I was totally on the fence about upgrading my 14 Pro. The features weren’t that compelling but my 14 Pro’s battery health was sitting at 79%. So it was a choice between getting my battery replaced or upgrading. In the end I decided to upgrade and in the past week I’ve already noticed that apps that would make my 14 Pro really hot and drain the battery are no longer a problem on the 16 Pro max. Features aside, just having a phone that doesn’t over heat is such a welcome upgrade. Not a new feature but I love that I could map my garage door opener to the action button as well. Also looking forward to the full apple intelligence rollout. Personally couldn’t care less about the camera. Only have a Pro model for the refresh rate and always on display.

This is my first iPhone with a large display and also my very first Pro iPhone even first time with ProMotion.. I upgraded from the base 15 and it’s night and day difference !! The battery and display is insane !! It stays cool no matter what I do it only got a little warm while set up and a little while I gamed after a good while but not too much nothing like my 15 use to do !! I’m keeping the 16 pro max until at least the 20
On my 16 Pro (not Max), the camera control location is a lot better. I actually use it as a button to quickly launch a camera and take a photo one handed, and it only takes a slight adjustment on the way I hold the phone to do this comfortably. With the Max it might be too far down and large/heavy to do one handed.
I much prefer Camera Control on the smaller Pro - it's definitely more usable than on the Max. Although even then, I still find myself avoiding it for anything other than launching the camera app!
I thought the camera button was useless really until I found myself relying on it to take photos quickly in certain moments. It is a lot quicker at switching through things when you want to take pictures and not miss anything

These are really good videos man, it's nice to hear someone in Australia giving a quality review because we have such an intense climate that I don't think a lot of international reviewers can really account for. I haven't got my phone yet but I'll be going 16 Pro rather than 15 simply for the slight future-proofing. Although the 15 Pro will be Apple Intelligence capable, I have a feeling that the true performance of the 16 will shine more once that comes out in full.
Haha its kind of funny hearing an Australian voice while watching a video about an iphone. The only reason why i say that, is because im used to watching Sam Beckman over the years as he's fully integrated into the android platform - or more specifically, nowadays, the Samsung Ecosystem.
My 16 pro heats up whenever I use the camera app for more than 2-3 mins. And the battery starts draining fast. Other than that the battery lasts for more than 12-13 hours
I'm actually really glad I got a chance to come across this. Not only is he absolutely freaking cute, but I love the honesty he gives too. I keep going back and forth if I wanna wait and enjoy my 13PM being paid off and maybe upgrade to the 17 or upgrade now and enjoy the longer battery and maybe start taking pictures too. I noticed a yellowish screen on the 16 PM model compared to older models. It’s dimmer as well. There seems to be an issue with palm rejection, as sometimes the screen becomes unresponsive, and the keyboard becomes delayed frequently.
I actually tried out Torras cases a while back and i love them! I have one for my Pixel 9 Pro XL, My Brother has his for his Pixel 8 Pro And i have one coming in the mail for my iPhone 16 PM. I also like Spigen but, for the moment I'm enjoying what Torras has to offer.

It's hard to say, because I was using a roaming package vs an Indonesian SIM card with a local connection. However I was impressed at the signal - even out in the middle of nowhere in Ubud I could still get a signal most of the time!

Battery they for sure did a solid work on this year, that and Camera alone was worth the upgrade from my 15 Pro. "button" is just there, solid to quick start Camera so have some use. :) Big thing is that they fix the overheating that 15 Pro had that was silly, the 16 Pro max stay cool like it should.
15 pro was great to start with but the battery definitely started to deteriorate a lot faster than my 14 pro. I will probably upgrade to this so I hope the battery has improved
The iPhone 14 Pro/Max, 15 Pro/Max, and 16 Pro/Max all have the same main Wide angle 48 camera image sensor. So the image sensor the 16 Pro/Max has is effectively from 2 years ago. What's different across the generations is the processing that happens both at the hardware level on the silicon which is largely aided by the Image Signal Processor and some post-production software enhancements. Also would have loved if you talked about Next Generation Photographic Styles since it's finally a non-destructive way to let shadows be shadows. Perhaps for the next video.

People please stop after 6 months usage my 15 pro max lost 10% health and i can barely squeeze 5 hours onscreen time. Apple just puts physically small batteries and they don`t age well to make you upgrade every year PERIOD
Apple stiill has not acknowledged the screen touch sensetivity issues that ALOT of users have complained about. I warrantied my 16 pro max and the new one I got had the same issue. I hope it is fixed in a software update, assuming its not hardware related

It’s honestly infuriating me at times for what I paid and I honestly wanna go back to my 12 pro max I upgraded from or just get the galaxy s25 ultra in january. And most screen protectors suck especially the spigen one is super thick. The only good one I found that doesn’t lower sensitivity is the Belkin ultra glass since it’s only like .28mm and apple owns Belkin. Fortunately the Apple Store did it for me for free cuz their POS wasn’t working when I came in lol

(and the camera is mid) my battery capacity is at 68% (i can use it for like two hours and then its done), the screen is falling apart too… i just ordered the 16 pro max though, and when you showed the chart that the battery life holds for almost 12 hours… im such a boomer at 18 thats crazy

iOS 18 is a more demanding OS than what your iPhone 12 was designed to handle, so that on top of the battery likely already being quite consumed due to age means your battery life probably sucks and won't get better. You could replace the battery, but I think you should definitely think about upgrading to a newer model.

Lack of fingerprint on-screen login makes it a deal-breaker to me. I was considering to come from Android but yes, the musle memory is stronger. I can't use some faceID. I find it a problem in terms of privacy.

You can't actually see that irl, it's just an IR LED which is show on cameras.

Found zero issues with touch on my pro max. Don’t use the camera button often but it is fairly useful for a quick pic.

Lack of fingerprint on-screen login makes it a deal-breaker to me. I was considering to come from Android but yes, the musle memory is stronger. I can't use some faceID. I find it a problem in terms of privacy.
