Vauxhall really pulled a hat trick with the Velox. Straight 6, monocoque and smooth lower, wider, longer style only 6 years after the war!

I loved the ending. I was a Billy Fury fan and saw him twice in concert. In recent years, Halfway to Paradise was one of my favourite songs to do on karaoke. So naturally I could not resist singing along at the end of this video.

Our family Wyvern had a sack of sand permanently in the boot, it was so tail light! Tricky to stay still on the slippy front bench seat too...

There used to be a car parts warehouse in Coulsdon near Croydon in Greater London called RJ Grimes. I say warehouse, but it was more of a collection of sheds, shacks, lean-to's, containers, backs off of old lorries etc, all jam packed full of stuff, but in amongst all this mayhem and untidyness there was just about every part for every Rootes Group/Chrysler car and van ever made. I'm talking, Hillman, Humber, Singer, Talbot, etc, etc. How they ever kept track of all that was there or knew were it was, from a screw or washer to a gear box or crankshaft I'll never know. From this scruffy ramshackle place they'd send out parts big and small not only to UK addresses, but right across the globe. Long gone now, maybe 12 to 15 years gone at least.

anonov1 Vauxhall didnt use vacuum wipers, Ford did. The older Vauxhalls used a cable drive taken off the camshaft.

There is footage of a Wyvern being tested in the mid 50's, installed with a Turner Supercharged twin cylinder 2 stroke diesel engine, it's quite amazing!

The only place where you will still find parts will be from the Vauxhall Owners Club in the uk and Australia. There are specialist Vauxhall parts dealers but be prepared for the high costs.
    Good luck

Sadly that's the intelligence of your average modern car owner! owning a classic requires a bit of knowledge, which most lack.

To Henry Fenton. All someone has to do, to start cars on damp days - is spray a can of WD40 on the electrics a couple of times a week, in winter. But keep the can INDOORS in the relative warm so it sprays properly.
