He is basically telling her that she is too high maintenance, and he is too easy going. Then if you add in the pressure of everything else, outside pressures from friends and family; he'd rather be alone. Not answerable to no one but himself, free to think his own thoughts, and make his own movers. And when he goes home and closes his door, what anybody thinks stays right outside that door. 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯percent FREE.

The music from the 60's, 70's, and some from the 80's really were made to touch a woman's heart. Men back then wrote songs that showed women respect and love at the same time.

Nice reaction. You're right Nick. Some interpreted as a sweet love song. But in reality, he is letting her go...breaking up. Instead of feeling down, leaving her puts his mind at ease, calm. Hence "easy like Sunday morning ". Love you guys❤❤

The first time I saw, The Commodore’s was at Knotts Berry Farm in Southern California in the late 70’s.
At that time, there were many artists that would perform after the amusement part of the park had closed.
It was a magical time growing up.

It is a breakup song. It's about a man leaving his woman because he's done everything he could possibly do to make her happy and she ain't happy.
I know it sounds funny but I just can't stand the pain. Girl I'm leaving you tomorrow. Seems to me girl you know I've done all I can. You see I beg stole and I borrowed.
Why in the world would anybody put chains on me? I've paid my dues to make it. Everybody wants me to be what they want me to be. I'm not happy when I try to fake it.
That's the first two verses. You can see the dealing with a very unhappy man who has tried to be what his woman wanted him to be. He's tried to do everything he possibly could to make her happy. He has sacrificed his own happiness to try to be what she wants. And he's done

It's not about a woman exactly, it's about his life and his the people in his life wants him to stay in this mode that doesn't for him. How he doesn't get the right to move on or advance even though he has done the work. He speaks to paying his dues but it doesn't matter to those around him. He has shook off the chains of society and now he's easy like Sunday morning!
