner/crew chief in the 195th AHC. His friend James Howell took his flight for him one morning when he had to go the dentist and Howell was killed that day.
Yes he was a beloved member of the 195th AHC and never forgotten. James Howell and the 10 other Men from the 195th AHC who gave their lives in support of the MACV-SOG's secret Green Beret Commandos are Memorialized on this TH-cam Channel. Especially the Ghost Riders in the Sky and Ft. Rucker Memorial. Did you find any photos of your Daddy?
Hughes Crewchief My father was D. J. Beam. He just died 3 hours ago. He went under for emergency brain surgery two weeks after a head injury from an accident. Before he went into surgery, all he spoke about was Howell.

I have always liked wearing BDUs since I was in the Army (90-92) and one day I ordered some tiger stripe jungle camo BDU pants off of Amazon because I have always liked the pattern. I went down to my farm to meet my daddy (a 195th veteran) to work on something and I wore my tigerstripe fatigues. When he saw me wearing the tigerstripes he got pissed and told me that I’m not supposed to wear them. My daddy hardly ever got mad, but he was mad and visibly upset by my wearing of tigerstripe camo. How do others feel about this?
All I have is a name and a distant memory. Looking for any Green Beret that served with, Dean Cartarella in Vietnam during these years. Any help is much appreciated.
Peter Paul & Mary, Gordon Lightfoot, different choices for this kind of thing. Usually get Creedence Clearwater or something like that. A little anti war but I like it. Lost some good friends. It was a complicated war in a complicated time.

Do you have any photos of Robert Caldwell? IIRC he was with the 195th in 68-69
Yes he is in this slide show. He was a good friend and pilot for FOGs. In the 195th.
