Just returned from a trip to Iraq with my Wife. Such an incredible country, we were made so incredibly welcome. The Baghdad to Basra train was such an adventure, loved it. Anyone considering a trip should go, no security concerns and such an easy visa on arrival process.
Doug's honestly such a wonderful person , we don't know him personally but his reaction to the martyrs mother shows what kind of guy he is. That's why i think Doug genuinely has some go the best content out there, he's not just vlogging and making some tacky video for views but actually connecting with people and showing the other side of thing. I really enjoyed this video, keep up the great content man :)
It's nice to see that this country is rebuilding and people can visit. I spent 3 tours there and I was hoping that some day people could come and see the many historical places.

Iraqis who have suffered so much for years are so friendly to foreigners is a credit to them. It's most unfortunate that our media portrays these hospitable people in such a bad light. I have decided to visit the country in next three months during their winter. I have travelled extensively in the east and almost all the markets sell cheap Chinese goods but Iraqi markets had their locally crafted souvenirs, a credit to them. Had it not been for their sacrifices and the issued fatwa of Sayed Ali al-Sistani (May God prolong his life) in 2014, everything in this video wouldn't have been possible - tourists visiting, the smiles of people, or even the chirping birds in the morning. What you saw was only one mother who lost her son, there's hundreds and thousands of stories that haven't been told or shared on social platforms yet, and probably never will. Thank so much for your Iraq videos. I worked on a long term project for Iraq betweem 2010 and 2021, including during the ISIS period, before retiring, and spent time in Basra, Baghdad and Erbil. It is so encouraging to see the progress being made, but interesting to see the "hotel" on the bank of the river in Basra hasn't developed since I was last there! I have several Iraqi friends with whom I stay in touch. Sadly I doubt if I'll be able to visit Iraq again so these videos are a welcome reminder of my times there. I recognise some of the places you have been.

Your vlog and its portrayal of the brave, proud, welcoming and resilient people of Basrah is as joyous as it is humbling. Your reaction to the mother of the martyr'd son was deeply moving, as was the reaction of the small chai boy, with his soft toy. Your open friendliness toward your hosts and their's back to you says much for your and their common decency and humanity. It was also fantastic to glimpse perhaps the beginnings of the restoration of the Venice of the East
I wish the people of Basrah and the rest of Iraq peace, prosperity and joy. One day I want to go back to Basrah, by the route I came 19 years ago - up the 801 from Kuwait, via Umm Qasr - but as a pilgrim and tourist. Salam washukran
