Molly's Year of Running 2023-2024
มุมมอง 5314 หลายเดือนก่อน
Watch Molly practice all over Europe in the summer and then benefit during the 2023-2024 track and cross country seasons.
Oh Stacey I am sorry about your father. He looked like kind and gentle man who clearly loved his family. I am sorry too about the norte and even more so about your foot. That was a heck of a recovery period and I hope you have made a full recovery. You and your family will be in my thoughts.
Glad you are both okay. Take care of yourselves. Look forward to your future videos
So glad to hear from you! I had just checked yesterday to see if I’d missed a video. You have been occupied! I’m sorry to hear about your fractured metatarsal, and Molly’s grandfather. I’m happy that you are on the mend Stacey, and look forward to the Oregon videos. As I watched the Olympic trials on TV I thought about Molly, and how exciting it would be for her to attend!
So glad to hear from you! I admit I was a little concerned. Y'all had a crazy summer, but I'm glad you can look at the bright side and see that there were some positives about being home. I am so sorry for your loss. I know those last months are precious times. I'm looking forward to your future adventures!
So happy you have been able to embrace the blessings in your unexpected turn of events. One might say these are the ways of the Camino, learning lessons, and adapting. Buen Camino on your next effort 😊
Glad you are going to make different videos! Hope the foot is pain free now!
It is mostly pain free. The particular spot of the break is pain free, but I think I list a lot of muscle down there, so I am working to build that back.
My heartfelt condolences :(
Thank you so much.
from Irun to San Sebastian was my first camino experience and it was mindblowing :O <3
For the gramp who passed to his Creator in September: QDEP. For the metatarsal, breaking a metatarsal is _so fun_ isn't it? *Not.* I broke one in 2022.
I have had to be careful as I am getting back into shape to really take care of the foot. So far, so good.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Best wishes!
Was Guetaria day five or six? I lost the count. Bayonne -- Guetaria = 80 km, divided by 5 = 16 km / day, kind of feasible _except_ if you have a foot problem. Which you did, obviously.
It was day 5. The first three days were short and the next two were longer.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Oh, that would obviously tend to aggravate a foot problem, if there was one.
That’s the same hotel I staid at! It had a window view to the cathedral!
We would definitely stay there again. Great location and ver comfortable.
This was my favorite stage. My body had adjusted and it was the first stage that my feed didn’t hurt!
That was a long one!
I’m on Day 24, enjoying walking with you both. Appreciate your historical commentaries as we go along. Molly, I’ve been wanting to ask you, Did you do well in Cross Country after all this as a type of work out?
She did have a good season. I think it really helped her confidence as well as her strength.
I just finished my Camino a month ago and your videos were very helpful in terms of what to expect! Thanks you
I’m so glad that our videos were helpful. Where did you start your Camino?
Thanks for sharing all this info. We stayed at some of the same places you did, but I am interested in exploring others. When you go back, I highly recommend the Allt-na-Levin Guesthouse in Kinlochleven. It is lovely, right in town, near several good places to eat and right across the street from the little co-op grocery. They serve a full Scottish breakfast and will prepare a sack lunch for you to take the next day since there is no place to buy lunch between Kinlochleven and Fort William.
Thanks. I will make a note and book that one next time. Do you know of any reasonable alternative to the King’s House?
@@staceyandmollypilgrims I wish I did. Some of the people walking when we did took a bus from Kingshouse to the village of Glencoe where there are more options, then bussed back the next morning. It makes for a little later start, but not too late.
I’ve been watching each evening and enjoying. A year latter, 9/24. I’m curious, Molly did you get your cat? 😉
She got two cats!
Ahh Hurrah!!
Attitude is everything! Scotland is beautiful even in the rain. 🏴
Happy belated birthday!🎉
The church in Kirkby Stephen contains the famous Loki stone depicting the Norse God Loki in chains. His headgear is the origin of the Marvel Comics depiction of Loki
Very cool!
Can’t wait to see this! When will you begin?
We started it in late May, but I broke my foot on Day 5, so it's going to be delayed until next year. It was a bummer.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims oh no! I am so sorry!
Our dear dear friends are walking the Camino and I am enjoying seeing each day thru your vids as I pray over them. Thank you. We lived in Italy for 7 yrs and your scenes of the towns look so familiar to the Tuscany area of Italy!😊
How wonderful. I hope that they have a wonderful experience.
Im from kells and this coastline was our play area when we were kids.its my favorite place in the world.im 60 now and still go running up there which ive been doing from 1986.loved watching your video diary.thanks.
You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful area. We loved it there!
Amazing series you guys. Happened to come across Part 2 this morning and was hooked. Just finished watching the full C2C series. Definitely one for my bucket list - so thank you for the inspiration. Looking forward to watching more. 👍🏻
Thank you for the kind words. We’re glad you enjoyed that trek.
beautiful - when did you walk? !!!!!!!
This was 2021.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Sorry i should have been more specific - I meant which month? I'm headed to Spain in a few days to do the Inglese (last minute fill in) but have done Le Puy, Norte, Francis and Portugal ... thinking the Primitivo or Invierno next. However my wife and I keep walking earlier and earlier (mid to late April now) due to the fact we are seniors and cannot walk in the heat. Your weather ;looked amazing so I was curious.... Also since you seem to be intrepid walkers like us we just completed 3 walks in France (back to back) that you might want to explore - The Stevenson, Tarn River Gorge (UNESCO Site) and St Guilhem Way
I watched all your videos in this series in 2022-23 preparing for my 23 Camino Frances. I loved seeing a mom and daughter doing it even if I'm a dad! I noticed in this particular video I stopped at the same cafe/bar after leaving Puente La Reina! It was my first ever cafe con leche! Also due to being inspired by yall, in summer 2026 my now 21 yr old daughter and I will be walking the Camino Frances together. I'm excited since I went solo last time and because this will be a wonderful trip with my daughter after she graduates from Georgetown University in DC pre-med (We live in Ga) and she'll start med school in the Fall after we walk!
