Airport Line Bayswater Terminating Trains & Failed Express Services

- On the evening of the 3rd of December 2023, the Airport Line ran on an 'M' pattern operating between Bayswater and High Wycombe, due to an event at the Showgrounds resulting in more Midland Line trains running and these trains just running as a shuttle. The last few services were scheduled and shown on the app and platform to be express services from High Wycombe to Bayswater, although I don't really get why this was so. Unfortunately, this did not actually happen despite everything indicating that it would, with the drivers just running a normal stopping pattern. This was quite a failed late night filming event, especially considering that I only got back to my local station at 1:10AM; the latest I have ever been out alone on the network, but it was still cool to be at the airport at night and seeing some of the failed operations that Transperth had dealing with the people coming from the event, forcing almost a hundred people onto the last High Wycombe service of the day at the end...
Filmed on: 03/12/2023 with @rileythedude .
Transperth always has that iconic echoey voice
I thought the Yanchep line won't be completed on time after Xmas as well..... When you went to Butler station a few days ago, the railway tracks have already been laid out north from that station and will be a miracle to be completed after Xmas for test trains only.
the filming of this video has given me immense trauma 😭😭
Now it's the same flight, but is it the same plane lol
Kinda an unrelated question to the video. But have you noticed the slight rebranding that has been occurring at some stations? I've noticed at Elizabeth Quay and Perth STN that they don't have coloured station signs to designate the line anymore. Just the name of the station 😮
Yep I know, it's cause eventually there will be lots of lines everywhere and coloured signs won't really make sense anymore. But it's sad that signs that were there for decades disappeared overnight.
@@TransportofPerth yeah I know. But I wish they could at least give each station a bit more iconography, just to kind orientate a sense of place. But this is low priority things anyway
That's not how wayfinding best practice works though.@@TransportofPerth
Something tells me that they accidentally scheduled the express service. As it was pointless anyway. It should have been all stations to Bayswater
I know this is not related to the video but, Do the Joondalup line trains really terminate at Elizabeth Quay? they say on the maps but yet at Elizabeth Quay on the Station sign its orange which means Mandurah line, and how the Joondalup line trains say 'Perth' on it's Desto... So I'm not sure...
It just continues through to the Mandurah Line... It's just shown like that to make it obvious for commuters in the south of the city which direction goes back to the northern suburbs. But the signs at Elizabeth Quay are black because both lines go there...

the speed limit limit through the tunnel stations is 80, so they wouldn't be able to speed through at 130 anyway unfortunately
Ok but that's still rather fast.
@TransportofPerth, that speed is nothing the bullet train can beat it anyway.
@@RMurray2207 We are talking about Perth's suburban network?? How would you feel on the edge of a platform as a 80 km/h train zooms through...
@TransportofPerth yeah but just saying 80 is pretty slow for a train.
@TransportofPerth and there's no train that goes 80 through a station.
15:27 wow people going to Perth have to wait almost an hour
No, they could have gone to Bayswater and transferred to Midland Line plus the apparent express trains that I was trying to film stopped anyway so there wasn't actually that much of a gap in service.
Hello Mark so today I saw an a series with its desto saying bayswater on it today and I got no pictures as I was a Fremantle service to Perth by the tine I saw the train and got my phone out to take I missed it and that's way I don't have photos ok
Yes I heard you say that already...
HEY TOM!!!!!
Hi
will all stations get the electronic display like 10:17 or is it only reserved for more important stations like Perth?
All stations will eventually. With the Airport Line opening they put them at all stations from Claremont to High Wycombe except Showgrounds, including even the smallest of them.
@@TransportofPerth okay thank you
0:04 THEY STOLE REDCLIFFE AGAIN
l live here
14:35 why did the lift open?
I think it usually does so when it reaches the bottom after coming from the top.
