Same with mine :(

Fair enough bro
When something looks so effortless it’s a sign of a master doing the execution…
Great work sir.
Idk about you, but this looks hard as shit and very effort intensive
He does look like he’s having a lot of fun playing it.
@@changedpace9169the way the performer looks in this video says he is having fun. not hard as shit and very effort extensive.
@@chimeragaming56 no, he looks like he's staring incredibly focused at his guitar because of the complexity of the song. If he was truly making it "look easy" he would have his eyes closed or look into the camera
True. There is a saying in Japanese archery that if you are the Master then the Art is transparent in you. That describes his playing beautifully
Splendid!!!! That bass line was amazing.
thats what I was thinking. And to combine the melody with it smoothly is equally amazing

I feel personally attacked by this comment 😂😂😂😂🤘
That could be the greatest song ever written. Not because it's so easy to play. Or so recognizable, to those who have ever heard it. But because, Henry Mancini actually recorded that song in every single style of music. Everything from swing, to big band, to bossa nova, and rock and roll. Truly, an extremely versatile piece of music.
im waiting for the slushwave version to come out dude
@@JonnyParker-I want the deep house trance version
I know right? This is soooo easy. My 3 year old son has now mastered it.
Easy, you say.
Its so easy i normally play it one handed
This is one of those tunes that surface level doesn't sound TOO difficult, but those walking basslines are so hard to pull off this cleanly. Supremely talented
Sounds pretty damn difficult to me!
Lots of hard work however talented .
.... yes.... very cool bass walking....and chords.... an melodies...
easily to play.... 🤣
good trying
but I ll try it..... may be til next Christmas... or later....I think...

Lucas Brar, you sounded like a complete band. Sir you killed it.
0:37 The bass line that separates from the main line and goes its own way is insane.
At first I thought there was a bass or contrabass recording playing along
It's called counterpoint and the reason classical and jazz is the most challenging (and rewarding) type of music to play.
Rock and blues is easy for anyone playing for over 35 years like I have. There is literally nothing the vast majority of humans alive listen to that I can't play.
Classical and jazz is the only music that challenges the ones who have already mastered the instrument. It will humble anyone. I feel like a beginner trying to tackle some of the more advanced pieces out there like Koyunbaba op. 19. It's a LONG piece but it is so rewarding it's better than any Van Halen solo or Vai or whomever you'd imagine would be fun or hard to play.
@@smudge1619 What about flamenco? Just wondering what's your opinion
@juanDoAs It's within the two styles, flamenco is very specifically right-hand technique, just as classical is. It is a more presto/aggressive interpretation, but once you learn it, you are back to classical and jazz.
Flamenco is an evolution of the two styles, it doesn't stand on its own.
@@user-jd6sf4ks3u It keeps on going afterwards when he adds back the chords and the melody,
The Pink Panther is one of the clearer cases of astoningshly killer pocket supereffective chord-melody ever written, and your tribute to this piece of timeless precious art lies at the same altitude. So good.
It is indeed an amazing tune, timeless. Thanks man:)

