btw where u all this time
Where do you get your black gloves from?
Cherish him while he's young, bro, they grow up so fast!
Absolutely right!!!
So true
I agree. Woke up one morning and my son was gone and this bloke was living with me.
This thing was surprisingly clean, whoever owned this took pretty good care of it.
I agree. When he opened it up and got to the circuit board, it was so shiny and clean. I couldn't believe it. Most of these kinds of restorations have dirty circuit boards to some extent.
I'm sure that it made restoring the Dreamcast that much easier. The only things that had to be done were whitening the shell and replacing the mother board.
@@octolingjen power-board not mother board, but yeah it was a simple project.
I completely agree. I expected it to have pop and snacks all ground into it.
Agreed
My son held the controller just like that when his hands were too little to reach all of the buttons. 😊 He's 23 now and still holds it like that.
i’m so glad too see you as a father i have been watching your channel 5 years ago
thank you
@@TysyTubeI finally have the ability to subscribe and i did :)
My favourite game was Pong, because that's all we had. Uphill both ways in blinding snow, ladies.
Nice restoration! The way your kid held the controller is adorable lol
The way he held it is gonna make him lose any game
@@kirdot2011don’t be mean bro he’s just a kid 😕
"now I have money but my childhood is gone" goddamn that hit me like a ton of bricks.
yeah that was hard
I just started reading "The Perfectionists" by Simon Winchester. It's about how precision manufacturing of mass-produced parts makes modern life possible, and what a new development that is in mankind's history. I've watched the videos on this channel for years, but now I'm getting a new appreciation for all the little screws and electronic components that are in these devices you restore.
man it's so satisfying to see the claw thing grab the screws etc
Your scrub brush says scrubscribe 😂
😂
Ikea's scrub brush* :D
i thought it said unsubscribe
@@Help-gq9ik who would unsubscribe that is well mad
This was such a nice thing to do for your son!!! He’s going to look back on this years from now and remember how awesome you still are!!!
❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks so much
I played back to back RPGs in 2000 on the Dreamcast. Grandia 2, and Skies of Arcadia. Made Me a fan for life. Thanks for restoring this console for your kid.
Oh man the memories those are the days when gaming was so epic and to play with friends you had to actually go to their house or invite them I did a lot of that just to play different games and keep friends. I just wish time didn't fly so fast.❤
🥲
@@DreamcoreSoundsWhistlebritches and going to the arcade as well
@@jackking20 oh man the arcade games and those quarters we'd all save up....man I'll never forget those days....just so epic.
@@DreamcoreSoundsWhistlebritches fun times
@@jackking20 Definitely 👍
All we had in my childhood days were board games and the ones we played outside. I never imagined there would be electronic games someday.
I’ve seen all his videos so I knew it would be a perfect restoration.. so just fast forwarded to the end for the feels 👍💙
Dreamcast is cute and I wanted to hug the console❤
Your father is a great man, always respect and love him❤
I remember those days when dreamcast came out.
Great job on the restoration, there sure was a lot of screws!! I’m sure your son will have hours of enjoyment from it!
Man, i've never had one of this myself. In my city we had some game renting stores and me and my friends went to that stores to play dreamcast or neogeo paying for hour. But, as kids we had not much money, neither to buy one nor to play for a long time. You brought me back lots of good childhood memories. Thanks for this video.
Great restore. I also restored a Dreamcast a couple years ago. One thing I would recommend if you haven't done so already is to replace that coin battery near the controller ports as its likely either dead or soon will be. Just solder on a vertical coin battery holder so that it can be replaced easily in the future and you'll be all set 👍
Amazing restoration, my favorite childhood game is, was and always will be the Zelda series
Fantastic video again my friend. I love seeing you getting the plastic back to white. Sending massive love from Ireland 🇮🇪
The feels... remember this like yesterday! Cute ending!
Watching him play was so sweet. He's getting so big. Thanks for sharing, Tysy.
Thanks for watching!
As far as the Dreamcast goes, my fave was called Cyber Troopers: Virtual On
That's so awesome. I noticed the Compatible with Windows CE logo and the line in RJ45 port. Never knew these had that capability.
oh yeah !!!! awesome restauration ! when I got the status of the power supply board, especially the big capacitor, I said the ignition problem comes from there! I love how happy your son is! he is happy, it shows! You are a very good father!
What a cool dad! Be sure to get the high resolution output cable (component / vga / hdmi) because this console is capable of so much more than composite shows you!
I know the days when these are so epic! I always played on these consoles with my friends. Thx so much for making this vid❤
Such a wholesome video he is a lucky kid and you are an awesome dad. Wish more people were like this
I really like the asmr aspect of these videos. it actually helps me relax.
Dreamcast, the most underrated, overlooked, frowned upon console. It was so good.
I find these videos oddly satisfying, much love to you and your son❤
Amazing restoration your dad is very skilled
I think so too!
