this video was a huge help for my girlfriend :) she was out doing a shoot when she needed help on how to get video to work on her camera so she called me and asked me to find something to help and this vid came up, so i held up the phone to the laptop speaker and she sussed it out listening to the vid.. so thank you :) well made and well spoken :)
1920x1080 (25) and 1920x1080 (24) Allowed you to shoot in fast movement it's depend to what you shooting but both are full HD But for 1920x1080 (50) use more when you doing slow motion.
I have both the 60d and T4i, and they're both solid choices. 60d having the benefits of being weather-resistant and smaller ISO increments, the T4i having the benefit of continual video autofocus, even if it's slow :)
I´ve bought this camera yesterday, and now I´m waiting for it to arrive at the shop, and I really CAN`T wait to get my hands on it, costs a fortune, but I already know that it will be worth every euro.
I am so grateful for this series of informative videos on the Canon 60D. However, and please don't take offence when I say, I just can't get Kermit the frog out of my head whilst listening to them.
Very helpful! Quick question. When shooting video on "Face Detection Mode", will the camera refocus on the subject if they were to move while recording?
Its because the card is too slow you need a class 6 or above ans if your card is a class 6 or above then you will have to format the card within the camera. You see when you take a bunch of pictures or video and then delete them this causes blank spots on the card which will slow the card down. I always format before shooting any video my card is a class 10 and I have the shut off problem also until I format. Make sure to transfer anything you would like to keep to your computer before.
This is usually due to the quality of your SD card, a class 10 SD card usually works best but sometimes you need to film a small amount of video before you dont get the message.
I've own this camera for 7 years now. With shutter cycle 680. The problem with this camera are, the rubber cover for speaker very easy damage, and the lcd screen getting vignette over the time. But overall I'm happy.
Hey, sadly I haven't i have to go this week to a repair shop in the city but i haven't had much time to do so, so i should be able to go soon to get a quote done so i can get it fixed hoping it all goes well
That was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I watched so many videos that simply didn't explain this stuff. The comment below is amusing... !! Super helpful. Ta.
I use Sandisk Ultra II class 4, it's fine.. I dont use it often but I made clip like 1-2 minutes, it's fine. I think the quality of the card matter (branded vs non branded card)? Or you got fake card
@rojaviva the only advice i know to give you is if you want a camera for primarily pictures, go with nikon, but for video, go with canon. Better yet the canon 60D
only down side i find when using the movie mode when you AF you can hear the lens focusing in the film. But i assume this would be eliminated if you was using an external mic?
@begaigai I've had the same issue with mine. First, make sure you have a memory card of at least Class 6 and verify it has a high read/write speed. I bought a Centon 32gb class 10 but it was very frustrating to use since I always got that error. I formatted the memory card after taking data off of it and results were better but I think if you go with a reputable brand with the above criteria you might do better. Let me know how it goes I'd be curious to see what works and change my memory card!
@DanielJWeiner In Wrench2 of the menus change "Video System" from PAL (European standard) to NTSC (N.America standard). That will give you options for 30 and 60 fps modes.
@Jeaust8V I think you're confusing this with a different camera because it sure as hell does NOT "cost a fortune!" Great camera and a great price for the market!
just got this amazing camera! looking forward to use it. Could someone please tell me how to change focus ''one shot to ''al servo in movie mode ??? i cant figure that out. :)
i would like to know if you can assist me i have just bought the 60d and hve noted that whenever i play my videos back they have a bit of a delay they were recorded full hd and had the exact same settings you have in this video, when i playback the video's on my canon they do play smooth. i tried to play it back on my mac and pc but they have those slight delays. Can this be fixed if so pls advice
HI! How do I transfer hd video to my MAC and into Final Cut Pro, without losing the HD quality? My videos always seem slightly blurry.. although I set the focus right. I transfer the content, inserting the memory card directly yo my MAC but, is a HDMI cable maybe better? Thank you!
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I've wanted to learn about my camera since the day I bought it and haven't known how! My camera just doesn't like to show me the playback of what I've just recorded. Is there a way to fix that, like a setting? Or is the 60D just not capable of playing back?
Remember you will only be allowed on the 60D to record 4GB or 12 minutes of video at one time. I would stay away from PNY SD Cards and use only Class 4 to 10 cards. If you want to get more out of the camera as far as video check into Magic Lantern a open source firmware that turns your Canon camera into a video camera. Please read all info on the site before updating your firmware. I have it and it is working fine.
I currently have a rebel and would like to purchase 6d unfortunately if I do I wont have enough for other things like external flash, or mic receivers etc So if you had a choice what would you get between 60d and 70d?
What are the settings in video I can use so that everything is in focus? I don't like that as things move in the video....things go in and out of of focus
Could you or someone explain to me what the difference between 1920x1080 (25) and 1920x1080 (24) is? My Canon camera has the above two at the top and my bottom three are the same but for (50) not (60) as in your video. Cheers.
How do I know that the volume on the video is too loud for me to make the adjustment in the manual audio setting, is it possible for a headphone to be connected to the DSLR while shooting so that I can hear what audio is being recorded real time?. Thank you.
@komell2009 i was having the same problem with an 8 gb when i first bought mine. Then i put in a 32 gb card, and i didnt have the problem anymore. I really dont know why.
How do you get automatic exposure shooting? As when I tried using the quick control dial it just moved the focusing rectangle around and there wasn't a grid shown over the screen.
Can Anybody tell me about this? I'm about buying this camera, or de nikon d7000. I read that the top clip time in movies is about 12 minutes or 4 Gb. my question is: When its needed to be longer than 12 minutes and, let's suppouse i'm recording myself and have no acces to the camera.. does it keep recording in another file automatically? or does it just stop and no more video is recorder unless someone hits the record button again? The nikon top time in movie mode is 20 minutes..Thank you!
@TheMugfaker It's ok when I view the footage on the memory card on my MAC it's fine, when I import it into FCP the quality is really worse, and it stays that way once I export the finished video.... any idea? Thanx!
IamPrincess Asuncion Basically NTSC, PAL & SECAM are the various encoding standards used for the Colour Television signal. As described by Fanos above adopted in various countries. At the moment it doesn't matter as most TV sets automatically selects the colour system and produces proper colour pictures.
@Jason Alexander But this don't affect the result on a computer !? The video readers can read every format ? It is only on TV screen doesn't it ? And new TV can read every format as said by Slifford below so we can choose NTSC to have a better rate and no problem except maybe on old tv with the camera output ?
Excellent tutorial. The clearest, most comprehensive breakdown of this camera's features and settings I've seen.Well done and thanks.
Thank you better than sitting reading a book for hours You make life so much more easier once again thank you
Thank you. This was very helpful and spoken so clearly that I as a German understood every single word. Great little overview.
I've had this camera for a couple of years and I'm just now discovering this. I'm a little aggravated with myself, but glad to have found this video.
this video was a huge help for my girlfriend :) she was out doing a shoot when she needed help on how to get video to work on her camera so she called me and asked me to find something to help and this vid came up, so i held up the phone to the laptop speaker and she sussed it out listening to the vid.. so thank you :) well made and well spoken :)
I bought a canon 60D 2 days ago , I have had benefits from your video. thank you so much man.

