    I too didn't know that focussing screens existed. Thanks for this very clear and concise explanation. Keep up the good work!

    Battery Grip, they are available for pretty much every DSLR out there. Make sure you buy the right one. There are those that even can take AA batteries. Others only take the batteries as supplied for said model.
    Not only does it gives more "juice" it also makes the camera a bit more square so heavier lenses are easier to handle. And.. Portraits are much easier ;)
    Worth the money? If you do allot of portrait style shooting definitely yes.

    50D for some reason was considered more 'pro' than 60D is now (because of the magnesium body, etc). Since the 60D has dropped in it's rank to just above the rebel series, this is true that it's the only camera to offer this.

    The lower the aperture number, the 'faster' the lens.
    Your fastest lens is your 50mm f/1.8 (not an EF-S by the way).

    @arch3rkid0 The 7D has this built in. It has a transmissive LCD. It's one of the reasons it's more expensive. Enjoy it. I love using mine.

    Going to order the grid. I'm used to my D90's grid and assumed the 60 would have a framing grid. Ah well. The grid screen is $30 or so online and it looks easy to replace.
    I didn't realize the 60 didn't have the same focusing screen as the 50D or the 7D.

    The focusing screen, as far as I know, only helps us see when the image is focused, which is essential for manual focusing but also for af. If you remove it, I believe the image in the viewfinder won't look focused.

  • @BrunoPascoalPT
    @BrunoPascoalPT 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Indeed, it's EF, not EF-S. My bad.
    I know that the 50mm is my fastest lens, but someone else was arguing that saying "f/2.8 or faster" is wrong and was lecturing me when I said it's a very common expression in photography.

    Good technical video but not quite right.
    The EOS 40D and 50D can also use the optional focus screens.

    I have a 5d mark II, the 2nd day, I tried putting on an ef-s 18-55 kit les from 550d.
    The focusing screen fell out. My heart sank, my body went cold, as I thought it had been the sensor..The trademark and main reason for the purchase..after 5 minutes of grievance, I googled if this happened before with other users.
    With quick but thorough research, I had found that it was not the sensor, but instead an inexpensive replaceable focus screen. I popped it back in place, and it's back to new again.

    "Faster" because it lets more light in and so the "film" is exposed more quickly.

    You said that it Can only be used with wide aperture lenses. f2.8 or FASTER. Can you measure an Aperture using a SPEED meter? I think you mean f2.8 or WIDER.

  • @vandenkevin
    @vandenkevin 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have to use f2.8 or faster lenses with the EF-S screen. Why is that?
