    Hi, great video! I was born in Varadero, but I moved to Canada 11 years ago. It seems that you are staying at Blau Varadero, my sister works at that resort. I often get asked by Canadians "what gifts should I bring to Cuba"? Soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, Crayolas, toys, etc, etc. Have fun in Cuba!

    As for mosquitos, they really dont have rhem in the dry season which is winter months. They do have sand mites, whixh deet bug spraying your towels even on beach chairs is a must. Always have benadryl or allergy medication for any bites you might get, which will stop the itching and reaction from there bites.

      They have prepaid cuban cards that you put your home currency on for excursions, buying anything in shops. For food and drink off toyr resort usd is best. Covert to usd at bank before you travel with change for trips and cabbing, eating off your resort etc. Leave cards for excursions as they no longer take cash and thet are priced in usd. Some hotels have a credit place to get the prepaid cards. The hotel roc beside muthu playa resort in veradero is where i did it last year, going agsin this year. Safe and haooy travels

      usd is now accepted, they no longer charge the percentage , that is done with, the best rate is with locals, you can also bring one dollar bills and 5 s usd and get your change in pesos at the black market rate. do not bother to bring canadian, tooo much hassle.

    Great info! But I find it odd that people would want to “Americanize” the Cuban food with ketchup!
    Isnt part of traveling to foreign locations is to try their food? Ketchup is an insult to the cook. The only time I put ketchup on something is when the food is not tasty and I’m trying to cover it up enough to make it edible.
    To each their own, but I don’t know of too many people that would appreciate a foreigner visiting North America, ordering a dish to try, and then covering it with sauces from their own home so it doesn’t taste anything like a North American dish… 🤷‍♂️ so why do it to others? To me, this would be a bit on the rude side…

    • @JeffLepard
      @JeffLepard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do agree with you on the ketchup. I've been using it my entire life. I've just recently settled down a bit and also using sugar free ketchup.

      You get free bottles in your rooms daily. If you need more then you can buy them cheap in the gift shop or ask front desk for more. I find if you tip your maid well they will make sure you get lots of water extra ontop of what you get standard in your room per person. I always make sure to do this and leave all unused water in the room. As for food, yes they can have food and drink shortages, it par for the course going to cuba. You can bring small snacks in your luggage if needed like granola bar/protein bars if you dont like some of the offerings at your hotel.

      You need to pull up a list of restricted entities that is prohibited to stay in for US citizens [Google it] If you are flying from US you going to need a visa for 100$ you can obtain it at the airport I got mine at Miami International Airport and an electronic application for travelers to Cuba called Dviajeros it's free you can fill it out online before the flight or it's also available at the airport there is a stand where you scan a QR code fill out the application and just get a screen shot of the completed application and save it have it ready to present to airport authorities. It's pretty simple. If you get asked by any US authorities why did you go to Cuba the answer is TO SUPPORT PEOPLE OF CUBA it's very important! Of course, you need to get a passport if you have one check if it's valid, not expired. Safe travels 🤙🏽 We are staying at Melia International Varadero it's absolutely gorgeous. One of the best all-inclusive resorts in Cuba