@@LucasBrar Hi Lukas this telegram acc its Real ? Im Ask for giveaway contest thats Real you?
What? English please. :)
holy finger indepedence! How are you doing that!?!?! the "shaker" percussion, the harmonics, it's perfect! amazing stuff!
What an absolute treasure of a video. The composition was subtly savage and was just the right levels of indulgence. On a personal note I'm really happy I now realised how you pull off that amazing soft-scrape sound with your palm along the guitar - it sounds so perfect and gives the impression of a double bass and jazz drums. Honestly this is peak TH-cam, we're so blessed that someone who's passionate and studied so many techniques has composed them together in a real skillfull way and then performed it for us. It's like a TED talk of Jazz, summing up years of study in a quick digestible treat of a video. It's videos like this that spur incite and inspire others - I hope you feel the bredth of this achievement. Not a single wig either! ;'D
Thanks for such a nice comment, I'm very happy you liked it and took the time to say that!
What you said. Spot on, Fleetfeet 👍
couldn't have said it better
Yeah that brushed snare sound he gets is so nice. There’s too many techniques in here that as a “classically” trained classical guitarist I am not familiar with.
Great point, such a cool interpretation
This might be one of the most iconic and underappreciated pieces of music ever written
Also that brushing thing is so damn cool
Henry Mancini in the 1960s!
The brush sound is insane. How does he even do it ?
.
True
Worn natural soundboard and rough fingers
So many great things to say about this this but I’ll just say it was so cool how you managed to create the sound of a brush along a snare. Bravo! Thank you!
Wow! I’ve been playing guitar for almost 50 years and never considered playing this on guitar. It’s usually played by an orchestra. I’d forgotten about this great piece of music and associated it with the cartoon I remember from my youth. But now I’m reminded that our high-school band played it fairly well.
Nothing of this caliber though and trying this song solo, I’ve never heard before.
“Cool” is an understatement. The chords you used here and the jazzy strum was phenomenal!
Thank you for doing this!
I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years now....off and on. I've built a flying V guitar maybe 2 years ago and a body in the style of "parker fly" 20 years ago.
It's very clear now that I must sell those guitars and the other 4 or 5 guitar I own, tomorrow.
@@jakefriesenjake did you ever play one of the original Parker Fly guitars? I played one up in Denmark Street in London back in the 90's and it blew my PRS custom 24 into the weeds!
@@restojon1 no I never did, as a kid, I thought that they looked awesome, in a magazine. I've never even seen one in real life
Pink Panther is pretty standard for a piano solo piece, or at least it used to be. Being as I got to guitar long, long after having played piano... it wasn't a question of "what is or isn't to be played on guitar" but "where are the notes on the strings for the song I want to play?" I didn't get very far, but I was able to plink out the melody to Not Tomorrow from Silent Hill before I gave up because practicing hurt my fingers too much. And now I have neuropathy sooo oh well! XD
@@tirsden, That’s the thing about this piece of music, it’s timeless in its intricacies. The bass starts it out and then the saxophone takes over. Snare drum played with brushes creates the “feel” of walking down the street. The forefront melody is easy enough to play on a guitar, but when I’ve done it alone, every nuance in the background is missing. It’s recognized as that Pink Panther theme but it’s weak.
This guy somehow pulled out the sax, bass, and muted snare with just a guitar. I couldn’t do all that and wouldn’t even try.
The piano is back there as well, but the saxophone is lead. Bass is too. Nowhere is a lead guitar so don’t hurt yourself trying.
This song is more of a feeling than anything written on paper. Imagine what this written in tablature would look like? Indecipherable because he’s playing so many parts at once. This isn’t something to copy or write down on paper, it’s just pure musical genius.
More personally, I’m sorry to hear about your neuropathy. That’s gotta suck. I was a rockstar in my youth and very healthy but time tells me something will give out sooner or later. I hope it’s not hand/mind coordination but it could be one day. It could be anything that limits me from being young again. I won’t sell my guitars though, and I won’t dust them off as they hang on the wall, mostly for memories and to annoy anyone who doesn’t understand. Take care my friend.
The shaker sound you create in rhythm while still playing by rubbing the guitar man... i mean... this is just simply amazing. You are an incredible guitarist and i hope to one day have even an ounce of your talent. Keep rocking and doing your thing!
Check out Tommy Emmanuel for some crazy stuff too! ;)
What an incredible use of unusual techniques to provide the texture of the full ensemble performances on a single instrument.
Lucas, I've been playing guitar over 50 years. When you get to that point, you hear someone play like this and you just know. You are a player.
... and a damn good one, sir!
Listen to tommy emmanuel play Classical Gas. Leaves you and Himself ! Breathless
Hard cord progression..nailed it

