    Another interesting story, good acting, and intrigue until the last minute. Enjoyed on 5/17/2022.

    Excellent story ! It reminds me of an Angela Lansbury program in Murder She Wrote. Thank you for sharing.

    Ha! The first ~7 minutes are all things you can't ask job applicants anymore. I used to listen to RMT regularly - glad I found you!

    Fun fact: 20k in 1975 (when this episode aired) a year was just equivalent to 93k a year in 2018.

      20k probably went alot further back then, especially when there were far more single income families. Inflation has surpassed what a yearly income can manage in many cases now.

    There’s an episode of Alfred Hitchcock’s TV series from the 1950’s with a very similar story plot as this one. It’s not the first time when I noticed Sam Dann “borrowing” ideas for his stories from other, old sources.

      They all do it; for example, Steven King’s novel, ‘The Fog’ was ripped off from a classic radio program of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Pennywise ain’t his either.

    NOTE :
    This is a Sam Dann authored story with admirable female characters.

      Thank you for pointing that out, I've wondered if he had a shrill, hysterical mother like mine.

      I doubt that all the grief of late hurled at Sam Dann is warranted in light of the hundreds of episodes he wrote for CBSRMT. Some people live to spread hate and meanness. Wasted lives. He wrote a lot of great stories for this show!

    Great call, I noticed he does get bashed a lot. I have to say, a lot of people trash Mercedes McCambridge because of her voice and it used to bug me also, but the more I hear her, the more I appreciate her talent. She is amazing! My favorite CBSRMT episode of hers is "All Living Things Must Die" episode 82, where she is a lonely woman who talks to her plants...

      Nothing wrong with her voice but she did sound kind of old for this particular role. I had a hard time believing she was a young woman like the character she played.

      Well....she was Pazuzu in The Exorcist...so her voice did have some redeeming qualities 😂😂😂....I can sometimes hear the demon in her voice in the episodes she is in on these old shows, her throat must have bled after filming...

      She was an alcoholic

    • @jessikatkins1173
      @jessikatkins1173 ปีที่แล้ว

      Given her talents she was obviously a "functioning" alcoholic but it's still very sad. I recall she played a flamboyant but deluded washed up actress that was an alcoholic in an Elspeth Eric episode. And though I've no idea if she was alcohol dependent at that time, she certainly played the part flawlessly. Her problem aside, it really is a measure of an actor's talent if they can play a drunk...rather like speaking with an accent. It's not supposed to be easy and you either pull it off or you don't.

      Mercedes is great. As an actress, she can play any roll she desires. Compare with the incomparable Agnes Moorhead, yes Endora on Bewitched, Ms. Moorhead was 74years old and played the part of a 27year old bride in an early episode of the CBSRMT. Sadly, she passed away that same year. Mercedes was the same, give her a roll and she makes it her own.
