    Thousand thanks for the video. If what you tied is great for trout (freshwater streamer fishing), then you should try fishing an epoxy minnow / Popovics Surf Candy in #2 hook size. A killer fly for Spring spawning-run Shad, Herring & Striped Bass. Overall your Xmas-tinsel fly is reminiscent of a Mushymouth saltwater pattern normally tied on a 2/0 hook. Cheers!

    A great tie - Love the cheat with the superglue for the head as in past have pulled deer hair down and taken thread back to tie down which as I saw would affect the hackle below and then tie'd off but this combines with the flattening of the hackle using the UV resin is neater - superb! just a thought - the Semperfli dry fly poly yarn comes in caddis brown and various other colours which would further increase 'floatability' and brushes out well to give a buggy affect and can be used in a dry the same way as the Dirty bug yarn which I tend to use mostly for nymphs/wets

    • @handsomeflyfisher837
      @handsomeflyfisher837 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot Andrew! 😊💪👊🏻 I have to develop the Handsome Caddis 2.0 because Arctic Chars smashed these this summer in Norwegian mountains! Wing section didn’t last so well as I wanted (maybe I have to use the thread for the head section or add some uv-resin.. 🤔) and also the floatability wasn’t so good after a couple fish. But they really catch the fish!! I will definitely try Semperfli Dry Fly Poly yarn for the Handsome Caddis 2.0! 💪👊🏻😍

      @@handsomeflyfisher837 The results speak for themselves! Beauty! And a special thanks.. the saltwater angel hair is VERY similar to an "Awesome Hair" that I purchased a few bags of when I was a teenager. It was amazing to work with. It was discontinued years ago and I have been looking for a suitable replacement since. This has the fiber length I was looking for. I lost my last Awesome Hair baitfish on a very very large brown trout in a tailwater 4-5 years ago. I kind of missed it 😉 That angelina sheen in a baitfish can elicit some crazy predatory strikes.

    Man you’re killing me. It’s said you catch 90% of your fish that you have on 90% of the time. That would be me and my fly of choice is a Caddis. I love how they float, how they look and how they catch fish. I’ve caught Arctic Grayling, Rocky Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Cutthroat Trout on this amazing little morsel. Definitely my “go to” fly if I haven’t already gone to it. Cheers.

    Most of my fishing happens on a large canal in Central Europe, so I have spent a good amount of time watching gobies zapping around between the rocks in the shallows. I was shocked to see how spot on the swimming action on the deer hair version is!

    • @handsomeflyfisher837
      @handsomeflyfisher837 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Whittler33 thanks for your comment! For this pattern I wanted to build it up a little bit different than ”basic” one. For example you can leave the hackles out. And if you want to tie really simple pattern just go with bucktail and flashabou 👌👍 Speeding up the videos is all about my style to do them and you don’t need to show every single step in real time (like combing the hairs with needle or ripping the flashabou etc.). It takes around 20minutes to tie one of these and yeah I fish with these and I’ve caught many trouts with this pattern! 😊💪🤘 Have a great spring & summer and tight lines mate! 👊🏻