Congrats Lucas! This is a hell of a great performance: clean and sophisticated 🙂
I've played for 40 years, and my brain would ooozzz from eyes and ears if I tried to play this like you just did. Bravo maestro. Bravo!!!🎉🎉🎉
You know, Lucas, there are many talented guitarists, but with your arrangements I hear something soothing and kind. Your personality shows through them, I believe it is way more important than impeccable technique. I love the person behind the notes. Proud to be one of your subs. Keep up that attitude, you are really good.
That was a very nice comment to read, thank you so much!!
Totally agree - Lucas is a sweetheart and it shows in his music.
Agree! His technique does also seem pretty impeccable though :P
If I’d just heard the audio track, I’d have found it very hard to believe a single guitar player produced that sound. Amazing performance!
Fr i cant even play basic chords on guitar and this is insane 💀
NEVER gets old.
Kids of the 70s listened to a version of this every Saturday- over and over.
This guy built this performance note by note--what an accomplishment! Bravo!
I do believe all performances are built note by note!😂
So difficult, yet effortlessly executed!
YEAH , this song is difficult one .
... he played the drum brushes yet ...
Thank you Jamie!

Best guitar work I’ve seen in ages. Bravo! 👏
Dude,
I just realized right now that you are effectively one of the great guitarists of this generation.
I mean, you are obviously great at playing, composing, arranging, directing, humour, singing, etc.
But i just realized that youtube is the new scene of the 2020 musical scene, and you are in it, and you are a headliner here.
On a musical level, this is a incredibly masterful in all aspects. Thank you very much for everything.
I agree wholeheartedly; Lucas is a true master. He's the best guitarist I've ever heard, quite simply. His arrangement of Summertime is what inspired me to buy a classical guitar and learn it, myself (or at least try to!)
The counterpoint between the melody and walking baseline is so sick dude
This is amazing. Totally satisfied my nostalgia. Well done, sir.
the mastery in this video is so impressive. If I listened to this without video I'd of said there were at least 4 people/instruments playing. To do all that and remain tight throughout I commend you!
To me, classical guitarist are the pinnacle of feeling, emotion, and technic in guitar based music. What a player. Well done
The walking bass line in the 2nd part was absolutely fabulous. Great rendition and playing!
Great job! One of my favorite of all time Mancini pieces. Been my ring tone for years. Takes me back to watching the old Pink Panther cartoons they used to show before a drive-in movie back in the 70s and all the good times I had.
You show the possibilities of mastership on the guitar in two and a half minute. I play guitar myself for fortyfive years now in different styles, mostly Rock and Blues but I'm always impressed seeing someone doing things like that because I know what it means looking at the amount of talent, patience and countless hours of practicing. My greatest respect man! Hats off!
And I always loved this piece.
This is pure talent, you made a single guitar sound like a trio.
Excellent performance!
That was beautiful. Love how you mixed that walking bass line in 👌
WOW! He played a great piece that usually requires a full orchestra to hit all those sounds and notes, and he did it beautifully and perfectly! My parents bought the record in 1963, when it first came out, and played it a lot (I was ten y.o. that year). I grew up listening to, and loving, that theme music. Now, my young (to me) minister plays this on his record player, along with other Mancini pieces, on the Sabbath when we're having dinner. Wonderful how timeless Henry Mancini's music is!
I had to come back to this video and play it again. This performance and arrangement is by far my favorite version of this amazing classic song. I grew up with the original Pink Panther movies and cartoon show and as a kid this was one of my favorite theme songs. This solo guitar arrangement sounds like its accompanied by a full orchestra of instruments to me, I can't get over how skillful Lucas Brar is that all the melody, harmony and everything is all coming from his single acoustic guitar. Bravo!
I spent many hours talking to Ted Greene about other guitarists. He was a huge fan and appreciated all styles of playing. Occasionally, I would introduce him to someone he had never heard before and he was always interested and intrigued. I wish I could have shown him this.