Excelent explanation, excelent class! Nice pace, nice info, very detailed, just great! Thanks a lot for sharing with all of us.

Thank you! Was at a complete loss as to why, I had it selected but wasn't recording when I clicked the exposure button. Thanks again!
I was first planing to buy a t3i, than a dealer persuaded me to buy this camera because it's better for the long term. :)
Excellent demo. Concise but very useful!

Need to choose "Movie Exposure" to Manual first. Took me a while to figure it out myself. It's the first setting when in the Video mode.
@claybiter looks like you have PAL selected. 30fps is NTSC.
This is usually due to the quality of your SD card, a class 10 SD card usually works best but sometimes you need to film a small amount of video before you dont get the message.
Thanks for the wonderful presentation . Could you please let us know the general Lens should be used for movie shooting.
WOW !! What a superb peice of content. Thanks a lot mate.
I love this kind of video, so precise and informative.
I've own this camera for 7 years now. With shutter cycle 680. The problem with this camera are, the rubber cover for speaker very easy damage, and the lcd screen getting vignette over the time. But overall I'm happy.

Best tutorial ever
Good and helpful information, but is it also possible to stay focused on an moving object with the Canon 60D?
Thank you it really helped
@begaigai Yes its because of the speed of the memory card. Try to use a SDHC card
I use Sandisk Ultra II class 4, it's fine.. I dont use it often but I made clip like 1-2 minutes, it's fine. I think the quality of the card matter (branded vs non branded card)? Or you got fake card
I cant see anything on the screen in movie mode, can someone help?

