I recently heard Pedro Carbone at The Phillips Collection program in Washington, D.C. Carbone was brilliant and masterful for Espla's Sonta Espagnole" as well as Albeniz's Iberia and Falia's Baetica. These pieces are a fascinating intersection between Chopin and 12-tonal music.

This sonata was unfairly criticised in its time. Great Esplá, and great Carboné (pupil of the magnificent Pilar Bayona)!!

I remember hearing AdL playing this quite brilliantly in recital...although the music has interesting moments, I don't find it particularly distinctive or memorable...
