  • My version of famous Winnie the Pooh dry fly. I wanted to tie this traditional pattern slightly different so take a look and learn some cool tricks. :)
Winnie the Pooh is a great adult Caddis pattern and national fly of Finland. Originally invented by Simo Lumme.
This fly will float even in very strong currents! I usually tie this sizes 8 to 12.
    Material list:
-Hook: Hanak Competition Stillwater & Wet, Barbless, size 12 in this video (I like to use strong hooks in dries also so they last big fish better!).
    -Thread: UNI Thread 8/0, Brown.
-Wings/Ears: Bear Hair (I use brown bear. You can use similar hair or feather tips or polypropylene).
-Body: Orangish dubbing (I mix my own from Kapok, Seal and Polyamid).
-Hackles: Dry fly rooster cape/saddle (Light Ginger Dun in this version).
Tie few and enjoy the caddis hatch! Tight lines and happy tying! :)

Man you’re killing me. It’s said you catch 90% of your fish that you have on 90% of the time. That would be me and my fly of choice is a Caddis. I love how they float, how they look and how they catch fish. I’ve caught Arctic Grayling, Rocky Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Cutthroat Trout on this amazing little morsel. Definitely my “go to” fly if I haven’t already gone to it. Cheers.
