What a great first day! Your video brings back such wonderful memories. We walked the West Highland Way in April 2023. It was our first multi-day walk. We ate at the Clachan Inn. I found it amazing that the pubs in Scotland often look humble from the outside, but have really elegant and delicious food! I did not knowingly try haggis, but it comes with everything, so I might have!

I agree. This is a big difference between UK walking and Spain walking. The UK foot is much more sophisticated along the way - but you also pay a lot more for it.

Regarding the Shetland Pony, that's an understatement!

We saw several Shetland ponies along this route. There was one especially friendly one on Day 4.

Thanks for sharing. Had good memories about my own WHW adventure while watching it . Greetings from Poland.

The Clachan Inn looks like a lovely place to stay. Glad Molly’s elbow improved. I was a bit worried by how she was holding it at the start of the day and relieved to see her eventually hold her walking pole in that hand and a little later to pop foxgloves using both hands.

I was worried about it, too. You just never know where you could get hurt. Fortunately, this didn’t take her down.

Yeah. I love figuring out the pronunciation of different words in different places.

      @@staceyandmollypilgrims I believe you.
      It's quite a job sometimes.
For instance, the original Enghien, Belgian Edingen, is pronounced as you expect from the spelling. But Enghien-les-Bains, where I was, in France, has a pronunciation that I'd spell Enghen instead. I seem to have misheard it into a spelling Enga / Anga.

Yeah. That could have turned in to a bad situation, but it worked out all right.

5:10 sth "arrive in the Highlands" ... if Milngavie is a suburb of Glasgow, you already are in the Highlands at this point!

W a i t, I was wrong. I thought both Glasgow and Aberdeen were in the Highlands, seem both are in the Lowlands.

It was hard to figure out where the Highlands started, but there was a big geographical change on day 2. I’m guessing that was it.

We did it in June 2023, but we did several walks last year and I am just catching up.

    Milngavie is p)ronounced Molguy?

    • @hglundahl
      @hglundahl หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, Mulguy, but still!
It's one of those British pronunciations like forehead pronounced forrid or Cholmondeley pronounced Chumley!
