I remember that moment when John looked up while singing the famous, unchanged line on one of my dvds with his shows. Great moment!
I remember watching the Johnny Cash show on TV with my dad when Johnny Cash sang that song.
I became an instant Cash fan.
Great times.
I'd once again like to take this opportunity to say thank you; it really is an overwhelming and unbelievable experience to hear Kris Kristofferson speaking 'bout his first contact with Johnny, in particular because I met Kris Kristofferson in person as he had an appearance at Fuchskaute, Germany (I was 10 yrs old back then and instantly became a country fan). Even I am just a college student now from Germany, I enjoy listenin' to songs of The Highwayman, Kris Krisstofferson n Johnny Cash daily.
Kris is a smart man and a great songwriter and musician! I love his music!
Great song by an even greater writer, I remember singing & playing this song with a bottle next to me. Could not get enough of The four Horseman, Chris,Johnny,Merle & Willie did it right also! This was my bread and butter in the day. Thanks guys for a lot of great memories, your songs will play in my mind forever.
I was lucky enough to see those 4 guys as the Highwaymen, in concert '91, from the 4th row. Each took a solo turn singing one of their hits, Kris did this song. Best concert ever !
Just about one of the best songs ever written. It gets me every time I hear it.
Thanks for watching M..... Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Thanks for making these videos Joe. They are important for historical reason. I enjoy them.
I appreciate you saying that M.... Best, Joe
Like what I see? I’ve been drooling over KK since ‘72.
Thanks Kelly... Joe
It's wonderful to hear Kris speaking so openly and highly about Johnny. They had a beautiful friendship and when they sing together it's like...how to put it, being in a place where everything is right!
Kris is such a great interview, of course that’s why he loved and admired, awesome humility, awesome man! Joe, every interview, I discover something new about all our music hero’s!💫
Larry... thanks for watching and you’re very kind words...... sincerely, Joe
I agree Larry. I think I have watched most of his interviews and they are honest, insightful and a absolute pleasure to here Kris speak. Just cant understand why he has not received the Kennedy Honors as yet. He is an American treasure.
right on, love it. this channel is great
Hi Joe.... thank you for supporting our channel... Best... Joe

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum from a roadie that has done the blues. Keep up the great work
Thanks Toby!!! Joe
Even though Cash got the song on the charts, in my opinion Kris’ version is the best. He feels n emotes so well, it does pull at yr heart strings
Just recently discovered your channel. As a guy in his early 60's for whom music is very important, I am thankful for having found it. Somehow, researching a new Cart for my turntable got me into the algorithm, and I am glad it did. If we can ever get to Nashville we will be visiting your museum.
Joe...you have a gift for bringing these artists to the table and making them feel free to talk. As time goes by, these interviews will be treasured for the history they share, and the chance to see the greats of "our time" speak about their lives.
There is hope, Joe. My sons are 32 and 35 and when I snoop at their music there is more from my era than theirs, LOL. Now if I could only get them to understand that vintage audio playing good music beats MP3s...it really doesn't take that long to flip an LP over...
Thanks Arch.... see you soon... Joe
Thanks for this!!
God love Kriss a genius in my opinion what lyrics just outstanding
Brother Johnny was too hard on himself.RIP Johnny, you gave it your best shot.👍👍
...another great video, thank you!
Have you ever got to interview Paul Williams? Certainly wrote & composed a lot of music & scores for movies, Phantom of the Paradise 1973 or 74 was an interesting bit of work.
Glad you enjoyed it Cat.... no I’ve not done a interview with Paul Williams.... Great writer.... would love to someday... Joe
Thank you
I would love to hear Kris talk about the Lay Lady Lay Nashville session in 1969 when he was a janitor at Columbia and was asked to hold the bongo's for Kenny Buttrey.. Thanks Joe.
Hi Blue... go to the recording of lay lady lay on our channel.... Joe
Thanks
Love your channel, I'm so glad I subscribed
Thanks Bruce........... Joe
Good stuff Joe!

Lowery studios in atlanta kinda like sun records a magical moment in music history....btw love kris but he just said ray stevens recorded sunday morning coming down so i had to throw that in
My only complaint with the new vids? They're too short!!! Cheers from Louisiana P[>

NICE SPOT. ONE FOLK HERO TALKING ABOUT OTHER FOLK HEROES.
Great backstories. Never knew Ray Stevens sang SMCD.
Thanks for watching Dan... Joe
So, did it happen or not? Please clear this up. Thanks and love you Joe!
Hi Craig... well it seems he did land at Johnny’s house but he wasn’t drinking and Johnny wasn’t there plus the song wasn’t Sunday Morning Coming Down..... Best... Joe
Sunday Morning Coming Down. Ray Steven’s. best version
Chief Pilot of PHI told me the story decades ago.
Was this recorded recently? Kris developed dimensia which his wife discovered was from Lyme disease which was treated. Hopefully he’s doing better now.
This was recorded in 2009.... Thanks for watching.. Joe
Was this the house in Hendersonville he's speaking of? Tight neighborhood with houses nearby...
Yes... in Hendersonville ... sat right on the lake. Thanks for watching..... Joe
Funny how he tells the story of how impossible it was “with a beer in one hand, tape in the other.”
Still , he lands a helicopter in Johnny Cash’s grounds.
That was funny.
Johnny Cash’s version was a bit better but the the truth competing with a lie is something we can all identify with lately.
That was way back before "pockets" were invented.
An unexciting truth may be eclipsed by a thrilling lie. - Aldous Huxley

Was Kristopherson ever really a struggling artist? Probably not. His assignment was to start making country music suburban music and looking at today's country, I would say he succeeded
Hi Blindlight... sure Kris was struggling. He worked hard not to be completely broke but he didn’t have it made at all. He did make very good money at the time flying workers to the off shore oil rigs but it was dangerous work. He took a job at CBS Records in Nashville cleaning offices and the studios. He had the pilot money at that time but getting your foot in the door at the studio was worth being a janitor to hopefully meet producers and artist to pitch your songs.. Thanks for watching... Joe
Kinda off subject - but I think that they pigeon-holed Ray Stevens too hard. I never cared much for his novelty recordings, and instead preferred his rendition of 'Everything Is Beautiful' (although I would have shelved the kid a capella intro). Dude had good range.
Hi Johnny... no you’re very right...Ray is a friend of mine and he is a great musician, songwriter and singer. Also a hell of a business man. He made millions from comedy but as you were saying he was much more than that... best... Joe
