Lyrics:
Planets devastated, mankind's on its knees
A saviour comes from out the skies in answer to their pleas
Through boiling clouds of thunder, blasting bolts of steel
Evil's going under deadly wheels
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller

Glenn deserves a medal for playing such complicated guitar solos while suffering from Parkinson's disease.
Concuerdo con el desconocido
They all deserve medals for being able to play this well despite their age, especially Glenn and Scott
Glenn is a Guitar God \m/
Glenn is the man! I agree. They all are the best
They deserves everything for bring us those incredible hymns! They're all heart, rocking against the age, pain an illness.
the man is almost 70 years old and his voice is still a force to be reckoned with.
Quarantine needs to be over. I was supposed to see their 50th last week
Me too. Second time I missed them. They played in Minnesota in the spring of 2018 in the middle of a blizzard, and my buddy and I got into a minor accident on the way to the venue. What a shame.
Zach G that’s sucks. You will see them again. Rob is sounding 1000x better than a decade ago
Great appreciative comment, bro. Rob works very hard in aging times to ensure that his music quality remains within the bounds. We eventually (if you are lucky) will, or be at an disability to do what he has done! But, do this at HIS level? Hmmmmmm?
Brutal..
If only Kiss was this amazing in their final years, this performance is mindblowing considering their age
By "performance" you mean Rob just bending over to be able hit the notes, not looking at the audience and walking off when he is not singing?
Because if that, sure. Great perfomance. Haha.
@@Skaatje the crazy part is that he can still hit those notes
@@Skaatje Who cares if he walks off lol he doesn't owe you anything because when the singing is over his job is done!
@@austang8556 During the song you wet wipe!
@@Skaatje you can find on youtube his painkiller performances from 2003 and even 1991. Seems like he was always bending to hit those notes.

That was a Jason Newsted late 80s growl. Went into death metal territory. Yes Halford still has his chops up I believe!
Haha I saw that too😂
I know! He was like "Oh…!" ñ_ñ
Yeah he was. That growl came straight from the depths of Hell!
Growl = BELCH
6:00 Ian's reaction to Rob's death growl :DD hilarious
I did a literal LOL at that!

Whoever worked as a sound technician - deserves the highest possible pay, respect and a gold medal. They sound perfect. Every instrument perfectly layered. Every drum part, whether snare, ride, bass, no matter, the volume is equal and one doesn't cancel or overpowers the other. Truly magnificent sound. I can only imagine how it felt to be there live.
For real! Everything sounds so damn good. The sound tech is very talented and good at his job.
They're heavy metal lightning and thunder when you see them live. I'm glad I was able to see them while I still could. 🤘
Their live sound production is amazing. Agreed. They seem to get a good crew
Their live sound is much more punchy like the studio sound. More Bass and drums definitely. Taste them live, incredible.
saw them on two tours and the live sound is somehow even better. i always come back to the live show videos because no studio mix matches this imo
Rob Halford is 71 years old and can still belt out like he’s in his 20’s to 30’s …. Mad respect to that talent 🫡

There are some bands that require backing tracks. Then there's Priest. Rob still gets it up there despite getting on in his years. Respect for that.

wow
every metal concert should have drums sound like this.
Yesssss!
Doesn't the double snare for Slayer's Angel of Death qualify?
But there is only one Judas Priest
One of the best drum intros ever!
Drum triggers.
Glenn playing that solo with Parkinson's disease puts every popstar who ever cancelled because of a sore throat to shame.
Yep
Hell yeah\m/ brother metal head forever.
Coz Parkinson's absolutely helpless in front of this solo
The true difference between a skilled and an amateur guitarist is their ability to adapt songs to their capabilities. Amateurs often try to force their way through a hard riff and make it sound like garbage, while those with experience might simplify or even add onto the melody if they feel they can.
If Rob were here he absolutely would say that pushing yourself as a singer when you're sick is a horrible idea. That may very well be a big part of the reason why his voice was shot during most of the Painkiller tour.
Scott Travis is undoubtedly the most underrated drummer in metal.
Dude is a force of nature
Pure power
I love Metallica, but Scott Travis is better than Lars
@@user-rl3sk4td6iEveryone is better than Lars😂
Comments like underated bassplayers and drummers are so overrated
The fact that Rob still even attempts this song is amazing. He obviously can't do the studio version full justice at his age, but holy hell does he still do a great job. I know he does it just to please the fans, and I love him for it. That "PAIN PAIN, KILLER KILLER" scream was perfect!

