I saw this as a little kid and thought the boys were clapping and cheering for the high note at the end. Turns out I was wrong. I found another funny part of the movie XD
Same lol. It's good rewatching films like these that you watched as a kid now as an adult because you get to understand some jokes that you didn't as a kid.
When you are a kid you only notice the comedy factor in this movie and look at scenes like this as boring, not so funny and unnecessary. Many years later as an adult you can fully appreciate and enjoy the beauty and art of cinema captured with scenes like this. Mel Brooks is a true cinema treasure.
Yeah this is one of the top movies I watched as an adult and asked my mom "WHy the hell did you let me watch that on repeat as a kid?" "Did you remember the 'adult' parts?" I’ll never forget watching this in sophomore English with my best friend and we took it upon ourselves to turn it into our own personal Rocky Horror Picture Show. We sang along with the oohs, applauded, swayed and ahh’d with the Merry Men during this scene. We annoyed everyone and the teacher but we didn’t care because we were having fun. This was our end-of-the-year movie to watch in class and we were in a dead heat tie between this and School of Rock. My friend wasn’t in class that day and I said he would be the deciding vote and I knew he was going to vote for this. Best day of high school ever!
and trying to get the crown back on among all that hair...do you think that was scripted, or she really couldn't get it back correctly, and it was just so natural & funny, they left it in?
I revisit this video so often. The best musical number in the movie. I never get tired of her crown being blown off by the sheer force of his vocal power. 😂
Gets me every time how he scares her when he breaks into song. Also I'm not disappointed in the respect for this movie (judging from the like/dislike ratio).
This is probably the best scene of the most entertaining movie ever made. I grew up with this movie, and to this day, though I can speak and sing along, it makes me laugh. Precious.
what i like so much about comedy musicals is despite the obvious need to be funny, they never neglect to produce musical quality. this guy singing has an amazing voice.
Cary did a wonderful job of keeping up with the lyrics even though he didn't sing them himself. Best actor ... love Cary Elwes. Him and Andre the Giant RIP.
Had to look on here to experience the "full effect" of this scene.... saw the movie on TV today and they cut half of it out - left me wanting more! I need to find my DVD and watch the whole thing uncut! One of the funniest movies ever!! And I agree, they TOTALLY should make a stage production of this - wouldn't that be great!!??

The Producers (2005): "Und that is not how you 'Haben Sie Gehört das Deutsche Band'! THIS is how you sing 'Haben Sie Gehört das Deutsch Band! B flat! 2-2 time! Modulate at the bridge!"

XD She was startled when he started singing...wonder if she was thinking "Oh, I didn't know you could sing!" or something. Also, a few of the Merry Men were roasting marshmellows at :38. I never noticed that before. There are probably still lots of things I haven't noticed in this movie.

No augment with me. RHMIT is one of Mel Brook's best!
yes i agree
I love how this is a silly comedic parody song but the singer legitimately BELTS it out with such power. Fantastic.
The singer is Arthur Rubin
That's part of the joke, old movies loved to break into operatic singing out of nowhere, it was often jarring and got turned to 11 here.

That “sword” at the end is the cherry on top!
