Nice job man. I like what you have done. I have a 1995 E320 facelift coupe. Imperial Red on Mushroom. I have been restoring it over the last few months as well. Love these cars! One of my favorite daily drivers ever.
Thanks. Just got a clean 89 C124 for $1000 US. Love it, runs great, windows and sunroof work. Minor coolant consumption. I hear these M103's can handle 600HP without any internal upgrades. Just boost it and proper fuel management.
I’m sure you could get 600 with a built M103 and the right turbo / fueling .. check the turbo series , we got some great results from just adding 9psi of boost - whole new beast
I don’t disagree, I would change out headlights if I found a nice euro set for a reasonable price. It’s anything but stock now that I’ve turbocharged it…. given its mileage and imperfections I felt it was a good platform for interpretation. If it were a lower mileage pristine example I would go strictly period correct Benz, AMG parts
Hi. My apologies if you covered this. For your turbo project, Do you plan to keep the KE Jetronic (and blow through the air plenum)? I would assume that system was calibrated assuming atmospheric pressure air. That is why I am curious.
This M103 has CIS, Constant injection system. My research on the Internet and word from the Kangaroos Team who I bought my manifold from, say that the CIS system can easily manage 8 to 10 psi without any real adjustments. I’m actually starting to document all of that process this weekend and will be putting up the initial video in about two weeks time. I will detail all the pieces and the plan/approach with links to products I’m using. Then release videos of each step. Can’t wait for this thing to spool up !
Personally I'd keep it more classic and not add the turbo/intercooler ure suggesting, might kill your straight oldtimer 6 but hey anyone does what he wants and maybe learns from it. Have an 88' 300CE with 100% mint preserved black leather interior and totally nice all around the black body, will do a video on that one soon thanks for inspiration ;-)
I definitely understand where you’re coming from. This car having higher miles and not being pristine in any way seemed like a good candidate for an upgrade. I have already installed the turbo with great results, and honestly could not be happier. It changed the car 100% and makes it so much more fun to drive now. Next up is the five speed manual swap. Looking forward to seeing the video of your car.
Thank you 🙏🏼 have you seen the most recent video ? Shows the final status of the car fully turbo charged th-cam.com/video/kKxjyTfzjcY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=URVvQdLFPZSbc015
Thank you and best wishes in the project. I am pretty sure you will need to “up” the fuel in some way. If successful I wish to copy you. As they say, imitation is the best form of flattery.
I always get worried when someone says "upgrades" in reference to these golden era Benz's, but these seem relatively restrained. Thanks for the vid! EDIT: IMO you should leave the stock seats, and just reupholster. Modern seats in an older car never look right.
Note to self: Never say you received parts for your Mercedes from a junk yard, even if you did great but no one needs to know it…steering wheel meh…those headlights meh…if I pick up a Benz of that year, would totally use the AMG version as a forerunner for upgrades…but love these models
The head lights are very polarizing. The junk yard comment is funny because it’s all perception. Clearly I don’t perceive finding NLA parts on Benz in a salvage yard as a bad thing, I’m basically finding gold for little money while others are buying at “market value”… but that is the beauty of the world, we all perceive things differently. All the best to you and your Benz-ing
Nice lookin ride. The headlights are a good touch.. I love the w124 body. I have the 1987 300d with the 3.0L turbo diesel with perfect body. Nice interior and low miles. I was really impressed with the power it has for being a diesel. And the ride is great.. The only thing I dont like are the flat face rims and its white. I can change the rims and I painted custom cars for 30 years so I could paint it but its a bitch doing a total color change. I thought about selling it to but an older mercedes. Thanks for the video. Nice car

@@AutoAfflicted 600HP on the coast would get me upside down in the water, but 400 would be manageable.
I need to come out for a Canyon run for some mellow vibes. Great episode A.G.!
No doubt ! Meet up in Brian head, good roads
Awesome car. I have the same but 1992 model. But I personally prefer minimum aftermarket stuff. Sometimes it's cool to have it though

Great video, thanks! I'm really looking forward for the low pressure turbo installation video and resulting performance upgrade.
Thank you! I will documents it well. I’ve watched many videos showing parts installed but noticing that really shows how they did it
awesome video and car
Thank you! I can’t wait to make a proper new review with the turbo added
Those drone shots are sick!
Was lucky to have drone pilot Justin Mendez along
1:31 Don't forget the R129.
I do like r129
Where do I find those headlights?
Here you go www.slickcar.com/details/63896-projector-headlights.asp
These are great looking vintage cars. How comfortable are those seats?
The seats are quite comfortable now that I’ve swapped over new skins… they were horrible as shown despite the condition 😬

Where is the tutorial video on how to black-out a chrome grill? We need one!
I’ll provide - I’m going to redo the grill in gloss black vs this matte
@@AutoAfflicted I painted my grille same color code as the car paint ( 199)
Yes ! I’m going to redo the grill in a gloss black… I used plasti dip so that grill can be returned to original in case the next owner desires that

Yes, I may have to get bigger injectors or increase pressure? Luckily I have many great minds to advise me

The turbo turned out great, vastly improved the throttle response.
The SECs are much cooler.
I feel it’s hard to compare them, SEC has great lines but the CE introduced a whole new body form that shape the future of car design
@@AutoAfflicted Copy that.