Thanks for the kind words. I hope that your Camino with your daughter will be all that you hope for. I can’t wait to get back out there with Molly.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims where are y’all going to next?
HI, how much does it costs to you to get a standard ticket?
It may be 65 pounds for the round trip.
Really enjoying these videos, and great to see you had so much fun.
Glad you like them, and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much guys. I walked the same route as you in May/June/July this year in memory of my wife who died of ovarian cancer in February. Seeing the videos brought back so many memories and certainly a few tears. You stayed in so many places that my friend and I did. So if you are doing any more, Buen Camino from the bottom of my heart!!!
Thanks. Yes, we are trying g to do some sort of Camino each year. We are addicted to it! I’m glad that our journey brought back memories of yours.
Nice to see you, I wondered what happened last week.
We are spending a lot of time right now caring for my parents. I didn’t have time to make a video. They will probably come every two weeks for a little while.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Oh, best wishes, I can imagine they need you! Tell them they can be proud of their daughter, son in law and grand-daughter.
I will be praying for your family.
Thanks. We appreciate it.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims three Hail Mary from me too
Living only 4 miles from St Bees I walked the coast to coast in 2016, as it’s raining hard here in Whitehaven I’m enjoying your day 1 in the sunshine here on TH-cam.
That’s awesome! Whitehaven looked like a lovely town from a distance.
you have a very good travel video content on your channel, your video is so engaging. But ,as we see you don't have much more views/ engagement. You need to optimize your channel/ fix your problems.
We are open-minded to any free suggestions. Thanks.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims sure, you have to do proper SEO on your channel. SEO is a process that helps to grow a channel, view, subscribers, and impressions. Thats why I suggest you to do Proper SEO on your channel or your videos.
Huge congratulations. Thank so much for putting all this together, my wife and I have really enjoyed following your journey. So glad you enjoyed the C2C, I walked it in 2010 and 2011 and miss it so much, especially meeting all the folk from all over the world. It was this walk that inspired me to move to the Lake District, and also to devise my own trail (Lakeland Way). I wanted embrace the old packhorse routes travelling from valley to valley. It's now gaining momentum with a wider audience, which is fantastic. I know spent most of my time exploring all the hidden gems of the Lake District, with inspiration from Alfred Wainwright and his guide books. Would like to explore trails in other countries but due to family and work commitments it's difficult. Maybe someday! :)
Wow! You are living the dream! I would love to get a house in Spain along the Camino de Santiago. Maybe someday….
Thanks for sharing. Very useful information to help plan my Camino accommodation in 2025.
Thanks. You will love it!
👍The hotels all looked very nice. The meals looked yummy and hearty. I just love the english names of hotels and pubs.😅🇺🇸
Yes. Those are some of our favorite things about the pubs. I took pictures all along our walk of the cool names and signs.
Going on my adventure in October this year 🙌 really looking forward to it 😁
Can you let me know how the weather and temperatures were? I want to go back and fill in a couple of stages, and I don’t know the best time to do it.
15:10 English channel vs Kattegatt -- which is longer?
It looks like the Kattegat is 37 km and The English Channel is 33.7 km, so the Kattegat ls longer.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Oh, I suppose you are right for sailors going in one end and out the other end. I meant longer to swim or sail across. My bad. The thing is, that way, Kattegatt seems to be nearly twice as "long" and I should have said broad. 50 km for the Channel, 90 for the Gatt.
what is "clotted" cream? does it differ from whipped cream?
It is more like butter, but softer.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Thank you!
Oh thank you so much Stacey and Molly! This video will be very helpful in planning our Journey along The Pilgrim’s Way.
O hope that you have a great trek. Have you done other UK treks?
@@staceyandmollypilgrimsNone yet. I’m in the US but have a cousin who has lived in England and Wales for 50 years. Presently she lives in New Mills, Derbyshire in the Peak District. I’ve been to France and Germany twice, but haven’t made it to the UK yet!
Very nice choices.
Glad you like them!
Thanks so much for documenting a wonderful adventure. We're off to the C2C in 3 weeks (9/24) and watched all of your vids to see the terrain and buildings and, of course, your travels. Gave us a good primer. Feel more prepared now.
We're so glad. I hope you love the walk. This seems like a great time of year to do it. I would love to hear how it went when you get back. We are trying to figure out when we should go back to walk the stages that we missed.

Glad you enjoyed your brief visit to our village (Shap) and one of the local pubs(the Greyhounds) looking forward to viewing the next one as you begin the walk through the Westmorland Dales
We plan to revisit Shap at some point so that we can fill in the stage leaving Shap that we missed. We should have more energy to explore it next time. It looked like a lovely town.
I enjoy watching and reminiscing about my Camino experience in 2009. It was much different; not nearly as many albergues or bars; not nearly as much rain even though I walked in March/April. It was a very moving experience for me, I had a lot of personal, physical, and emotional pain to work through. I so enjoy watching you and your daughter plod along in your voyage. I can tell that you're getting tired. Ultrea
We were getting tired, but we were also getting more emotional. The Camino was probably the best experience of my life. I can’t wait to do it again.

Did you see the immense Brown trout in the River? They are the size of salmon. Downstream there are pools of smolts that look like watergrass. They are in the milions
We didn’t see them there, but they were huge coming out of Comillas in the Norte.
