discovered this drink in Lafayette a few weeks ago. Have enjoyed an Old Fashion for years. This has a distinctive New Orleans taste. The Vieux Carre. if you've spent anytime in the French Quarter you'll understand.
Dude's got the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection sitting on the bar... I'd say I'm jealous, but not really. I'd just be happy to get regular Buffalo Trace products on a regular basis. You can keep the fancy stuff 😉
Excellent Rye whiskey. 👍🏽 In New Orleans, we prefer a sugar cube. I consider it a perfect dilution when there’s a little bit of crystal still left in the bottom of the glass when it is served.
LOVE a split base - it's how I often make them at home (though we were bigging up BTAC in some vids for this - though Handy makes maybe the best Saz if you're going for a straight rye base)
We were fortunate enough to get them at actual wholesale price, so charged more like 25. But yeah it's a luxurious choice. 'Sazerac' Rye or Rittenhouse 100 both make an amazing one at far cheaper prices.

I can never find a good one anywhere. Some of the best cocktails come outta New Orleans in my opinion.

The sugar cube is the best especially when there is a little bit of sugar left at the bottom of the glass for the last couple of sips.
From New Orleans area too and completely agree
I happily work for Sazerac.
I live in New Orleans area. Can you get me some Handy for my Sazerac? 🤣
Try a split base (cognac and whiskey) and an atomizer for the absinthe! I do that with mine. You won't be disappointed! 👍

I want to drink at that bar!
Just saw a bottle of thomas handy locally. 500 bucks. Each cocktail have to be about 40 bucks lol

this was excellent!
Where did you get the cup? I love that style
Nice
2:09 what was that 1 teaspoon ? sugar syrup / simple syrup ?
I believe so yes
2:1 (rich) sugar syrup!
"were gonna add a single bar teaspoon' He never even said what it was he was adding.
Hi Oscar. It's sugar syrup... He mentions it at the start but admittedly it's not very clear when pouring.
Good spot Oscar - shot in effectively one take so totally missed that oversight. As FDTV said, it's a 2:1 rich sugar syrup.
EXACTLY!! I assume it was simple syrup. Demerara is the best. Adds that molasses touch.
It’s pronounced “pay-shawd” bitters
I’m happy I got baby saz this dude pulls out T handy thats a 90$ shot seen over 400$ for a pappy
Pee-Show Bitter's , sorry mate can't find it on Amazon..........
Peychaud’s bitters.
@@phi376 Indeed. Also, Bitter Truth Creole Bitters are brilliant.
What a waste of Thomas Handy Rye. Sacrilege.😜
Man I clicked the video just to see if he really used Handy lol. Has entire BTAC collection sitting there. Love a good Sazerac but with baby saz
Don't know what your putting in the drink, too much talking