I love it!Great tutorial, I am so proud of my camera!:)
Very well made video! Super informative and helpful. I really appreciate it. Thanks a billion!
Because in certain countries normal frame rates are either at 24 or 30fps, so in his country it's 60fps and in other places it's 50fps
@DanielJWeiner In Wrench2 of the menus change "Video System" from PAL (European standard) to NTSC (N.America standard). That will give you options for 30 and 60 fps modes.
@DanielJWeiner you have to change the settings NTSC to pal to view the 30fps i hope that helps
Clear and a mastery instruction given, appreciate and i value your time en effort by share this video.
When in Movie Mode go to the settings and change your "Video System" to NTSC and you should now have the option to choose 60fps in 720p
Thank you very much.. great video.. easily explained 💜
GamerLaunch2013, i had the same issue. Try using a 32 GB SDXC. It should work well.
excellent explanation sir, thank you.
Great helpful video, many thanks.
Could I ask anyone why 1920x1080 24fps was skipped and not explained? Cheers.
how long is the record time in this camera sir?
@Jeaust8V I think you're confusing this with a different camera because it sure as hell does NOT "cost a fortune!" Great camera and a great price for the market!
@IzzylilStar Hi, is the footage blurry after you have exported or while you are editing? Are you exporting at full HD or regular standard definition?
Its because your lens focus motor its not too good. If you have lens with a better Focus motor that sound will not appear. (Sorry for my bad English)
IamPrincess Asuncion - PAL settings are for the UK and some of Europe. NTSC is for the U.S.
can i film without focus??
Wow amazing cameras and lens
it’s all beautiful
Thanks for resolving the issue.
Hmm i am from the uk though, will this make a difference with anything
just got this amazing camera! looking forward to use it. Could someone please tell me how to change focus ''one shot to ''al servo in movie mode ??? i cant figure that out. :)
How can we store the recorded videos in a slow motion mode ? Or should we record in the required fps and use s/w to convert to Slow motion?
Very educative video...thunbs up
i would like to know if you can assist me i have just bought the 60d and hve noted that whenever i play my videos back they have a bit of a delay they were recorded full hd and had the exact same settings you have in this video, when i playback the video's on my canon they do play smooth. i tried to play it back on my mac and pc but they have those slight delays. Can this be fixed if so pls advice
Why is it neccessary to change the setting to PAL? I have always been taught to shoot in NTSC in USA?
most likely you use slow card. I use sandisk Ultra II class 4, and it's fine.. but if you can get class 6 or class 10 is better.
Im using canon 60d with 85mm 1.8f how do i take portraits without the image becoming blur when my subjects are moving whilst doing a candid shot?
yeah, I ask myself the same quastion, do you already know?? Is it a update?
@begaigai I had it once with a class 10 card, could be sensor temperature.
HI! How do I transfer hd video to my MAC and into Final Cut Pro, without losing the HD quality? My videos always seem slightly blurry.. although I set the focus right. I transfer the content, inserting the memory card directly yo my MAC but, is a HDMI cable maybe better?

+Agirlinanotherworld Can you be a bit more specific? " ... doesn't like to show me the playback of what I've just recorded ... "
@@ChristopherKblog he means he can’t preview what he recorded

What kind of memory card are u using? If it is to small, that is the problem. u need to have a class 10 memory card
i got the t4i over this, what do you guys think, did i do right?
i have a class 10 and it still tends to happen. Do you have any idea on what is happening?
Or an STM lens, you don't hear the motor focusing lithe the other lenses.
how are you recording the camera screen? I can't figure out how to do that o.0
Thank you ... Great tutorial
I have a question why my video when I play it Sound la robotic and slow motion. Is the settin in my camera or what
i cant switch to video mode ! the live view does not appear automatically and it takes a photo on video mode too !! help please
@ArabGadgets It's your sd card, try low level format.
Great film tutorial! Thx.
can you please share the link to get this information my friend.??
What are the settings in video I can use so that everything is in focus? I don't like that as things move in the video....things go in and out of of focus
you need to change your SD CARD to Class 10 HD professional from 16 to up gigs
Try this if it's not fix yet let me know.
Great demonstration
What about the maximum video recording time or GB?
What other canon or camera has these features? thanks
Could you or someone explain to me what the difference between 1920x1080 (25) and 1920x1080 (24) is?

Is the 60 D capable to recording a raw video?
1:50 Why for 25 or 50FPS you need set to PAL? I always use NTSC to this day O.O
I believe I have the canon t5i rebel, is it possible to auto record? Like I can leave it on a tripod and record myself? Or no?
how many minutes of video can you record on full battery? someone please answer
What's the difference between PAL and NTSC video system?
Pal 24 fps at 625 linesNTSC 30 fps at 525 lines
