      I usually love spring as it brings an end to Winter, however this has been cooler than usual, so I'm not altogether excited. Bring on Summer, as mangoes have no time for 15C-18C!!

    Looking good George! Daley’s are great but they aren’t perfect (nobody is). I have had a really poor graft from them before (a white sapote). It was bad enough that I re-grafted it onto another rootstock. I’m sure they would have made it right if I had contacted them.
    That jujube graft looks fine though :)

    Do you have a water source for the birds? I hear they go for the water content of the fruit. I found this information helpful as I just started planting fruit trees last year. I do have a large fish pond. I hope to enjoy most of my fruit. Enjoyed your video beautiful trees Good day from Texas.

      I did have a bird bath years ago, which attracted even more birds than before. There is a large fresh water lake a mile from my home. Great to hear about you planting fruit trees!

    Hi, I have one of this jujube grows in pot, I found that they grow so slow, after one year, it still like 50cm height, didn't grow much , Is this normal? or should I plant it to the ground?

    How do you control the suckers from Jujube? I heard it's a problem to maintain the constant suckers

    • @UrbanBounty
      @UrbanBounty 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bought mine from "Jujube Australia"
      They state that it's "grown on its own roots and is extremely low suckering" but you have to get in early with order

      Haven't had suckers on the Chico, others are too young to say.

      My experience has been very positive, far easier to grow than stone fruit. Some report suckers, I've never seen any in 8 years. Mine has been disease free and birds mostly leave the fruit alone. The only negative might be its thorns. Highly recommended.

    I would recommend GA-866 (if you can get it) instead of the Lang. GA-866 is more productive, sweeter, no cross pollination needed and larger crispier fruit.

      Thanks for sharing, unfortunately I've never seen it available in Australia.

      Or honey jar if you can’t get GA866. Heard lots of people like this one too. Fruits are small but sweet from what I’ve heard. Just planted mine last month.

    I'm not sure but do they have some thorns?

  • @justinbelt8032

    Skip Lang. It's poor quality for fresh eating. Saw someone recommend GA-866. It's known to be a shy bearer, if at all. Li is better than Shanxi Li, in my opinion. Honey Jar, Sugar Cane, & Redlands #4 are all sweet, high quality fruit. Ant Admire also has very good fruit and is virtually thornless. You already have my favorite - Chico. Many jujubes are sweet, but only Chico has a slight tartness that balances perfectly with its sweetness. Happy growing!

    I would buy more jujube trees if it wasn't for the damn fruit flies, painful to cover with the net being spikey. Very jealous.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need to be jealous, you can enjoy wax jambu and malay apple instead.
