    "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! Gorgeous! When I was a teenager (I'm 79 now), my "life" was my 29gal aquarium, full of beautiful tropical fish & plants. I loved the plants as much as the fish! Crypto Cordata (reddish color) & straight & corkscrew Vals. The Vals grew like mad & they "waved" back & forth!!! The Vals multiplied by runners; made hundreds of "babies"! My Sumatra Barbs looked great against the grasses. What a GREAT JOY in my past life!!!

      @@AquariumGardensAquascaping awesome work. Thanks for the video. I've reduced the light, increased water changes and reduced spare food so hopefully algae will reduce. I honestly think my tank gets too much natural light though as it faces a window.

      @@AquariumGardensAquascaping What can I do? Floating plants are illegal here :( All we can get is duck weed and duck weed is worse than algae WAY WORSE!

    My 2nd comment! The back of my 29gal aquarium was painted with a crystalline deep bluish green paint, which added great "depth" to the aquarium. The waving Vals against this deep background looked "mysterious"! Your aquascape would look so much better this way! Thanks for bringing forth wonderful old memories! "Gesundheit"!!!

    • @gmfdp4852
      @gmfdp4852 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@boniboni4912 There are a lot of things you can just make or get yourself, for example you can make driftwood by boiling some wood down, you can get rocks by just going out in nature... the soil can also be made from normal soil, at least I guess..

    • @fiorarosa1090
      @fiorarosa1090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh no it's not that expensive. You just need to know how to spend your money.
      In my country Vietnam a 5 - 8 gallon tank cost about 20 - 25$(Really good quality brand new) and a filter set cost about 10 - 15$(Also very good quality) and you can get sand and stone gravel 4kg for just 5$. But since people like to ripping off each other you need to know where to look for aquascaping goods :D.
      The livings are also at good price. With about 5$ you can get a dozen of guppies or Zebra Danios Red Eye Tetra and Black Skirt Tetra or Betta and even some odd corydoras. Some loaches too. The plants are at about 1 - 3$(Depend).
      The only that is expensive in my mind is that the shipping fee :D These motorbike guy are really ripping off though.

    • @boniboni4912
      @boniboni4912 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GraphicMemesForDramaticPeople guys I found a LFS that have very good prices on wood, rocks and soil (the only one in my city that sells those things) my problem is that I live in a very far and small city and shipping is expensive, plus I live in a desert where you can’t find the most common safe trees, but I’m planning to go and find myself some good cholla wood and some nice rocks :D

    • @boniboni4912
      @boniboni4912 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fiora Rosa well my biggest aquarium at the moment I got it second hand really cheap (28g), and I already got some soil, sand, rocks and wood for good prices, the biggest expense are the plants, heaters and the air pumps, I have almost everything running with diy filters, for lights I use a window, and as you guys say little by little I’m going to get more and more equipment!

    You would think nothing could be more natural than a stream theme. Yet,its aquariums with mountain ranges that are called "natural aquariums"..not that rough rocks are never found near streams...but smooth rocks are like 99.% of all streams. Slow moving or fast.
    I do know for sure if you have active fish..rough rocks are a mistake. Or skittish fish...they will bash into them if frightened. Go smooth.

    A nice challenge id love to see a youtuber do, is i have these little thai micro crabs, smaller than a u.s dime each, and i have about 25 in a 5.5 gallon thriving. Id love to see you make a tank that models the river theyre native to, the chao praya river in thailand. They live in the mountainy streams of the river and thats the only place they come from, no ones been able to breed em in captivity. Id love to see how they do in a aquarium designed like their natural habitat, i tried as good as i can and love my tank, but they havent bred yet 🤔

    Hi Dave- Wondering if you could use this aquascape as a low tech system. Would you have to substitute any of the plant species? If so, with which other species would you go? It’s absolutely beautiful! I’m a newb and am doing several months of research before actually setting up my system. Watching this video made me think “Why can’t I set up a high tech tank?” I understand all the scientific principles (I’m a botanist) as I’ve watched many videos and read many articles. Would you recommend a first time aquarist go with a low tech tank? I just want to do it right, right out of the gate. I’m a little bit of a perfectionist, you see. I would appreciate any suggestions you might make. Thanks. Subscribed...

      The aquarium is our Optiwhite 45 by AG. The filter is external and sits under the cabinet connected to glass lily pipes. CO2 is connected to a timer, comes on a few hours before lights and turns off when lights go off. Measure using a drop checker. All products on our website www.aquariumgardens.co.uk 👍