No matter how many times I see the peroxide and UV light trick to whiten aged plastic, it still blows my mind. I like the little screw grabber, too.
Although I played my friend’s Atari, we were too poor to afford anything, too. My ex-husband’s family had one of the early Nintendo consoles, and although I loved Tetris, I had the most fun playing Duck Hunt from as far away as I could get from the screen.
Sonic Adventure (1 & 2) were such epic games at the time! Raising the little Chao's with all the fun things you could do, like racing them, in all of the mini-games was great. Phantasy Star Online is another good one - those games are collector's items for the Dreamcast, so if you ever see those ROMs for a good price, it would be a sound investment...
The Dreamcast was always a system I wanted as a kid. So glad you could restore this
Good job Tysy tube beautiful restoration well done
Thank you 🤗
Tysytube. One of the few genuine restorers on TH-cam.
My favorite game was Sonic Adventure. Played it over and over. I actually still have my original system in storage. Seeing this makes me want to hook it up and play. Thanks for the video!
That's awesome!
TysyTube's son is TinyTube😁
Even though I was an adult when the Dreamcast was released, i have so many fond memories of that console.
I worked at a game store during the DC/PS2/XBOX era, and it was definitely a golden age for gaming.
I never had a Dreamcast. I started with SNES. Super Castlevania IV is my favorite video game of all time.
Cute kid!❤
Seriously this is the best one yet thank you for sharing this with us
Marvellous job. Love the cat and cow jugs, and how pleasant and peaceful in using a manual screwdriver.
Beautiful restoration. I recently found our old family Dreamcast and it still worked! Our favorite family game by far was Soul Caliber. Endless nights were spent battling each other. Honorable mentions go to: Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, and Sega Bass Fishing the the Dreamcast fishing reel controller. Great memories.
Japan got this console ~ a year before everyone else in November 1998. It released in USA and Canada September 1999, and EU October 1999. I was 20 years old and had just begun dating my first wife. Seems like an entire lifetime ago! You've done a spectacular job breathing new life into this one!
I too was raised by very poor parents. I feel a kinship with you as I lived childhood through my kids toys as well. I still live toys at 51 yrs old lol. I guess we never really grow up.
exactly 😂
Man I just love how your video only appear at 2 am if i dont search them ❤
I had a Mega Drive in 92, then a saturn, then a N64, then a Dreamcast, then a Xbox and then a 360. Fantastic memories of this console. I played Sega Bass Fishing with the official reel for months on end with mate. The memories.
Nice job on the restoration. I'm always amazed at the parts you can find.
Nice to see this console restored. I had one when I was in high school. Fun times!
I played Sonic Adventure a LOT.
So very long ago... I even had a Jaguar system.
Hope your son has a blast with those old systems. He's lucky he has a father who knows how to save them. 😊
Hi TysyTube.
We are new subscribers to your channel and have 3 little tips to share with you.
Tip 1:- Whenever possible, ALWAYS replace electrolytic capacitors, particularly in vintage electronics that's at least 40 years old. This includes capacitors found in most power tools (start and run capacitors). Anything made in the mid 1990's, could also do with a capacitor replacement job too.
Tip 2:- With regards to vintage motorized power tools etc, it's best to replace the carbon brushes. These above 2 tips will future proof your motors and circuit boards from disaster later on.
Tip 3:- Treat yourself to an Ultrasonic Cleaner, less hard work, less scrubbing. Put the parts in the cleaner with degreaser, or detergent, press the button and get on with something else.
Hope you find these tips useful.
Warmest Regards.

I wish I could do this stuff... Looks so satisfying and gives back "life" to old that would go lost or in the trashbin... But i cannot even fix the stuff I've already here. Maximum respect to you
Perfect timing, as the Dreamcast just celebrated 35 years this year!
Puppies to the rescue was one pf my favorite childhood games too! Though I played it on my PS2.
Awesome job man! He needs to play Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue.
And have him play Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, Sonic, and Metropolis Street Racer
If you make your 5 yo son play Shenmue he's gonna hate you for life lmao
Wait until he's a little more grown-up, then it'll be different.
I bet finding a copy will cost more than the console
I haven't seen one in a long time! Thanks and great work, as always!! 💪🏽
I didn't even notice until the plastic was white again that this wasn't an NA Dreamcast. Those had the red swirl. Neat. Mine was very dusty when I got it 10 years ago, and not nearly as yellow. Completely different sources between you and I. Neat.
Wildly the most underrated console of a generation, it was only after it was discontinued that people realized what happened.
Jet Set/Grind Radio was a comfy Dreamcast title but there were so many titles. Capcom vs Marvel, vs SNK, King of Fighters, pretty much most arcade games from the 90s era had a Dreamcast ported release.
Wanted to comment to give your son something to heart. Your amazing at what you do man! Keep it up!
I appreciate that!