We can clearly see that the grand master had started to slow down, unable to hit those notes perfectly. But just being on stage and constantly delivering the goods at his age while suffering from Parkinson's disease, that takes a lot of guts! God Bless Grand master Tipton!
@NORMAN F. oops lol
They all did it at the same time like one big organism. It's just incredible synchronicity.
I don't know, I've seen them couple of years ago, and Rob was flawless, he put on such amazing show as rest of the band, he was "flying" on stage. Also, do keep in mind I am "too drunk too fuck" as I am writing this (also not English native)
His soloing was 99,99% accurate .Most great players on stage are like that....
I saw them a just few weeks ago, then he had no problems witht the high notes or anything.! All of them was just great, the whole consert was pure Magic..!
His vocals are a lot better than some younger singers, he is really impressing everybody..!
The fact that he can even come close to this song at ALMOST 70 YEARS OLD is insanity.
This is from epitaph...this was from 7 years ago. Still fucking amazing tho
@Joennemans yeah, from Everest to k9...
Amazing!!
huh? he sounds terrible in this song. he can't sing those high notes anymore.
@Joennemans True. But at 70 years old quite remarkable he can hit the high notes.
Bruh he's 70+ years old and still commanding an auditorium with such powerful voice!!
He was 61 here.
Do people realize how great this band was? They did this album like 15 years after their first record and still blew the doors off. They got better and better, as players and as a band, Glen and KK were playing some of their best shit ever, Scott on drums took them to new heights and the maestro himself Rob carried it all the way. This is the finest metal band in history with all due respect to Maiden.
This is the best album. I think it is a masterpiece. The hammer and the anvil, is my favourite song though.
I have a friend,a Christian lady and she was obsessed with the lyrics to that song, because they were so heavily layered with Scripture vocab😆

At 69 years old singing like this! Without it, many from the same era barely have the lungs for it and have ruined their vocal chords, but he's there to prove that age doesn't matter! He is one of the metal gods without a doubt!
Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson are still absolutely killing it!
Yes, you are right! I like Ian Gillan and Ronnie J. Dio but they ruined their voices.
@@FriesinNF I mean, death would ruin anyone's voice.

@@johnathanmcintyre9492 the one and only!!!
Damn! Rob is really struggling, and his voice is obviously worn and doesn't sound like him in the 80s, but it KICKS ASS! I love the rawness and raspy/growly tone he's belting out at almost 70 years of age! Awesome!
this songs is extraordinary difficult to sing even for young singers in our days, but let's be honest, no one in our days can sing even 50% of this performance, core genres and extreme vocals are very popular at this moment, however I understood thing - it's more easier to growl and write core music than make masterpiece like this!
id argue hes not really strugglinh with it he knows his limits, but hes wayyy more on pitch and has more power now than like the 90s when he sounded like a cackling clown. Hes got a killer growl now and like actual falsetto that can cut thru. He cares more about his voice now as he ages and im assuming hes got a great vocal coach to keep him healthy.
Totally agree, Rob is a BEAST!!!
i feel like this is one of the only songs he doesnt sound amazing singing. he sounds good but nothing like the studio version. Hell even a year after the song came out he wasnt singing it like the studio version tbh. but this song is just hard. i feel like if they came out and just did this song hed do great but using his voice all night then doing this song just doesnt allow him to do it perfectly whereas when the song was recorded he had all day to rest his voice and go to the studio in tip top shape to record. i wouldnt expect any singer to be able to do this song live.

I think we need the Painkiller after this year.
Straight up
We already got it
I just want some fucking morphine for my migraines, does that count?
Yesssss
Rob looks like he's struggling to find the penny he dropped on stage
Rob doesn't need to bend over in order to double-check his teleprompter. He bends over like that because it's a singing technique that some prefer when they're singing high notes. Helps their high notes sound more clean.
He's done this since the time he got an hernia. Probably he can't do high pitched while standing straight anymore.
As you age, your vocal folds become less pliable, no matter what you do. It’s age. Painkiller is a nearly complete falsetto song. And in a ridiculously high key. It’s very difficult to hit those notes. So, tucking your chin helps put your voice in a proper position to sing like that.
Considering who he is, and how long he’s been doing it, for him to even agree to keep this on a set list is a massive thing for fans to rejoice.
I have nothing but massive respect for Halford. Beyond his being a really cool guy, he’s one of only a few who can still sing live.
Bruce Dickinson, Joey Belladonna, Halford and maybe one or two others? The rest are just done…
