Gulf of Mexico Deep Dropping- Tilefish and Barrel Fish - Smith and Son's Charters- Bluefin July 2023

- This is the last video from the 36 hour trip. The morning of day 2 we did some deep drop drifts for tilefish and barrel fish. The fish were deep, 1200+ feet but we used electric reels and deep drop rigs to reach them. We had multiple hook ups including a 3 tile drop and a tile barrelfish drop. Those with electric reels shared them with people that did not have them so it turned out to be a fun trip for everyone!

I missed getting on the deep drop and wahoo trips for the end of January and mid-February. It was sold out. waited too long. Now, I'm on the waiting list for both.
I want to try them this winter!
@ThumpemupFishingchannel it says sold out on all the dates till March for wahoo and deep drop. I think there is only one open in the middle of the week in February. If you find out otherwise, please let me know. I really wanted to go on atleast one.
Just found your channel. Wish I could do this one day. On these trips do you need your own gear ? This is a dream trip for me
They have gear in the boat for normal bottom fishing and chunking for tuna. Additionally Matt seems to have a few extra combos for popping. I am not sure if he has extra deep drop rods but those are special requests and the people that book those trips all have it. If you get on one they would typically share.