Wait till you see the joy in your son’s eyes when he is playing on it with his Dad. It’s the highlight of my son’s day, playing Super Mario with Dad on a crappy day. I wish you and your son many happy memories
Fur Fighters, Demolition Racer, Vigilante 8 and Zombies Revenge were some of my favourites.
That is so cool! I used to buy old consoles myself and try to fix them. Honestly its a really fun process. Wish i had better tools to work on them
My new truck’s license plate starts with TYS so I call it the Tysy Truck. Lol
😂 awesome, what country ?
Great job, even the grey buttons and controllers bezel turned white XD, it look good though.
I really love all your restorations, amazing work!
My favorite childhood games are:
-Re-Volt
-Airfix Dogfighter
-Sid Meier's Railroads
My favorite game was breath of fire.
Great restoration Tysy, thanks for sharing.
The before / after is really really impressive 🤩👍
This was very interesting and enjoyable. You did a great job.
You got that mechanical keyboard switch grabbing thing! Good use of it.
Fantastic work as always nice to see the next generation that might take over from you 😀
Super restauration ! Une observation cependant, le retrobright a décoloré les boutons Power et Reset ainsi que la zone entourant les ports manettes, qui sont gris clair d’origine.
Playing with my dad on his old NES is part of the best memories I have from him. I hope your son will enjoy it as much as I did !
Brings me back, the year is 1999 and my father got me this console for my 10th birthday. Talk about a happy kid, and I had the N64 too and me and my friends would borrow each others games. What time to be alive!!
Sonic Adventure - Skies of Arcadia -Jet Set (Grind) Radio - Powerstone - Soul Calibur - Phantasy Star Online - Metropolis Street Racer - Grandia 2 - House of the Dead.. were all titles i owned for this magnificent console that didn't get enough love back then. Luckily there is still a growing market for it now! Good to see this one restored, excellent job.
Dad has done some awesome work for you there!!! Tell him I said I had the same one when I was your age! But ask him to get you a bigger telly!!!😂
Never realised the dreamcast was so loud lol.
Also having him play on such a small TV is criminal 😂
My favorite childhood games are Need for Speed Most Wanted, Need for Speed Underground 2 and KOTOR 2
My daughter happily plays with the same Genesis I used to play on when I was her age. It makes me feel old but at the same time I'm happy to share the experience with her.
Outrun was my absolute favorite Sega game, cheers mate !
Great to see you back on TH-cam! Nice job.
My cousin and I really enjoyed playing Bubsy! So many good memories
I regretfully sold all my old games when I was in college to help cover my bills. Now that i'm older i'm rebuilding my childhood collections. My kids and I relive my childhood through these games. It helps to heal my soul and enjoy time connecting with my kids through what I loved to do. It's a great media to share stories and build memories. Cherish this time with your son as time is fleeting and fickle. Thank you for all the lovely videos and I hope you have a great time with your son.
my favorite growing up was always animal crossing on the gamecube... such nostalgia!
My favorite *childhood* game was definitely Pokemon Silver Version, but my favorite Dreamcast games were prolly Phantasy Star and Sonic Adventure 2!
Really cool to see this console given new life, I hope your son gets many hours of fun out of it!
That's some surprisingly vintage-looking electronics inside the 1998 console, even SNES had smaller, more "modern-looking" components
My friend had one because my family couldn’t afford one either. Brought back alot of memories. I grew up in the slums. This video was awesome man keep up the great work. My favorite game was probably either crazy taxi or resident evil. Me and my brother were able to get an n64 at some point so that’s the system we had. Now my kids have every system on the market kids nowadays are clueless how we grew up back then with nothing.
My favorite restoration wizard is back❤
Your son playing is so cute 😍
I used to love this game! My favorite part was digging !
I never had a Dreamcast; I grew up playing the Atari 2600. Still have that old thing, and a box full of games- some work, and some don't. But I won't deny that the memories I made with my brothers as we fought over who got to be the 'left' paddle in Pong or who got to be the blue square are cherished nonetheless. I'm lucky enough to remember the console wars, the way games pushed the boundaries of what we thought was possible- and I remember the sense of abandonment and disgust when our money was pooled into a new game- like Superman 64- only to find out that it was literally unplayable.
I recently bought my son a Ps4 and while I'm not unhappy he doesn't play it often, I do wish that he knew where video games come from. Children now stand on our shoulders, being born in the days of 4K graphics and 1080p resolution, oblivious to the slideshow games of our youth. I'm glad he's more interested in being outside than on an electronic but the younger version of myself would've marveled at the amount of screens kids have access to these days, for better or for worse.
Used to play this when I was younger :D
omg that 102 Dalmatians game was my favorite (and possibly only?) Dreamcast game!!
My favorite game was crazy taxi, we used to play in my neighbors house, what a beautiful simple days 😢
I think this vid is the best one yet great job on the restore and your son look happy. Keep up the cool vid's.
