It was so cool and heartwarming to see your reaction in the last video when you heard The Chairman of the Board for the first time. When you teared up for a moment I could tell it was genuine. Maybe it made you think of your grandfather as I thought about my pop. I grew up listening to Frank when my father who passed away played his music every weekend. It is very encouraging that someone like yourself who is from the young generation, and is part of a totally different genre of music, gave Frank's music a try, appreciated it, and loved it! Music knows NO BOUNDS! Keep it up, my friend.

So, here's what I think; I'm new to your channel, discovering it completely by accident a week ago, and I CANNOT STOP WATCHING. Why? Because my friend you are genuine. You clearly have a passion for music but importantly, you have heart, you have soul and you have an open mind. Your appreciation of older songs is addictive as you sit there like a sponge, absorbing all of this old-school music that's new to you, and enjoying it. What's refreshing is, you respect the older music genres. So good to watch. Keep doing what you're doing - my friends and I in the UK think you're great. #ComeOnNow

LOVE THAT JACKET! It's very sharp!!
This song comes from the musical, "Guys and Dolls".
In the movie, Frank Sinatra plays Nathan Detroit and Marlon Brandon plays Sky Masterson, who actually sings this song. Brando was not a singer but he did okay.
Lots of good music comes from this musical. A LOT of musicals have great music.
When Frank Sinatra was new on the scene, girls went crazy for him. They were called "Bobby Sockers" and my aunt was one of them. I can't imagine her screaming and crying.

Great reaction. But, some basic info on the song. This is from the musical “Guys and Dolls”. Even though Sinatra was a co-star in the movie, the lead roll was played by Marlon Brando. Brando (known more for his acting) was given the song to sing, during a scene involving a dice game. That’s why Frank simulates blowing on his dice hand in this performance.
Needless to say, Frank was pissed that he didn’t get to sing the song in the movie.

It's great to see you reacting to some of the old jazz standards. There were many great musicians back in the 40s & 50s. You can dive deep & be well rewarded. One of my favorite "crooners" of the day was Sinatra's friend, Dean Martin. Check out his "Sway."
But I'd love to see you react to some of the women, too, singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, June Christy, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, (George's aunt) and so many more. But first, I'd like to introduce you to a young lady who started to sing before she could talk, & to study jazz before she could walk. She is 13 years old now. Her name is Angelina Jordan. She auditioned for Norway's Got Talent at age seven, with Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday, made the judges cry, & won when she was just 8 years old. She has written three original songs, covers many great artists, & makes every song her own. Check out her cover of Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon. You can find about 100 of her performances on You Tube, & she is very generous with her work, so you won't run into a lot of copyright issues. Many reactors start out with her channeling Screamin'Jay Hawkins' I Put A Spell On You (the black & white video version) when she was just nine, because it is so spectacular. You won't believe a little girl can sing like that until you hear her. She will put a spell on you. She'll also get you a bunch of new subscribers. Her fans are fiercely loyal. th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html

I love the classics! Doris Day with the Andre Previn Trio/Close Your Eyes. Classic jazz! By the was, Frank was also an actor and starred in many movies.

The first time I went to Vegas in the mid 70's, I drove out there and radio stations were few and far between in the west back then. I was about 60 miles out from Vegas, searching for a radio station, and through the static came this song. I wasn't really into Sinatra at the time, but it just screamed "Vegas Baby!", I was so excited I was going about 100 mph out there in the desert. And once I got there, you'd hear it in every casino. Since then I've liked Sinatra, cool that you do too.

From the musical Guys and Dolls, Frank starred in the movie version and made it his from the start. Later Nelson Riddle rearranged for Frank in true swing style.
What an era of real musicians! I really enjoy you and your channel. Thank you!

That jacket you're wearing is very sharp. You dressed right for the occasion. I like your reaction. You were swinging along with Frank. This song represents the big time swing sound, and nobody did it better than Frank. The older music had a different sound than today's music. It's good to see you explore a variety of music.

You can tell that he was a true professional and gentleman by the simple gesture of in the middle of the song he stopped singing and let the band shine before continuing with the song. As if he is showing his gratitude for being allowed to sing with such a great band. To this day Frank, Dean and Sammy, (The rat pack), were the very definition of cool and the bar of cool performers strive to attain, and few will ever reach.

    Appreciating your discoveries. Thank you.
Short Sinatra story:. A friend of mine once waited on Frank Sinatra in a Vegas hotel restaurant back in the mid 70s. At the end of the meal, Sinatra asked him, "What was the biggest tip you ever got?". My friend said, "$100.". Sinatra grinned and handed him $200. As he got up to leave, he asked, "Who gave you the $100?" My friend smiled and said, "You did."

Did he say, " look at the limestones" (on his jacket)? Ha! Think he likely meant "rhinestones." I love these brothers discovering classics, but that made me giggle.