Oh man, he's probably my biggest inspiration on guitar. Such a genius and a humble person. I must admit I'm jealous of you, I would have done anything to have a teacher like that... he's magical
@@LucasBrar I miss him terribly. There are so many things I would love to talk to him about, and so much more I could have learned. Also, he was just a good friend. Knowing him as well as I did I can guarantee you one thing for certain: he would have been a big fan of yours.
First: always loved the pink panther cartoons, and that absolutely iconic theme was like bells to Pavlov's dogs every time I heard it-- couldn't get to the TV fast enough (or tell everyone in the room to shut up). Never imagined this played on a single guitar before this, totally floored you nailed it! Not hard to see how difficult that was to play-- masterpiece! Thank you for this, Lucas!
I usually only listen to classical guitar of Bach, Tarrega, etc. but this is fabulous!! Thank you for this.
Bravo Lucas! I've heard the Pink Panther in different string instruments but your arrangement is awesome, love that jazzy spirit with the basses. Great performance.
Classical guitar has been cool for 100's of years! I build guitar amplifiers and when I hear a classical guitar played like this it makes me want to reevaluate my life. Well done, good sir!
A lot of people think due to the relaxing ambiance of the music that it is an easy tune to play. LOL How this guy plays the bass line so clearly and simultaneously plays the melody so clearly is amazing, His arrangement is spot on. After seeing this my guitar wants to trade me in.... ;-)
Amazing! Aside from just enjoying a new approach to one of my favorite tunes, I'm very impressed how you created the illusion of brush strokes on a drum.
That was way better than what I was expecting. Nice job on the bass line during the verses. I don’t think non guitarist understand how hard that is even though it sounds simple.
His look is perfect for this song. When I see real guitar players and I realize I've spent a lifetime hung up on C and G, I feel determined I might somehow add D and E in there somehow, some way, someday. Maybe Am and F go together and I might have myself a song. I could take lessons but my fingers are cramping and want to be stuck forming the G chord.
I don’t know about any of the other cats but you’re definitely cool Lucas. Love your arrangement! Thank you.
Glad you liked it man:)
Hello Lucas, just wanted to say I`ve made my living for 42 years teaching and performing on the guitar and I have to say you are a very refined player. I also do the counterpoint with chords, bass line and melody. You really do make it look effortless!
Cant say there is anyone out there better than him. Absolute top
Very cool snare brushes effect. As usual, a real pleasure to listen to you
This is the best video of jazz guitar on TH-cam hands down. That solo sounded amazing and it’s cool how you play the bassline simultaneously
This is great. I love how he drags his thumb as creates the sound of brushes on the snare.
That's been one of my favorite tunes for most of my life... to hear it done so well on an instrument it's wasn't designed for is amazing... thanks.
Maybe I should get out more but I have NEVER seen such talent, cheekiness, and emotional content. I found this very enjoyable, and am a loss for words to describe how masterful I felt this was. Thank-you!
Your arrangement is so exceptional and complex, which is the secret of its beauty. It is so difficult to play I wouldn't dare to try learning it.

That's the best solo version of that song iv'e ever heard on guitar, nice job man.
That’s a really nice arrangement. It sounds like you’re hitting some harmonics while playing other notes at the beginning. And I like the percussion-like brush sounds you get too. I can’t recall seeing any guitarist do that before.
So glad this wound up in my recommendations again a year later. Everything I said in my comment a year ago remains true, but this is more interesting now because nobody has tried to surpass this rendition on a classical guitar since then. In my opinion, it simply can’t be surpassed on this instrument. Lucas nailed this and it’s simply his. Nobody dares touch it.
I wish I played a song so well people were afraid to copy it. Or more accurately, just respect it too much to try.
I mean, look at those crazy chords?! Nobody in their right mind is going to try and top this, plus, they’d have to figure out every nuance and jazzy rhythm involved here! Nobody’s gonna do that. It’s his. It’s his piece. It’s beautiful.
Incredible! The sound you create is like a whole band playing😱
