South Dakota: This 30-Minute Helicopter Private Tour is Worth Every Penny! (RVT Ep. #8)

We embarked on an epic 30-minute and 50-mile loop helicopter tour over the Black Hills, S.D. The journey commenced in the town of Keystone and soared along Grizzly Bear Creek, through the Black Elk Wilderness, skirting the Cathedral Spires, and beneath Black Elk Peak. We toured the iconic Sylvan Lake Outlets, passing over Sylvan Peak. Our journey continued to Thunderhead Mountain and the eagerly anticipated Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore. However, we couldn't approach Mount Rushmore too closely due to restrictions and, of course, turbulence. Following an intimate viewing of the Crazy Horse Memorial, we journeyed across Needles' Highway (SD HWY 87). A few days later, we returned to explore this remarkable and uniquely engaging drive in the country. Navigating the Needles Eye Highway Tunnel can be a bit daunting with its narrow 8-foot width and 9-foot-9-inch height! Additionally, we stopped for breakfast and later took a leisurely walk around the magnificent and picturesque Sylvan Lake, often referred to as the crown jewel of Custer State Park.

Most of these buildings have been added well after i was there years ago many ago. The heli. pad all that. I traveled the Black Hills both by big rig and car. Mt RRushmore and Crazy Horse monument plus Bear Country east of Rapid City. Twice.
I agreed! We were told that this Helicopter area is all NEW. Alot of new stuff. There is also a cute bagel shop with outdoor dining and park for kids that we loved going when in Keystone. Rapid City we went to shop for a new vent for our rig which was damaged at the wall a week before getting to the Blackhills and then had lunch. It was a great experience, and we hope to return.
